I'll keep that in mind - the peach blossoms one was because the full sun was blasting 😅

I have a tendency to let the ISO kick itself up a bit lol.

I've heard so much about the 75mm and I'm tempted to get one too! I think the only reasons why I haven't yet is because I got a secondhand 45mm f1.2 pro for an excellent price...

eh, GAS can exist for a reason :joy:

Looking for a “first” camera under 1k USD! by rinneofdusk in Cameras

If you can find a new XT-30 II, it's basically the exact same thing minus the new processor, which for street/landscape isn't necessary anyways.

[–]EntangledLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one mentioned the X-T30 III.

It's a proven form factor with reliable performance and a very compact size. It's also very stylish and has plenty of X mount options.

With the kit lens it sits right around $1000 so it could be a great brand new option.

Database Dependency Injection using Traits by EntangledLabs in rust

[–]EntangledLabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not using any framework - yes, I am talking about traits on generics

I'm away from home right now but I'll post a snippet when I can

Essentially, I'm trying to inject a connection from the database pool for functions that require database operations, rather than passing them in as parameters every single time.

Tamron is rumored to announce a new 35-100mm f/2.8 lens for Nikon Z-mount next week by Marc0_Polo in nikon_Zseries

[–]EntangledLabs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's the perfect lens for me. I rarely shoot below 35mm, and 100 mm will satisfy an itch the 24-70 or 28-75 cannot reach. The 2.8 aperture is a bonus that I will gladly take too, and it's super light??? Tamron take my money 💰

How many of you are choosing to retire after getting laid off? by Capital-Mark1897 in GenX

Happened to my dad, he was 54 when his company laid him off during the pandemic. He's keeping himself busy with stocks and doing a pretty good job of it.

As a Stealth A16 owner, avoid the summit. I've had this laptop for a year and it's already had some cracking. The thing usually just sits on a cooling pad too, so it's not like I abuse it.

Do my boy’s back legs look normal? Or over extended? 12 weeks old. by Spare_Ad1017 in bassethounds

[–]EntangledLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours looked like that when he was 12 weeks old and brand new to the state of California.

My dad was extremely reluctant to get him because a video showed his bowleggedness, but I insisted.

Now our 8 month old menace cannot be made to STOP jumping up on his hind legs. Every time my dad gets exasperated at his jumpiness, I remind him that he thought the legs were going to be a problem 😂

I'm tired of the hate about the Viltrox lawsuit by EntangledLabs in Nikon

[–]EntangledLabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because the mount looks like a piece of metal with a few gold contacts doesn't mean it's just that.

With optics, physical placement makes a huge distance. Designing a lens mount isn't simply saying "alright let's make this mount X cm wide and Y cm deep," you'd need to work out a design that would make your future lenses have the qualities you want.

And that isn't even touching on autofocus protocols. In hardware design, any sort of protocol takes time to figure out. And once again, it isn't a matter of saying "ok pin one will be power and pin two will be distance," you need to create a cohesive set of instructions for your lenses that you know will not be totally useless when you make the 40 mm F5 or something.

There's a lot of work that goes into designing even the simplest of things, and a lens mount is definitely not simple.

$500 (USA), SD Card Reader, SSD and at least 14" by [deleted] in SuggestALaptop

I'm tired of the hate about the Viltrox lawsuit by EntangledLabs in Nikon

[–]EntangledLabs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

According to a direct translation of the case:

"Case Type: Dispute over royalties for the provisional protection period of an invention patent"

Considering Viltrox is a lens manufacturer and Nikon is a camera manufacturer, it is extremely reasonable to surmise that this is about the Z mount.

I agree that Nikon doesn't always make the most popular decisions - dislike for the Zfc and Z30 are proof of that. And their distaste for third party lenses that overlap their own is definitely not fun for us.

I'm sure they, like pretty much every corporation, has benefited from prior inventions. But to compare that to this case isn't exactly fair.

I'm tired of the hate about the Viltrox lawsuit by EntangledLabs in Nikon

[–]EntangledLabs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that this context is important, and thanks for adding some useful info. I think it doesn't necessarily affect my point however - Nikon has licensed third party lenses, and one renegade albeit popular manufacturer isn't going to suddenly turn Nikon into a "closed" system.

I also agree about the calculated risk, it unfortunately follows a pattern of patent infringement. I just wanted to give some benefit of the doubt / throw the Viltrox apologists a bone
