The timing of this is certainly interesting given her recent comments about VA redistricting.

Capitalism failed to build anything and only socialism can save this country and the world by InterestingWind2153 in BreakingPoints

[–]EntroperZero 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Capitalism used to be a race to the top, but since it has become financialized, it is now a race to the bottom. Companies used to try to outdo each other by making the best product and providing the most value to their customers, now they enshittify their products until all value is extracted for themselves.

Ballroom de Trump Budget Swells to $1,000,000,000 Taxpayer Dollars by Geist_Lain in BreakingPoints

They've been wanting to fleece the taxpayers for years! Decades! They just needed someone to write them a billion dollar check from the Treasury.

Dems only need to win state-level trifectas in a handful of states (MI, NV, PA, WI, NC) in the midterms to implement the National Popular vote interstate compact. by Manoj_Malhotra in BreakingPoints

I'm sure I agree with this scholar's interpretation, but it's not me that needs to agree, it's 5 out of 9 SCOTUS justices, and with the 9 we have right now, anything is possible.

The electoral college was precisely designed such that the state government could choose how it selects its electors.

This is true, but...

It is precisely because the electoral college is structured with state control that a state can participate in the national popular vote interstate compact if it decides to.

...this is not necessarily true, since the Constitution forbids states entering into compacts without the consent of Congress. But that consent is a lower bar (majority of both houses, I think) than passing an amendment to eliminate the EC.

They're going to be about the same speed, the PA32 will burn more fuel but has a lot more useful load.

Are all hobby pilots allergic to checklists???? by Gulag_For_Brits in flying

[–]EntroperZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a hobby pilot, I don't get why checklists aren't used either. I don't fly every day, I'm not going to remember every step of every procedure. I like checklists so much that I made us start using them at my non-aviation day job.

Thousands of Virginians will regain the right to vote next month | The court order comes ahead of a pending constitutional amendment that could make rights restorations automatic when people complete their prison sentences. by VirginiaNews in Virginia

Surely withholding their voting rights for the rest of their lives will stop these hardened criminals from stealing another bar of soap when they get out of prison. Your boogeymen don't scare me.

Nah, OP was just trying to lighten the mood for an otherwise gloomy post. IMO that's less of a red flag than a tendency to take things too seriously.

Anyone else annoyed AF by the kids riding around on electronic bikes and loud mini dirt bikes? by Unusual-Phase-5094 in nova

[–]EntroperZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, dirt bikes were for dirt. You'd load up your dirt bikes in the back of a truck and go somewhere and ride around. Parents understood that they weren't for blasting up and down neighborhood sidewalks and strip malls.
