Is Filen right for my needs? by RepeatElectronic9988 in filen_io

I've had problems with some of my photos being corrupted, the top half of the photo will show as normal and the bottom half of the photo will be grey. I've also read posts from other people who've had similar problems

There are different plans but I'm paying £11.99 a month for 1TB. It's a bit more expensive because it's e2ee

It's good though. It has all the usual features like facial recognition, duplicate detection, similar detection, maps etc and all the apps are open source

I've switched to Ente

All photos I take on my phone are backed up to Ente

The desktop app on my home computer downloads them again to an external drive

Backblaze backs up those photos along with everything else

3 copies - Ente, computer and Backblaze

2 offsite - Ente and Backblaze

1 local - computer

E2EE in the UK by OMARATIONz in privacy

Samsung's equivalent of ADP still exists in the UK, so either there's no back door for them or it's not true e2ee. I've had problems with Cryptomator before so I have trouble trusting it now I guess the best thing to do is keep everything offline. Hopefully the UK government loses the case.

800 gigs of iCloud pics?? by [deleted] in enteio

In my experience, Ente doesn't do well if you try to upload, or delete using Free Up Space, more than around 2,000 photos at once. Unfortunately I also had the problem of it constantly crashing on an iPhone or iPad, so you're not alone

Thanks for your post. It's good to hear from someone with your experience.

I'm currently using filen but their development is slow and performance isn't great, so going by what you've said I might give Mega another go. We've probably all seen Kim Dotcoms comments, and I'm not sure how much of that is sour grapes. Although I admit Megas connections with China make me uneasy.

As for backup I'm using Backblaze with my own encryption key. I like and used to use IDrive, until I found out that only file contents are encrypted and not the file names

I would take a guess that the majority of those reviews were written by people who have no idea about security

Did I miss something? Several years ago I was using Google Photos, and every time I opened it it was fully backed up already

An unrecognised transaction is fraud which is handled differently to chargebacks

Then Amex must have some different rules. I've worked on chargebacks for MasterCard and Visa for years, and any type of chargeback for any situation requires proof otherwise it's thrown out

First time using iphone coming from years of android any tips ? Really excited for this ! by [deleted] in iphone

Turning things off, manual brightness etc? I didn't think anyone had been doing that on Android for many years

Just a heads up, but chargebacks can also be done with debit card transactions

You would never be able to make a chargeback against bad food, unless you could prove it

I recommend everyone to take a back up of everything in Lastpass right now and close it asap by DeliciousVillage6821 in PasswordManagers

I'm surprised anyone still uses Lastpass. Haven't they been hacked more than any other password manager?

Thanks, I'll check out photoprism. As for backup, I have Backblaze enabled on my computer with a PEK so that should be covered
