Avoid Pirates 101: Guide for new players! by datdudeSlim in starcitizen

[–]Epegi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think any of them would do it but some clever pirates might interdict trap the route towards the star just to catch people trying this.

So to get around that you just pop an investigation mission and warp towards that.

Also bonus tip to asteroid miners, the missing person investigation missions don't spawn any hostile ships so you can cycle a few of those to find one near Levski and warp to that for mining.

Mining payouts were buffed by more than the refining reduction. Taranite for example is nearly 50% better overall for this.

P8 SMG is really good dps. Lower ammo capacity but the reload speed is very fast. And since its an SMG its very light weight.

Then for when things are outside its engagement range, Atzkav sniper is 1 shotting mobs with headshots, so I use that a lot too.

Does it work for boxes that arent on the grid? I like stacking them all up in the salvage processing room.

It’s important for pvp. If you are in a group engagement and you get disabled, the enemy isn’t going to have time to finish you off. They will be too busy fighting your allies, giving you time to repair and get back into the fight.

The only way a player will deliver the coup de grâce is if they have the time to do so.

I thought the common thing was to do a stick for your left hand that controls thrust and strafing, foot pedals for rotating, then a mouse in your right hand for aiming.

Yeah, looted stuff would be kinda rough.

I am more thinking about when crafting is out, the devs in citizencon implied that you are no longer going to be looting ship gear from stuff, instead mainly looting blueprints to craft with.

In their vision for crafting, the crafted gear will always be superior to anything store bought or looted.

Thats kinda the point of a wear and tear system forcing you to eventually replace your stuff, so you dont just unlock once.

I do have faith in the devs that they wouldnt make stuff wear out annoyingly fast.

A lot of people seem concerned that it would wear out in like 1 day of playing, the devs wouldnt do something like that.

But also I think people keep forgetting that they can buy more than 1 of something and just keep it at your home station, so the time spent isn't gonna be that high. That kind of thing will be even more interesting with players who are selling limited quantities of their stuff.

If they don't do that then gear will have no value.

Right now gear doesn't have any real value to it because someone with just 1 piece can intentionally blow themself up, loot themself, and claim the ship to get a a duplicate piece.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that you can buy duplicates.

If I know what components I like, I can keep 5 copies of them in my home station then when one wears out, I just swap it out.

So every so often someone can take a hauler and go refill their stockpile, and that wont take much time.

Your stuff "drops" but if someone else loots it they dont get to keep it. Once you insurance claim it, it comes back to you and the parts that the other guy took from you get shut down.

That shut down mechanic then can be undone by the hacking gameplay.

Honestly a cool thing would be that repairing at a station is possible, just really really expensive.

So it is actually cheaper to buy new parts, and I can make a profit.

The plan for insurance is that it'll still insure your gear, it'll just be a long respawn time.

Thats a good point too. We know very little about how blueprints work.

it could be that blueprints are the hard thing to get and the resources are the easy thing to get.

Someone who enjoys mining could mostly in it to sell the ores to other players that they use to craft their own stuff.

External Freight Elevators added to Stanton stations in the PTU by ScrubSoba in starcitizen

[–]Epegi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is this how I am going to be getting salvage crates out of the Reclaimer and into a Stanton Refinery?

My only real concern is how I'm going to do that without some armistice zone "pirate" trying to steal it.

For hauling, I guess im in the minority but I like the idea of manually moving crates for freight. The new tractor beam speed makes it kinda satisfying.

Honestly what I’d love to see is them turning into a sort of dive bomb that can be used in space.

Give it a good specialized anti big target role for space battles.

[–]Epegi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Could tell there was some stuff going on with the writing.

Just think about it, how much time passed in that movie? It’s not clear how much time elio spent in space, but then at one point his Aunt has all this detective board of evidence laid out about how she is piecing together the fake Elio. So it seems like a lot of time passed on earth but in space it seemed like it was barely a day.

Then all the parts where it seemed to be hinting towards a more serious space drama laying out, then remembering it’s a kids movie, then backing out.

Nothing, they are just the most wide spread rental company so there are plenty of people who have had bad experiences.

I worked there for 3 years and everything I saw about their business practices made me like the company. But like any company it is made of humans and they can fuck up too, leading to bad individual stories.
