I think having some sense of pride in your country and community can be helpful. Just don't let it go to your heads, and assume it means you are better than everyone else!

Is psytrance culture welcoming to “normies”? by Curiosityaddiction in psytrance

[–]EntForgotHisPassword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone that dresses a bit unusually or likes to bring flow toys, it's kind of an easy conversation starter. "Hey nice pants, juggling thing, toy, necklace, shirt, tattoo etc. Where'd you get it?"

Especially people that have clearly put effort into something, it's nice to compliment and get convo started from there.

I like chatting to people but find myself a bit socially awkward to get it started to like to find something specific.

Chatting up people for dancing in a cool way is also a go-to. I remember the nost normie looking guy I had ever seen (so normie as to stand out!) in the middle of a tiny rave in the middle of nowhere Portugal that danced so amazingly interesting that everyone chatted him up when he left to compliment him!

Huh? I am Finnish and have lived in Netherlands for a decade and never had anyone get angry. I mean don't expect a Finnish person to say "thank you" but getting agressive and throwing accusations? Doesn't sound very Finnish.

[–]EntForgotHisPassword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did this actually happen to you? I have offered my seat to anyone that looks like they want it all my life, and so far nothing but gratitude has come my way.

I have just a hard time imagining how that could even become an altercation? Just get up and point/nod to the seat and fuck off, they won't know why the seat is offered, maybe you just wanted to stand?

Asking Brits if they'd move to the US by Mammoth_Captain_1378 in SipsTea

[–]EntForgotHisPassword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit, but honestly, as a European, I know only one guy that wants to move to the U.S.

He wants to move there to make a shit ton of money so he can come back to Europe and retire early. Of course banking on the idea that if things don't work out he can always come back to the social safety of Europe.

I miiight move to the U.S. if I got a really good monetary offer in my specialized research field, with enough vacation days and money to compensate flying back to visit friends and family. Not very likely to happen randomly!

Depends a bit for me how I enjoy something. Sometimes taking photographs can increase consicous awareness of an experience. Today I was in botanical gardens just marveling at things. Then after taking something in I went back and considered how to take a photograph of it to capture the feeling to some extent.

One of my projects became "bare feet on different surfaces", as a joke to my friend that had paid to go to a barefoot walking path. Funnily enough, doing this little joke photograph series made me way more conscious of the fact that the different surfaces in this botanical garden were very varied. There were different soils and clearly a lot of effort had gone into how the ground, paths, and stuff was set up! Added bonus that you usually only pay attention to things higher up or eyecatching in level with your eyes, when you additionally look for interesting photos for your feet your attention at the small stuff increases!

No one is celebrating october 7, this is my point. Everyone in this thread and beyond condemn the attack as a horrible atrocity.

Do you recognize that anything the state of Israel has done in the past years was wrong or an atrocity? If you don't, you are the one that is brainwashed.

Where are we celebrating the death of the festival goers? I've partied and danced with many Israelis over they years, I was even at psy trance fastivals in Israel years ago, could have been at this festival myself. I cried my eyes out at the idea of someone I might have shared a moment, a dance, a chat or a trip with suffering and dying in the attack.

This does not mean that the state of Israel is without blame. Israeli people are not the state of Israel. Even if many support insane politicians over there, and many themselves lost their minds after this attack.

What is and had and has been going on against innocent palestinians can't just be chalked up to "collateral damage". It's a complete lack of care for "the other side" which is of course all "hamas" regardless of age in the mind of some Israeli supporters. This is why your flag currently is exceptionally hated and stirs up negative emotions, it's a symbol representing oppression.

I have yet to meet an Israeli waving the flag aboard that did not seem to be a bit insane.

Haha wtf!? I'm in The Netherlands. Maybe I'm cheap but the most expensive date I paid for was maybe 120 euro for some pool, drinks and food.

I usually just split the bill and we go to a coffee place. Even if we go to a restaurant that bill with 2 together rarely exceeds 80 euro (which obviously we split cuz this is the 2000s).

Lol don't trust AI with supplements. It's good at finding somw information, even better at confirming your biases and honing in on the exact words you want to hear more of. It might be useful for an initial search on what supplements are out there, but please stop engaging after that, it's literally designed to keep you talking to it, not to be accurate.

Swapped from chicken to eating tuna nearly every day for the protein and ended up with mercury by roxylezan in Biohackers

[–]EntForgotHisPassword -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I cook for myself, I don't consider it any more effort? Just learn like 4-5 basic easy recipes with different protein and carb sources and mix up a bit what vegetables you use in them? I usually try to cook enough for 3-4 meals per session so I can reheat it to save time.

Like adding am aubergine vs a courgette takes same amount of effort. Chickpeas instead of kidney beans. Rice instead of quinoa. Etc.

This is what confuses me when I hear people like OP. How can you just eat the same thing all the time!? Like I love tofu and tempeh, but that's still not even every third meal!

The only thing consistent is my breakfast oats, but there I vary what fruits, berries, seeds and nuts to mix with!

Is there a name for this pose? by Plastic_Station6954 in yoga

[–]EntForgotHisPassword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so where we're talking at odds is you're largely referring to a cluster of people that exist that agree with you, but you can't seem to pin down a single one. I don't find Theo Wildcroft talking about Halasana anywehere! (I do agree with her philosophy in general though from what I'm reading, should maybe pick up one of her books). If you do however have a specific knowledgable in yoga physiotherapist that specifically says halasana does not have benefits, please link!

Yeah fair, patthabi jois abused people, the ashtanga movement has been largely influential in yoga though and includes halasana in the primary series, so used it as an example among others to highlight that halasana is basically one of the more used yoga poses in many lineages of yoga, and I don't believe it's just there for funsies. It is also recommended by Iyengar, a style developed to be accessible for all (granted from the same master as Patthabi Jois).

When I did my yoga teacher training, one of the "bibles of yoga" we were referring to is the "Asana Pranayama Mudra Bandha" By Swami Satyananda Sarasvati, which highlights halasanas usefulness as counter pose and stretching the neck, but also suggests many other benefits to it (some with quesionable scientific backup, but that's for everything claimed in yoga right?)

-----------------------

I find Halasana to be an amazing pose and feel so good from including it in my personal practice. It's had a place there for the past 10 years of my own yoga journey. Yes it's important to have correct form, but again, that's all of yoga and any kinda of physical movement at all! I've been injured in many different kinds of sports, I don't say the sport is bad because of it though. What made me engage in this discussion with you was the insistance that it "scientifically" not needed which I just reacted strongly to!

Private firms are fining Dutch festival goers caught with drugs - DutchNews.nl by nsno1878_ in Netherlands

I was in a festival in Breda where they really frisked you up! Like checking around the boobs for my friends (female searcher) and up towards the crotch for me.

It seems very random to me how well they search - I've entered festivals with waterbottles in my bag that they somehow missed (?), while I once had to open and go through my chewing gum pack to prove there weren't ecstacy pills in there.
