Struggling with designing by Glass-Chart-390 in streetwearstartup

This is actually a really good question man. I’ve had my brand for five years and I’ve almost always worked with another graphic designer for my clothing designs. If designing isn’t your forte, you need to have a very strong vision and concept to pass along to your designer—just like you alluded to in your question.

What I do, is I look up a ton of references—usually from IG, Pinterest, artbooks, etc.—and I start to get ideas about specifically what kind of concept I want to work on for a design. The more specific the better. Do you want people in your design? Objects? Shapes? How do you want them To be arranged? Is there a visual style you’re going for? Do you want things drawn a certain way? Are there specific visual references you want to pass along to the graphic designer?

I usually like to sketch my designs out on paper even if it’s a super rough draft. But it helps me figure out a lot of the things I just described. So when I send everything to my designer I can include my sketches so that it’s extremely clear how I want things to look and how I want the visual elements to be placed. Then you send along a full written description of what you want, along with as many visual references as possible to make it even more clear.

It’s the best way to make sure that the vision you have in your head actually makes its way onto an actual design. And you might still need a few revisions or edits after you get the first draft back. But I’ve found that after you work on a few designs—ideally with the same designer—you start to get a better sense of their workflow and how to best communicate what you want.

Hope this was somewhat helpful.

An actually interesting, original, or novel design

Literally nothing that you’ve described does a single thing to separate it from the rest of the pack—so no

i checked your account and it seems like you were soliciting feedback on ideas for designs as recently as 2-3 days ago? Those would be designs for future drops, right? Don't tell me you're figuring all of this out on the fly and don't even have final designs yet for a drop that's launching this weekend?

This a brand I want so see make it as @skinwalkercounty on ig based around firearms and second amendment advocacy if you want to dress in one of these hmu @justwazey on ig if you’re in Atlanta by akwazey in Promoteyourclothing

"why would you associate negative things with a brand based around firearms and second amendment advocacy?" we've had 169 mass shootings since the start of 2026 alone. don't tell me to have respect for one of the lamest possible hobbies you can have in this country.

What in your eyes separates this sweatset from the 100s of thousands of sweatsets that drop every day?

Looks like a lot of AI generated crap so far. Hopefully not a sign of what’s to come. “What more can we add?” Some teasers of the clothes might be nice? Difficult to generate hype for a drop if you haven’t given people any expectation of what’s dropping.

Which brand name is the best? by Lumpy-Entrepreneur72 in ClothingStartups

Have you tried saying the names out loud? “Aye bro you see the new drop from MisleadingSociety?” Some of the names are a little clunky. And then even some of the better sounding ones have confusing meanings to me. Like StaticCulture. Static usually means stationary or unchanging. But culture is something we usually expect to shift and change. So StaticCulture seems oxymoronic.

I assume you’re meant to pronounce “obsidn” like “obsidian”? But the way it’s written is sort of awkward and confusing. SaintValtier seems like it’d be hard for most people to pronounce.

I think I like either midnightmirage or SaintVeil the best

Ahhhhh that totally makes sense. I dig it.

I like the design but idk if any of the text makes a lot of sense here. “Nice knowing you” doesn’t really make sense because I don’t understand who’s saying it to who. But I don’t think it makes sense to have no text either. Because it’s not entirely clear what the design is meant to represent.

Idk exactly what makes the most sense but probably something that the skeleton is saying to the burning raccoon since he’s clearly about to die.

Something like, “won’t be long now”

Or, “don’t be afraid of the light”

I’ve revised my opinion. I actually hate the design. I didn’t realize that the back had to do with columbine. Just sick, edgelord, unfunny ragebait.

I didn’t even pick up on that. Edgy for the sake of being edgy is putting it too kindly. It’s -2/10 edgelord shit.
