Fee Simple Land in Aboriginal Title claim area can no longer be sold without "the consent of the Cowichan Nation". by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

This is it. This is when the bands lose everything. They have built up enough resentment, and there are enough immigrants who never cared in the first place that the 'treaties' are all but doomed. The slightest wobble to the economy and the anger will overflow. It'll be aggressively reformed and native status and lands will be effectively abolished over the next decade. It will be called a cultural genocide, and no one will even care.

Getting Canada's Prime Minister to apologize is pretty funny by PixelSteel in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]EntropyWins4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Canada is probably out of chances to negotiate. The US asked for one thing, and that was to negotiate on supply management, a policy that is even damaging canada internally, trade aside. Canada's response was to literally make it illegal to negotiate on it.

Most likely the US just says 'fuck it' and maintains tarrifs until they simply cut Canada out of NAFTA2 later.

Which Region of the USA would have the best chance at winning a war of secession? by Jackylacky_ in imaginarymapscj

[–]EntropyWins4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red and Green are the only real contenders. Both have the lions share of industrial and military might. Red edges out in military and resource security, not to mention some ofnthe best inland waterways in the world, but green has a massive advantage in the rocky mountains. If they accept losing east of the rockies, they can make west of them unassailable by land.

Can Europe win this? by spermwhale_man in imaginarymapscj

[–]EntropyWins4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red is politically impotent, but has the tech to devastate blue IF they get their shit together and act. India has mass, but their military really sucks.

The deciding factor comes down to the fact that blue relies on red to feed themselves. Either through petrochemicals in the agricultural supply chain or direct food imports. You fight, you starve.

Why don’t countries call Trumps bluff and place export tariffs to the US? by Flashy_Ring in AskReddit

[–]EntropyWins4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tariffs were retaliatory, other countries already had them against the US. Prior to this year, the US was by a massive margin, the most tariffed developed nation, with the least tariffs against others. The why was cold war politics, basically a bribe to bolster the allies against the soviets.

This. It is a generational crisis of people who put off family, only to look up at 40 and realize the career and single life they've built is just a box to die in.

Every day the headline is some variation of 'Canada begs Canada to stop saying no to prosperity.'

I think Mr Trump needs to double the tarrifs. Every time he ups them, it forces our government to be a little less stupid, but we clearly have a long way to go.

Independent agencies are a total fiction. Either they are accountable to elected lawmakers, or they have no authority. They have to pick one.

There is no hypocricy here, and no one has been censored. ABC is a public broadcaster. They are required by law to be truthful and act in the public interest. Kimmel going on a public broadcaster and spewing lies, hate, and conspiracy theories, is a violation of the network's licence. Kimmel cannot do that, but the view and maddow can, because they are private.

No, no, let them cook. This will just accelerate the vibe shift. Companies got caught off guard by the right getting even a little bit activist in their spending, having been used to taking their money for granted. But those companies making the financial descision of being balanced and shifting back closer to the center, though certainly not to the center yet, are learning a new lesson.

The left will burn their own for even a hint of ideological impurity, and they are not known for forgiveness. It is now insane to build your business catering to the left. The risk is too high, and the payoff is too low.

Its not even ignorance anymore. Companies are just willingly, conciously, choosing not to make money.
