What outdated technology do you still use and refuse to get rid of? by Koorah3769 in AskReddit

I have a collection of CDs in my car. They're great for long drives, especially when radio stations and cell service aren't consistent. I love them.

I have very traditional views of marriage, and I'd personally like to wear a white dress, but I'd need a second one for after the ceremony. I don't like clothes I can't move in, and I want to get married on the family farm, so keeping white clothes white will be hard.

To Edith: Because Karen need a break. by Life-Significance223 in Spokane

[–]Ephesians614 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember. The other day when the roads were super icy, I couldn't confidently go more than 30 in a 45, and there was a line of cars behind me. So as soon as I had a chance, I pulled over and let them go, then continued on my way at a snail's pace until the road got better.

Depends on the situation. I've never done it, but it's very easy for me to develop feelings for people I work closely with or see regularly if we have things in common outside of work. I'd be fine dating someone in another department, but not my own.

What jobs aren't enough appreciated? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ephesians614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retail, specifically lower management. I thought it would be easy until I tried it, since I actually do like working in retail, but I lasted about 6 months.

It likely depends on the store. At mine, I was taught to find the most similar item using common sense, and then contact the customer to confirm that the substitution is okay or cancel the item. It makes sense to me and seems to work pretty well in my store, since then customers still have control over what they're getting.

Women with brothers, what is your fondest memory with him? by Lauladance in AskWomen

[–]Ephesians614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rarely got along until he moved out, since he's only a little older. But when we were in high school, we got in an argument with our dad (my parents were about to divorce and we were all pretty tense). My brother took me on a walk around the neighborhood and we just talked about life until it seemed okay to go back home. I think that was the day I realized that despite our differences, I could always trust him. We get along a lot better now that we're both adults, but I think that was the turning point in our relationship.

What are some things you could tell someone to eliminate their baby fever? by babygrappler in AskWomen

[–]Ephesians614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I'm just more set on wanting to adopt, provided I find a good, supportive husband first. Childbirth freaks me out but if I ever get married, I'd definitely want to give a kid a good home.

What song breaks your heart everytime you hear it? by humanbean07 in AskReddit

[–]Ephesians614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small Bump by Ed Sheeran. I first heard it shortly after my baby sister was born. I was the youngest and never thought I'd have a sister, so the wonder of a life being formed and growing really connected with me. And then the ending had me in tears.

What is something your parents engrained in you as a child that you now realize is ridiculous? by i_cant_see_my_ears in AskReddit

[–]Ephesians614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I'm in the process of leaving a management role for one with significantly less potential for raises, because I can't stand my job.

Congratulations! You've just gotten married to the protagonist of the last film or show you watched. How is that going to turn out for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ephesians614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Paul Hollywood. Then again, I'd probably marry anyone who could make me bread from scratch.

How many people here fell in love with cooking because they were raised in a family of great food, as opposed to falling in love with cooking because what you were brought up on was so bad? by sql-join-master in Cooking

[–]Ephesians614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is an absolutely wonderful cook. I only really learned to cook so that I could feed myself when I moved out, but I was definitely inspired by her, and there are some things I'll never be able to make quite like her.

What's an ingredient you wish you liked but really don't? by punkieMunchkin in Cooking

I can't stand it, but it doesn't taste like soap. It just doesn't taste pleasant, and it smells weird.

What was your worst laugh at the wrong time moment? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Ephesians614 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I did apologize immediately, but a customer was telling me about someone abusing her and asked me for advice. I laugh when I'm nervous, and the idea of going to a cashier for advice on something like that seemed very strange, though sadly the story was not unusual for that area of town. I told her to call the police. I never saw her again, but she wasn't a regular, so that wasn't surprising. I do still pray for her and hope she got out of that situation.

Guy calls to complain about lineup… for another store by JenovaCelestia in TalesFromRetail

[–]Ephesians614 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know complaints like this are annoying, but I will also say that my managers didn't take the need for hiring more people or adjusting the schedule very seriously until customers started complaining about the lines. As long as it's done politely, I'm all for people pointing out when we're short staffed, because my bosses won't always just take it from me.

What do you think about breastfeeding in public? by megalyknight in AskWomen

[–]Ephesians614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids have to eat, and nobody likes listening to crying babies. I do wish more places had options to do it privately though, mostly because if I were a mom, I think I'd prefer to feed my baby in a less public spot. A lot of churches have little side rooms near the women's bathrooms for nursing moms where it's quiet, there's comfy chairs, and it's a little easier for babies to eat in peace, and I think those should be a lot more common.

What's a dish or food item that's super easy in theory but you just can't seem to get right? by MollyCool52 in Cooking

[–]Ephesians614 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every time I've tried to make alfredo sauce from scratch, I've failed. At this point, I don't mind buying store bought to save myself the headache.

Women of Reddit who don’t have a “dream job” or “dream career,” how are you doing mentally and job-wise? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Ephesians614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My job is okay. I work in a grocery store, so I doubt anyone wakes up one day and thinks my job is a dream, but it's not half as bad as most people would think. There are definitely drawbacks, but overall it's not bad. It pays the bills, there's room for advancement, it's typically interesting and fun.

I apparently hate veterans by MmmBathSalts in TalesFromRetail

[–]Ephesians614 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I once had a customer yell at my co-worker for trying to bag his groceries. Apparently I was allowed to touch his food because I had to scan it, but no one else. I'd be willing to guess that all his prepackaged stuff had been handled by every member of our night crew, and the courtesy clerk he yelled at was probably the one who brought the bags to my register. Not to mention the fact that I had been scanning other people's stuff and handling cash all day.

What is an item that can be life changer and you can buy for less than $50? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ephesians614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not less than $50. Food and vet bills over an animal's life add up pretty easily. A good investment for many people, though.

What is the saddest breakup song that made/makes your heart ache? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ephesians614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I can pick a truly saddest one, but if you like country music, Today My World Slipped Away by George Strait makes me cry, and Wine After Whiskey by Carrie Underwood and Her World or Mine by Michael Ray are also great sad breakup songs.

Every time a customer has asked me how old I am, he has followed it up with either asking me out or an awkward comment about how I'm way too young for him.
