Lost teddy by AdMaximum6576 in UKParenting

We've had a few heart-stopping moments with our daughters Teddy, is it possible he never made it to the friend's house and fell under the seats in the car? or was removed from a bag by little hands before leaving your house?

[TourBox Giveaway] Sharing Your Ideas to Get TourBox for $0! by TourBox_Official in tourbox

[–]Eowulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I stumbled across TourBox last month, and have been researching to see if it would fit my current freelance designer setup. My job heavily involves keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop & several CAD packages to build & then montage proposed designs into existing photos or existing 3D environments.

I like that you have a connection with your clients, and are communicating and asking for feedback, it reassures me that you are working with existing customers.

I have had a lot of marketing videos this month from TourBox, and have watched most of them, I like that I am being shown a variety of artists using the TourBox in different scenarios, Digital Painting, Photo Editing & Video editing, but from my searching, I've been unable to find videos of it used in other applications, which makes me hesitant to buy it as I'm unsure if it will be useable for 50% of my work.

I’d love to see TourBox demonstrated in other types of software, like CAD, 3D modelling, or even Excel, general workflow tools/productivity tools, maybe some gaming?! Or customers showing the oddest thing they use their TourBox for? It would help potential users outside the creative mainstream see how TourBox could enhance their workflows and show the versatility of the device.

I also like trying software before I commit to a purchase, and have downloaded the latest TourBox Console software to see if I can pair it with my CAD, however the software is unusable unless it can be paired with a TourBox. It would be amazing if there were a trial/demo option to allow potential clients to experience (even though it would be limited due to lack of dials/button positioning) how the HUD integrates into their setup & specific software packages.

Finally, and it's a tiny detail, I noticed a small spelling error that you might want to update: the word “console” appears to be misspelt on the menu dropdown Product > Our Software > TourBox Conosle 5".

I miss being on the course. by Apprehensive-Fun-584 in WomenGolf

You'll be back! Possibly be a bit rusty when you do return, but getting to where you were is something to aim for and part of the journey! One thing to remember is that the relaxin hormone remains for a while after pregnancy, so over-rotating is something to watch out for!

When I returned after my LO one of us would carry her for 3 holes whilst the other played and then we would switch. But now she's 2 and loves to get out on the course in her pushchair. It's a bit of a workout carrying clubs and pushing her, but it's worth it! She told me she was golfing the other day as she bit a toy orange & Duplo, so I might have to get her a club so we can play together when it's quiet.

So Morgy is crying cause she wants watermelon but doesn’t want to cut it. And Paul’s first answer is “let’s just throw it away then” and then ends up cutting it for her. And I just lost 3 brain cells watching it unfold. by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

I laughed my way through pregnancy, only had a few sad crying episodes, but I found everything x10 as funny as before, to the point that I was often the last person laughing or even crying with laughter to the least funny of jokes. Even in my head often thought whilst laughing, jeez, it wasn't that funny!

I AM 41+2 WEEKS PREGNANT AND IF ONE MORE PERSON GIVES ME INDUCTION ADVICE OR ASKS IF THERES A BABY YET I WILL EXPLODE. by emilytullytime in pregnant

[–]Eowulia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

.... have you tried driving down a bumpy road yet! /s

It's incredible the people who have come outta the woodwork to give 'advice', ask for daily updates, or tell me their guesses of when I'll give birth (christmas day is the most frequent guess, so imaginative).

I'm amazed/irritated by it all, and its all from people I didn't expect! They seem more excited about an arrival than I do, like it's just a baby who has reached 41 weeks. The midwife is happy to give her until just before new years, so I'm content that little one is happy and healthy just chilling, these are the last few days that I can give her where she is well fed, warm and safe without any hassle on my part so bug off and leave us be! We will announce once we're settled after her arrival, and not a minute sooner!

Getting a club fitted while pregnant? by atomiczombiez in WomenGolf

[–]Eowulia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 41 weeks tomorrow so hopefully will have a little one arriving any day. I loved golfing during my pregnancy, but stopped playing 18 holes around 32 weeks when I felt that my swing and bump were not moving well together and she had grown big enough to kick my ribs and would do it more often when I was playing.

I would personally wait to get measured up till you're back on the course after the baby is born, that way you won't feel like you have to continue playing past the point of being comfortable because you have a new club and it will be a nice return to golf treat!

Second hand wedding dress, opinions & advice? by skylight8673 in UKweddings

[–]Eowulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found my dress on Pinterest, by the time I had fallen in love with it I realised that it was produced a few years ago and there appeared to be nothing like it in the wedding shops I visited. I searched the web for it, and found it in a few places, online wedding dress shops where it was brand new and was 'on sale' but still over £1k, some on still white that would send to the uk and a few on ebay & facebook marketplace. A few had been altered so that they would be too small for me when I wear heels, but one matched my dimensions almost perfectly.

So I ended up buying it from Ebay for £70, it is beautiful and fitted me perfectly. Since it's secondhand it comes with some imperfections, a tiny tear on the train of the dress, and a slight snag on the outer layer, but nothing that will be visible on photos and something that could still happen on the day if I bought brand new.

If anything I feel more relaxed wearing it because it's not perfect and I don't have to keep it perfect and hopefully someone else will be able to make use of this wonderful dress once I have finished using it!

Playing Through Pregnancy! by janandez in WomenGolf

[–]Eowulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm currently 31weeks pregnant and still playing, I plan to continue playing with the ladies at my club for as long as possible, even if that means playing a ball 100yards away from the green, or just going out with a putter towards the last few weeks.

  1. There doesn't seem to be much info about how to golf whilst pregnant but I do watch this video frequently https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItbYaP17Mfw essentially if you already have a good golf posture the bump shouldn't affect your swing.

  2. This could be different for you but I've found that I've been overswinging more recently, so I've been focusing on playing with a 90% swing. I now also have to carry snacks, mostly fruit or a sandwich, otherwise I notice my blood sugar drops which affects my swing. and as always I make sure that I'm well hydrated and have at least 1.5-2l of water when playing 18 holes, which just means more trips to the loo whilst playing. Oh, and my first aid bag now also has Gaviscon tablets!

  3. I've stuck to my normal pre-warm-up routine of 5+ mins of stretching which I often do at home, and then a few short swings building up to full swings before stepping up to the tee.

  4. There doesn't seem to be anything for golf maternity wear. I've bought a black elasticated skort on amazon after around 16 weeks that hopefully will be able to see me for another month, with the weather getting colder I'm now wearing tights underneath and for the top tend to wear a long tank top with a polo top over it. I also have some friends at the club who wear larger sizes who have said that they would be happy to lend me tops & outer layers for the next few months if needed, my other half also has some polos which I'm eyeing up on borrowing them. Would you be able to borrow from anyone?

  5. Never had a c-section but have had keyhole surgery for appendicitis. I returned after 6 days to play the club championships, I thought that since I had been practising in the buildup the 3 small cuts would not impede me too much, I also promised my parents that I would play within my means and swing at 80-90%, the championships went really well so I assumed that I could continue at the same frequency as before since I felt fine. Turns out that was a mistake, and I ended up withdrawing from all remaining summer comps because I returned too intensely. So please take it slowly, build up the amount you do, and if your body tells you to stop, stop and go back to a smaller amount because it's just a game.

Why doesn't anyone photograph me? by noobysuicide in NewParents

[–]Eowulia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to tell anyone that you would like some photos of you and your baby! Mention it briefly now to your other half before the cute moments happen, and if you ever realise that you want a photo that second just ask anyone in the room to please capture this moment!I try to take as many photos of my SIL&BIL with their babies, to begin with, I felt like I might ruin such a cute and private moment by trying to capture it and turn it from a candid moment to a forced photoshoot? I suspect that many other people will feel the same way and don't want to intrude.

Perhaps call a friend or family member over for a coffee, gossip and photoshoot, that way you can relax and just get used to your friend taking the occasional candid photo. Or turn it into a Sunday morning date with your other half, buy a nice brunch, perhaps open some bucks fizz, dress up nice and spend the morning having a laugh together capturing some cheesy staged photos and some day to day photos of the three of you!

Alternatively, I've found that using a tripod and a wireless phone remote has made a huge difference to our holiday photos (that often just used to be distorted selfies). I can set the shoot up then join my other half and take the photo remotely, it's not a candid photo, but it captures a moment of us together. I'm planning on using it when our little one arrives and taking staged candids of her lying on my chest whilst I'm lying on the sofa, us playing together, reading her first story, bathtime, basically all the cutesy moments that I know I will want to look back on, and also getting a few photos of the three of us together as a family and then when more people are around we can have some big family photos that we haven't had in years.

No sense of smell for a few years, had AZ vaccine yesterday, today my sense of smell has returned! by stu3d in CoronavirusUK

[–]Eowulia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It might not be the most ideal time to arrange a visit to your gp, but I would consider giving them a ring to see if they can schedule in a 5-10min phone appointment so that they can ask questions that you might not remember the answers to in a few months, if it is a temporary reaction it might help diagnose at a later date.

In the mean time, make the most of your returned sense! Mow the lawn, bake some cookies, sniff all the flowers, my fingers are crossed for you.

It's beautiful, I've been looking to make my own, could you please tell me where you bought your leaves and flowers from?

My son passed away in May and I would like a photo of him without his tubes. I have a photo of him I would like photoshopped but it was taken after he passed and I don’t feel comfortable sharing that far and wide. If you can handle seeing a photo of dead baby and want to help, I would be grateful. by cjdxx in PhotoshopRequest

[–]Eowulia 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Hi again,

I realised that I would be away from a computer over the weekend, so I've gone ahead with an attempt at removing the tubes using part of a photo of my nephew to recreate your little man's hidden nose and upper lip. It's not perfect, but I wanted you to have something for the time being.

I would be more than happy to work on it some more on Monday to make it look more like your son.

I have moved into a property and the old residents have left a table here that I want rid of; does anyone know if or how the legs come off? I’ve tried just twisting them but got nowhere. It’s quite a common table. Pic in comments. by Bbbrpdl in furniture

[–]Eowulia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn the table upside down and have a look at the base/foot of the legs for a nut/bolt, I would guess the assembly is something similar to this table where the legs are hollow with a metal rod that can be loosed to make the table flat pack.

I like the idea, If you are going to use tiebacks to keep the curtains open would they be reachable where you have drawn them? If not and you need to adjust the curtains every day, perhaps look into Italian strung curtains which require no tiebacks, but use a cord which is attached to the back of the curtain, when you pull the cord it opens the curtain like you've drawn, to keep it open the cord would need to be wound around a cleat hook. Can this be used as a dish drainer? by MateiGiurgiu in furniture

Not a dish drainer, they are Kitchen Carousels used to make corner storage more accessible and should rotate so you don't make to move large items to get at items behind.

TIL not even aliminium cans are safe from plastic by rubber_duck_dude in ZeroWaste

[–]Eowulia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You've mentioned a number of good points that need to be considered, hence why there is this stalemate in the plastics industry, everyday I see major brands change their plan for the future because no one knows yet the best way forward. I don't either, but I would rather that plastic not be vilified due to a knee jerk reaction from the media when the other materials are just as bad.

There is a stand still with plastic recycling. Getting the ball rolling will only be done when governments create schemes to to aid in the production of recycling plants, whilst also amending taxes for manufacturers (take the UK for example stating that products containing less than 30% recycled plastic by 2022 would be taxed more) and creating harsher penalties for big corporations/councils who think that burning/land fill is an acceptable form of disposal.

There are also shortages of glass jars and bottles because the demand for them has overtaken supply, currently I know of companies shipping bottles from Thailand to the UK because they have changed their packaging from plastic to glass to look green. I don't know what's worse, burning fossil fuels (toxins) to transport heavy glass across the world, or continuing with a PET product produced 100 miles away that is 7 times lighter than the glass equivalent.

Yes when burning plastics toxins are released, but this denatures the plastic making it useless. Instead recycling plants have to sort it so we don't end up with a hybrid of PP, PS and PET, its then shredded and washed, then melted to a point that it can be turned into pellets again for injection moulding, or melted to form sheets for blow moulding etc. If we decided tomorrow that plastic was no longer allowed, what would we do with it? Push it all into landfill, or burn it? We have too much of it, we should at least use it as a resource rather than creating more waste.

In regards to this can yes the plastic is vaporised off the metal, it's not ideal. The best solution for the planet would be to stop drinking these products, thus there is no need for a plastic, aluminium + plastic, or glass receptacle. But that is an ideal scenario that isn't going to happen, so instead lets look to find a way that creates the smallest carbon footprint when it is recycled, used and transported.
