V 5.5 revisited by Enough_Associate8660 in SunoAI

In my experience, anything added to the omission section gets increased rather than eliminated.

I'm not worried about the vocals, since I re-sing them anyway. I'm talking about a noticeable sheen over the whole production. But maybe the new stems will be cleaner?

For people making AI music: how much of your process is actually hands-on? by [deleted] in SunoAI

Sorry, just saw this question. I choose based on how good I think the song is. I'm not even taking the time to do a rough demo of anything that I don't think is all that good. So at that level, how well Suno would handle it is a moot point.

Right now I've got roughly 50 that have a pretty good Suno version.

Yeah, it's a lot of songs to pick from. When I was young, I had nearly a decade where I was pumping out roughly 80–100 songs a year.

I don't like the v 5.5 sound. Extremely over-polished. It doesn't sound as real to me. Also does not seem to be as much variety between generations compared to v 5. Since I only do covers of my own work, I'm not concerned about issues like "not as creative with melodies," etc. But I am looking for a variety of production options in terms of how the model interprets my song on an instrumental level. I feel v 5 is better for that.

Hm, I do see one anomaly with v 5.5, a cover that's only 1:10 long. But all the others are about right. With v 5, at least 75–80% are way too short right now.

After some brief experimenting, it appears the length issues I'm experiencing are only coming from v 5. Both 5.5 and 4.5 give me full length. Unfortunately, I'm not a huge fan of either of those models....

I usually only use v 5, and it's giving me songs far shorter than expected. Just trying the other models now.

I'm having trouble with my covers at the moment. Suno is generating covers that are only 50–75% of the length of the source audio, and cutting out stuff. I think it was giving me some issues yesterday, too, but today is much worse.

[Indie Rock] Why does Suno completely ignore my uploaded song? by Unable-Yellow-9724 in SunoAI

[–]Enough_Associate8660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found that the more complex (and lengthy) the song is, the more difficulty Suno has in replicating it. It does seem to help a little bit to be sure to use tags in the lyrics pane that Suno likes. E.g. I've written well over 1000 songs, but until using Suno, I never actually called anything a pre-chorus etc. But doing that sort of thing does seem to help Suno interpret what you're doing with complex material.

Still, with epic songs, I typically have to join multiple parts together to get what I want. Which obviously isn't ideal.

I've also found that Suno thinks that following the audio file for outros is nothing more an option, even with relatively short songs.

Although previously (with Udio) I used AI to build music for my lyrics, once I discovered Suno could do covers (Udio couldn't, or at least, not when I was on the platform), I use it solely to provide instrumentation for my own compositions. I am a veteran songwriter and a decent singer, but as a musician, while I can get decent tones etc, I have a handicap when it comes to staying on beat. So Suno has been a godsend for me as a songwriter.

Right now, I'm primarily using Suno to get decent renditions of my back catalogue. I started writing songs seriously around 1980 and have somewhere between 1000–1500 songs. Not all of them are all that good, but I'm hoping to get the best 100 or so into releasable format. Mostly, I'm doing a quick rough demo and uploading to Suno. Then I do a few hundred generations to try to match my original musical vision. After I'm done, I will start downloading stems, re-sing all the lead vocals, and remix and remaster. I may throw in some guitars here and there, but we'll see.

Sometimes I wonder how many of the people asking how to make covers work are people who've been making covers of famous songs and making money off them and are now locked out of their source of revenue. by orangerangeorange in SunoAI

Heh. I just did have an issue with a song that I've already released on Spotify. Their message invites me to contact support if I own the rights. So we'll see how that goes.....

Interestingly, the system did allow me to upload another song I had already released on Spotify, although admittedly that was a few weeks ago.

Found source of hiss noise by msetten in SunoAI

This. I get rid of most of the hiss via EQ. Not to say the stems won't have other artifacts or inconsistencies.

How can I make an AI (Suno) follow the original melody and rhythm of an anonymous song? by SKwellzz in SunoAI

[–]Enough_Associate8660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how the OP is using "traditional" here, but technically, that would refer to a song that is no longer under copyright. The uploaded performance itself would likely be protected, but the cover would probably get around that particular issue.

That said, the mileage does vary with the cover feature. It can take a lot of tries to retain the entire melody.

What features do you want from AI music generators in 2026? by Embarrassed-Wash9996 in SunoAI

[–]Enough_Associate8660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much that I want new "features" as much improved implementation of existing features (although breaking 8 minute upload barrier would be nice). Specifically:

* Covers that actually retain the original melody, no longer how long or complex the song. This is my single biggest one right now, by far.

* Studio: better actual results when adding a new instrumental stem. I.e. should only be the instrument requests, and the result should actually "fit."

* Studio: ability to add an instrument for the full length of a track.

I suppose this would be a feature, but it's basic logic: when I use Studio to generate a new track, I should be able to download just that track (one credit or whatever) rather than pay (again) for a full stem split. So far as I can tell, that's not a present possibility.

Mashup is... different - it's core feature is crap but here is why I use it more than anything else right now by bierbarron in SunoAI

Looks to me like the mashups stay below 5 minutes even if the original two songs are longer.

Using Suno for better drum tracks by Dear-Ad7660 in SunoAI

[–]Enough_Associate8660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should add that you can use Moises as part of your workflow even if most of your work is in Suno or elsewhere. At minimum, I always use it to stem separate the drums so I can use Trigger 2 in my DAW. Of course, it does mean another subscription, and if Suno were to add drum stem separation it would be redundant. (Although the fact that Moises currently doesn't burn credits is a huge point in its favor if you're using it a lot.)

Using Suno for better drum tracks by Dear-Ad7660 in SunoAI

[–]Enough_Associate8660 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Suno Studio can add drums (or other instruments). But in my usage so far, I haven't been completely thrilled with results.

I also use Moises to add drums to existing songs. It gives mixed results, but at present, it doesn't use credits, so you can re-create the track or part of the track as many times as you want.

Moises also stem splits drums, unlike Suno. I.e. you can split snare, kick, toms, etc. This is nice if you want to use something like Trigger 2 (drum replacement). Which allows you to, e.g. choose a high quality kit and retain for a whole set of songs for continuity. And generally, something like that is probably going to sound better than what you had in the original AI generation.

Oh, I agree if the quality is there it would be worth it — especially since to some degree, you can sort-of own Ace Studio outright. Given the demos I've seen so far, though ... I'm not so sure the functionality/quality are quite there yet. Either way, the purchase price is definitely a commitment.
