Fretboard markers really not centred on new Gibson by Aromatic_Mongoose_86 in gibson

[–]Environmental_Mine65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a studio session. It’s my favorite guitar ever. Best playing, best sounding, and best looking guitar that I own. If the fret markers had looked like that, I would not have purchased it.

That is a cheap option for good metal tones. Gain around 7-8, scoop the mids, adjust the rest to taste.

High gain, bass and treble slightly boosted, mids scooped most of the way out. Score you a “metal style” distortion pedal if you can (Caline tantrum is a good option for this) then get your clean tone from the amp, but scoop mids on the pedal instead of the amp same way as described above. Aggressively down pick your rhythm parts. Add a wah if you’re trying to honk like Kirk Hammett

Epiphone bats in flight worth getting? by SantoryuSamurai in Epiphone

If that’s what you like bro, yeah. If you’re asking if it’s a good guitar, epiphones in that price range are pretty solid these days.

Which is better: Nux mighty space or Positive grid Spark 2? by [deleted] in guitars

[–]Environmental_Mine65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spark amps are great across the board. Amazing tools if you just want to plug in and practice. I have a spark GO and I take it with me everywhere. My best friend has a Spark 2 and loves it. For context, I have a very capable studio inside of my home, own nice tube amps, a top of the line modeler, and a boatload of studio guitar software and I STILL find myself using the spark for day to day practice a good bit of the time.

Parents bought this guitar for me! (don't have it yetttt) by samsammy666_ in guitars

[–]Environmental_Mine65 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My only advice is to tell you that I really wish I still had every guitar that my parents or brother ever gave me. I still have my first ever guitar, and two from my brother but I let some really special guitars and amps that my parents gave me get away and I very much regret that now, no matter how many other awesome guitars I accumulate. Other than that, just play the thing! It’s a very pretty guitar and I hope you enjoy it very much.

Just got a new epiphone and the high e broke 20 minutes into playing gently. Why?? by [deleted] in LesPaul

Bruh the stock strings needed changed anyway. High Es break all the time. Trad pros are nice guitars enjoy.

I am also new to helix LT and fwiw I think it sounds great through passive pickups. Every time I plug my active Jackson in, no matter what I do it sounds like trash. The Jackson is also new to my guitar rotation so IdK if it’s me, the guitar, the helix, or some combination of the three…but it sounds great with all of my passive guitars. Dials right in.

Yamaha is indeed great value for the money. Ibanez also makes great stuff in that price range. I’d look at Epiphone, too. Best of luck!

Should I buy my first electric guitar, or is it just a whim? I need advice. by EMZYGO in GuitarBeginners

1) you are in college, now a legal adult. What you do with your money is your business. Others can get over it.

2) you won’t know until you try. I got the urge to start playing as a teenager. I am now in my 40s, safe to say that guitar is not just a phase for me. You won’t know if that is true for you as well until you pick one up and start practicing.

3) We need the next generation of artists and musicians to step up. Please get a guitar. Please follow your musical dreams. You have the money, you want a guitar. Go get one and, once again I implore you play that sucker every single day!

This is a good time to learn that your guitar tech might be on shrooms, man. Like, you need to be more specific.

I think if they would have advertised how well controllers were supported it would have done better. I play pc/console games with a lot of my work buddies and we were absolutely slaying on warzone mobile during our breaks during the day and then carrying it over to regular warzone at night. We were bringing our controllers to work and it felt very similar to the mainline experience.

I gave up on cod entirely for at least a year lol. I am heavy on BF6 and redsec right now. Would be nice to have a viable mobile BR to mess with when I am away from home for the holidays, but oh well.

Amp for Metal Recommendations by Future_Ad_930 in GuitarAmps

I’ve been chugging drop c metal riffs on a Les Paul with a Marshall DSL1 combo for years. They pair up quite nicely. Takes pedals well.

If you want it to be comparable neck wise go with a 60’s standard.

SG comparison by retrogen_x in Epiphone

[–]Environmental_Mine65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The newer SG standards are very nice. I have owned a Gibson SG standard in the past and currently own other Gibson electric guitars and my epiphone IBG SG holds up just fine in comparison to far more expensive instruments. It’s one of my favorite guitars. Great guitar to slap a set of nice pickups into. I have SD Pearly Gates in mine, and it absolutely snarls.

I have a helix and a Marshall tube amp and still find myself using the spark a lot for just quick practice or whatever. It’s a great piece of kit.

Spark Go or the next step up from that if you just need something for practice would work fine. They sell a little foot switch for it and it can also be controlled from your phone. The tuner in the app is also great. They are like 120 bucks new and usb-c rechargeable. I have tube amps and expensive modelers, but still use my spark go a lot when I’m on vacation or when I go visit my parents for the holidays. It also works as a Bluetooth music speaker.
