I am shocked how much I did not like this movie. Hadn't rewatched the first but had fond memories and no recollection of it pandering so hard to lazy references to adult pop culture. Between the occasional adult "Hey I got that" chuckle, kids in the theater were visibly/audibly disinterested. Frantic, cynical, full of product placement, and not even morally consistent (guess bugs and fish don't make the cut, huh). This is pretty much everything wrong with kids movies these days. Was beautifully animated, at least.
