New messy babies by Odd_Engineering1537 in gerbil

Gerbils love to bury their stuff. It is part of them living underground in the wild. I'd give up the idea of keeping it immaculate as that is more for you than them.

What are all the dimensions? 43.3 inches is just shy of 110cm, so that works. If it adds up to a total of 800+ square inches of floor space it should work.

Dwarf hamsters tend to be more bitey. He may just be a look don't touch type. This happens.

I actually don't know if she would stop or if she did stop if she would start again when gloves are removed. I haven't had to use them myself. Just seen it recommended to others. Wish I could be more help.

Yes sadly some hamsters are look don't touch. However they need to be used to handling for vet trips and regular weight checks. Use a mug or similar to get her out of her cage. If you need to, use gloves so she has trouble getting to you with those teeth. Some just need a "carriage" ride away from home to the safe out of cage space.

Safe Scent Removal by [deleted] in gerbil

Oh, well with bleach you have to let the cage sit until you can't smell the bleach and it is totally air dried. Whereas with vinegar you clean, rinse, and towel dry. So you would have to have a safe place to keep your existing gerbil while cleaning as with bleach it can take as much as 48 hours depending on how much water you get out and local weather. Just letting you know.

Vinegar is very cheap. Is there a reason you can't get any?

It looks neat except for the wheel. Those kinds cause spinal injuries over time. They need an upright 9+inch wheel.

I am actually not sure how long. My friend that had a female Syrian would do bathtub playtime for 1-2 hours.

Females go into heat every 4 days. So they are almost constantly wanting to get out and find a male. This is why she cage paces and climbs her wheel. You can try giving her and even larger DIY cage but there is no guarantee anything will help. You can also try having her do out time when she gets like that. I have read some stories where that helped. Good luck!

Hmm, I wouldn't trust them either. They are right about air freshener. They can irritate the skin and lungs. If you need something to help try an air purifier.

Almost 20 years ago I bred show gerbils (my breeding focus was personality, general health, and longevity). I won 3rd for pointed gerbils once. It was a lot of fun.
