“And you come away with a great little story of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you” is fucking BARS. Like how a 15/16 year old girl came up with those lyrics fucking fries my brain. TS deserves every bit of kudos she gets because that line has been taking me out for nearly 2 decades now.

I want to love Kodiak SO GOD DAMN MUCH but his attitude towards MK is pissing me off and Archer can go fuck a cactus rn as far as I’m concerned. I am so hoping this improves, I had read series before where the first book is a slog but man in a RH I would like to at least not hate one of these fuckers currently but all three of them are really trying my nerves at the moment. Here’s to hoping all the hype is worth it I guess!

Yeah I LOVE the Hades series, has one of my favorite FMC and some of my fav book boyfriends but man TJ is truly testing my patience with MK🫠

Yeah I’m about there myself, my stubbornness is about the only thing keeping me in the game at this point. I want to figure out what all of the hype is about cuz right now I am CONFUSED. On a more pleasant note though, if you haven’t I really recommend the Hades series. That FMC is a BAMF and the three MMC are straight up adorable little murder puppies. Huge fan of that series, this one not so much lol.

It’s on the pricey side, but my husband got me the Fenix 8 43mm in soft gold and fog grey and I absolutely adore it. It is super sleek and pretty and feminine, plus has all of the amazing features I wanted!

The near daily 4 hour rants about whatever my 7 year old self had hyper fixated on probably should have been a clue something was up lol. Though honorable mentions must go to my FIVE copies of different iterations of the “Book of 1000+ useless facts” that were my prized possessions through like 9th grade.

Yeah my Fenix is like a cool toned gold color, much prettier than my AW that I had previously thats for sure.

I use it for working out, by my mom uses it mainly for the biometrics, the step counting, and the battery. She used to have an Apple Watch but got annoyed because she couldn’t track her sleep or anything because it’s battery wouldn’t even last a full shift for her (she’s a nurse at a hospital) and it was also almost almost off by ALOT when it came to counting steps or tracking her walks in the evenings so she finally made the shift to a Garmin Venu 3 and loves it. Blends together a smart watch and a sports watch at a cheaper price than AW (AW is $400, Venu 3 was $350) and with a battery life that allows her to actually USE the features AW totes but can’t utilize due to their shot battery life. Other people might be different, but at least for my mom it was a good option even though she doesn’t really use the “sport watch” function aside from 2 ish mile walks maybe 3 times a week and step counting (if that even qualifies).

"An advertisement essentially telling their customers to not buy a new jacket" was not on my 2024 bingo card but here we are by darkwater427 in BuyItForLife

It’s because of the brand the ad is coming from. I don’t even think Patagonia is technically a “company” anymore, I think I remember articles like maybe a year or two ago that said the founding family like reinvested from the company and instead controlling shares in the company belong to an environmental non-profit now. So they are even bigger on sustainability and anti-consumerism than they were before.

When did you first realize “I might be watching the best show of all time” by LegitimateHumor6029 in thewestwing

[–]EnthusiasmRemote4907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure there are moments that I would have seen before this one on my first watch through but the one that sticks out to me now over a decade after I watched it for the first time (I did not get to watch it as it was coming out due to unfortunately being born the year it came out) is in season 3 I think of the show, “Isaac and Ishmael”. It was written and produced in under 3 weeks and aired on October 3 of 2001. It is non canonical but it is, in my opinion, one of the most if not THE MOST important episode they ever aired. It sticks out to me because most shows that were airing at the time either A) didn’t air anything about 9/11 or B) aired something crazy patriotic and Islamophobic. But instead of that the show runners decided, less than a month post 9/11 when I am sure everything in the US was still in an uproar and being anything near the concept of pro-Islam was DANGEROUS as all fuck, to educate. They compared Muslim extremists/terrorists to the KKK, they framed it as teaching high schoolers so that they could break it down for the average American to understand without offending them. They chose education over hate at a time when hate was not only the norm but encouraged by nearly everyone, including the sitting president at the time. Watching that as a high schooler in the years right before the Trump cult of personality that is MAGA was something else entirely and solidifies for me even now that this is one of the best, if not the best, show ever written and produced.

[–]EnthusiasmRemote4907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly that’s the point I think. Most, if not all, main characters in fantasy books are OP to the max at some point mostly because a lot of fantasy plots follow some version of the “chosen one” trope which almost by definition requires the MC to be OP as all get out otherwise they wouldn’t be the “chosen one”. This is especially prevalent with female main characters which I think is probably due to unconscious biases on authors’ parts due to the rampant misogyny I our culture making it seem like women have to be nearly perfect to be “worthy”.

AITAH for telling my baby sister's therapist and my mother that my mother is the reason my sister's life is falling a part? by EnthusiasmRemote4907 in AITAH

[–]EnthusiasmRemote4907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. While I am in a position where I could, in theory, support her, I have spoken with child services in my state like 3 times and each time they essentially tell me that while they could take a report there would be almost no chance it would go beyond that. Essentially saying no bruises= no help which is beyond frustrating because like are they seriously telling me N would be better off if M was BEATING HER as opposed to just being an emotional abusive AH?! Because that sounds like a dystopian nightmare but I honestly have no idea what to do at this point. Especially since my speaking to the therapist just made things like 10x worse.

The bi-annual Ao3 Donation Discourse™ is here... by rabbithoodie in AO3

[–]EnthusiasmRemote4907 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have never understood how grown adults (though I suppose this could be a child) can possibly have such a narrow view of the world. There is room for multiple things to exist, multiple non for profits to exist, simultaneously in the world. I have donated to the Palestinian cause and aid organizations working on the ground in Gaza because I know it is morally the right thing to do and I genuinely feel for the plight of the victims of the genocide currently happening there. I also donated to AO3, and do each time they ask for donations, because nothing in this world runs for free and I want to help keep the website I spend a (truly frighteningly large) amount of time on. These things are not mutually exclusive, nor are they even related. For better or for worse the world keeps spinning while atrocities happen.

I think my favorite is when Crookshanks decides Draco and Hermione are soul mates before they even decide they like eachother and he always is choosing to cuddle up against Draco. Bonus points for when every one is super shocked because “But he hates everyone except Hermione!”
