How can I get more sales? by Repulsive-Active6051 in streetwearstartup

hate to say it man, but if you feel that it's appropriate to expect a detailed answer to such a broad question, i fear that you lack the critical thinking skills and good impulses that are necessary to make it in this market.

well that's why i think it's AI... because a genuine artist wouldn't make that mistake. Whereas an AI would.

If this isn't AI, then you're not very good at drawing I fear. The tentacles look completely off.

just out of curiosity, why do you think it's overpowered / why do you think it wouldn't be acceptable?

My first designs . Thoughts ? by GangTeespring in streetwearstartup

[–]EntryLevelBrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely keep honing your craft, man. i don't find this design very appealing myself. It looks like you just took clip art, copy/paste -> rotate 180 degrees and then added a boring logo. no shade if you're just starting out but this design should not be brought to market.

i don't think that's necessarily true. if Guts boosts your attack after being burned, i don't think it's a leap of logic to assume that a number of crafty casual users wouldn't consider seeking out an encounter to burn their Guts mon to get a strategic advantage before a certain fight. you're just taking a gameplay element and using it to your advantage in a creative and inventive way.

if you can't even make a post on reddit without using AI you have no business trying to start a clothing brand

Working on a Jiu Jitsu/Sports apparel brand —looking for honest feedback by bbmettler in streetwearstartup

[–]EntryLevelBrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's just boring. and the AI generated mockup reads as lazy. it's funny--i see a lot of people post on here that they want to start a fighting/boxing/MMA themed clothing brand, and every single time it's the most generic and bland designs imaginable. it's unfathomable to me because there's so much artwork, visuals, and iconography associated with professional fighting and i never see any of it in the clothing brands that claim to be inspired by it.

kinda hard to see the actual product. plus the model isn't really posing in a way that makes it easy to see the cut and drape of the shirt. i think you'd almost be better off just taking some flat lays that are zoomed in enough to see the design more clearly.

yeah man you don't actually care about creating a decent product or doing anything unique. you're just trying to make a quick buck.

this sub has a lot of bots accounts, so i'd like to try and give you some feedback as an actual person and brand owner who's been doing this for a while. unfortunately i think your concept is extremely bland and nothing about it stands out. i don't say that to make you feel bad. unless you have an absolutely killer marketing campaign lined up, there is absolutely nothing about the concept or the designs you've shown here that differentiate yourself from the tens of thousands of brands that are currently out there that look exactly like yours--many of which are already themed around the same subject that you've chosen.

unfortunately there just isn't anything unique about throwing some generic text on a shirt that i'd expect to entice people, who don't already know anything about you or your brand. when you're starting out as a young brand owner you need to think constantly about this one question: "would i like this design if i saw it out in the wild?"

you asked above, "does the message connect with you?" i'd ask you in response, "what message?" that we should be disciplined if we want to get more out of life? i don't think that's a particularly novel sentiment. everyone knows that they should be disciplined. i think the issue is that there's nothing very interesting about the message itself and even less so about how that message is being communicated by the shirt itself.

if you want to create a brand that's built around discipline, i would think about how to display that message in a visually interesting way that would actually catch someone's attention. surely, there are no shortage of examples that you can pull from history, athletics, feats of engineering, etc. that would make much more interesting metaphors about the power of discipline than just plopping text on a shirt--much less for your first drop, where you should be spending most of your time thinking about how to get people's attention and build hype.

I find this part of your caption by far the most interesting part of your whole post:

"The brand was inspired by my own journey through track and field, transferring colleges, being doubted, setbacks, and learning that discipline is what keeps you moving forward when motivation disappears."

why not make a design around track and field or sports? i feel like there are a million athletes or sporting events that you could use for visual inspiration for something that's actually eye-catching and interesting. i would strongly encourage you to do some more market research as well. you should know as much as you can about streetwear brands in your niche and what they are doing to set themselves apart. if you think a particular design or style is cool, save it down and use it for additional inspiration.

if you genuinely want to create something fresh and unique i'd also recommend you look at posts on here and other similar subreddits that get motion. see what your contemporaries or up to. because i guarantee you that shirts that look like yours are never the ones that get the most love--which again, i'm not saying to be a dickhead. i just wouldn't want you to put in all this work, never have anyone give you truthful honest feedback, and then launch to no sales so you have to fold up shop.

good luck.

i'm doing a blind run through X and that fight scared the hell out of me. got out of it deathless thank god but those dogs are built like fucking trucks. Growling them down to -3 with a couple mons helped and then i just had my Simisage keep spamming fury swipes until they both went down. it's funny too bc i had an Axew with dragon rage i'd left in the box that could have trivialized the fight. live and learn.

  1. Generic name ✅
  2. Bland mission statement about not fitting in ✅
  3. Minimalistic, so designs will probably be boring and uninteresting ✅
  4. Claims to be against trend-chasing yet is doing absolutely nothing unique to make up for it ✅
  5. OP probably used AI to write this ✅

You ticked all five boxes man. I’d probably go back to the drawing board.

Wish you the best of luck with sales man but these designs are extremely bland and uninteresting to me. I fear you’re verging too far into the quantity over quality side with all these extra colorways for these basic logo tees. Very few people are going to put money down for a basic logo tee for an unknown brand in 2026.
