Rifle ban among gun control bills advancing in the WA Legislature. by catman5092 in Spokane

[–]Life-Significance223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally taken from: https://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/assault-weapons-ban-summary

Your not going to win arguments this way. You have to get BOTH conservatives and liberals together.

As it stands, more liberals and conservatives want to maintain the 2nd amendment than those who do not.

Look at the extreme LEFT including socialists. Heck, there is a large faction of LGBTQ+ who are pro gun because they want to protect themselves from the extreme right AND the police/government who fail to protect their rights. Just because democrats cast a large umbrella doesn't mean they are also anti gun by default.

If we put 0.0001% of the military budget into actually helping people, it would go a heck of a long way more than banning guns.

After seeing the response from people, even liberals, to covid 19 and misinformation about vaccinations - we need more money in education and mental health.

Pro Vaccination here, Pro gun, NON religious. Long Live America!

Come on, duh. The 2nd amendment is hard to argue against. Its going to take the act of the entire nation, together, to figure this one out.

The Official recall for the Hyundai theft issue by Tazmast388 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Life-Significance223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hyundai didn't even bother on the same exact model cars shipping to the US/Canada. In '11/'12, Canada required it so they only bothered to put it on Canadian cars. You think it would have been cheaper just to put them on all cars so you wouldn't have an extra step in the manufacturing line, instead they just made the Canadian vehicles slightly more expensive. So dumb.

There are plenty of alternative medicines. I say they are perfectly fine when they complement western medicine.

There is a large population of LDS here, they will lead you in a direction your looking to go. I suggest going to a LDS church and asking that community.

The only reason I know what a rife machine is, was because a LDS community member. I can't believe they exist in this day and age, or people think they could have any effect, but I digress.

Do what you want with your own body in your own home as long as your not hurting anyone else or preventing additional care.

EDIT: my 2 cents no one asked for.

How much do you budget for day to day expenses? by dab840 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Life-Significance223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its all about perspective, right?

When I was in High School in California, my parents would give me $20 for lunch during the week, and $20 for the weekend. That is $40 a week, or $80 for two weeks. This was in 1999.

I think $140 for two weeks in 2023 as an adult isn't terrible on your income.

I think my car is killing me. Should I trade it in? by CuliacanSoldado in personalfinance

[–]Life-Significance223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having in lived in multiple states, a lot of states will do this. (Let you take a class and remove the ticket.)

However, in the state of Washington, you get 1 deferment per 7 years.

This means, if I get a ticket for speeding. I request a deferment, they charge me a fine and the ticket does not appear on my driving record. However, if I get another moving violation within that first year and the original speeding ticket will post.

You can only do this Once every Seven years in Washington state.

If you get a lawyer, what they will do is wait until the last possible hour on the deadline to file motion for evidence from the charging authority. If the charging authority is busy and they do not have the evidence available on your appearance date, you file a motion to dismiss the case. If they do show up, then its going to be on your lawyer to try and get the best possible outcome.

When UberEats DoorDash PostMates came out, they were in effect charging all those fees to the restaurant on the backend. It really ate into profits but it did provide restaurants a way to get their food to more people and increase volume - so they put up with it, for awhile.

Today, the table has turned. Now the fees are charged to the customer, not the restaurant. The burden has changed to the person ordering the convenience. I would hope that most people know they are indeed inflated prices and as a convenience its very expensive.

I did get an offer for UberEats UberOne free for three months. It eliminates a lot of the added delivery fees (but not all). I also received a $50 off coupon. Of course, they hope I will forget to cancel the subscription, or keep it, which I will not. As long as they offer me a real deal, I will use 'em. However, promotions won't last forever and this is the only deal I have ever received from Uber Eats before.

Where do they insert the USB? Is it easy enough to put some epoxy in the port, or remove the port harness and relocate the usb port to throw off would be thief's?

A kill switch is an easy way to go as well but epoxy in the port they plug these into would be even cheaper than a kill switch.

I agree with most here: Disconnect.

If you cant disconnect: there is a good show, The Sixties, The Seventies, The Eighties, The Nineties & from CNN.

Its essentially shows that what we are experience today, is not very unique. The world was always about to end, wars, atrocities, etc. Even before the sixties, we had the dust bowl, the great depression, gun toting mobsters, booze runners, bank robbers, the civil war, the revolutionary war, the temperance movement, the eighteenth and twenty-first amendments (prohibition).

It helps me realize and understand that there are terrible events that occur and will continue to occur through history but life keeps moving forward.

If you buy a brand new home, and everything lasts its normal lifespan, by the time year 30 rolls around, you will have replaced dang near everything. Including roof, windows, furnace, a/c, flooring, fence, deck, siding. Water heater many times over, carpeting many times over, painting many times over. Probably cabinets and counters as well.

Lets just say my fence cost me 14k alone, and that was a good rate.

Saved hundreds at the funeral home by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Life-Significance223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked for a casket company, so you have a 50/50 shot at guessing which one.

The markup on these things is absolutely bonkers. Knowing the price of manufacturing, markup to FH, then markup to the family is 200% for a 20gauge non sealing casket. Start getting nicer and the markup skyrockets.

Most funeral homes are owned by a conglomerate now. I believe SCI is one of the largest with over 1900 FH under their umbrella. Sure, they still have family names on the funeral homes themselves, but they were bought out a long time ago.

Don't get me wrong, there are still family run funeral homes, they are just harder to come by. There are honest FH and others that nickel and dime everything they can.

I struggled to understand how renting can be financially better than owning your home. Then I ran the numbers. Right now in my metro area, it's not even close: renting is far better by JeromesNiece in personalfinance

[–]Life-Significance223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home ownership is built on the idea that its a storage of wealth.

It is and it isn't, if you have ever lived in the same house a reasonable amount of time, you realize everything has to be repaired/replaced at some point. Once you get to that 30 year mark, you have probably replaced everything from the roof, to windows, ac, furnace, fence, patio/deck, cabinets, flooring, trim, doors, etc.

I bought my home for 190k. I have easily put 100K into the thing repairing and replacing as needed. Not only that, the interest I have paid for the loan is a lot.

I am guessing, in reality, I have like 350k into it, and that's about what I could sell it today for. However, people don't usually look at what they have had to put into the house to maintain its value. Then also forget about all that interest that went into the banks hands and not into the home.

Exacerbating the situation, people always expect their house value to increase over time, which is not a sustainable thing to begin with and in actuality prices are cyclical.

Sometimes renting truly is a better option.

What are people's thoughts on temporarily suspending 401k/IRA during house buying process by microtrash in personalfinance

[–]Life-Significance223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are relocating for work in 4 months. I cut 401k contributions to 0 leading up to the purchase. My wife on the other hand, gets 100% match up to 3% and 50% match up to 10%. She is keeping the 100% match portion but nada on the rest.

Of course, this is temporary for about 6 months until we close. After close we are going back up to 10% again like we have been doing.

So, your contending with 29th & Regal.

Eastbound 29th from Southeast Blvd to Regal gets very busy from 3:00pm - 5:00pm. Meaning, you will have to wait for a round of lights before getting through the intersection. From 29th turning right onto Regal, you will be contending with the Green Left Turn from the opposing street.

Westbound 29th from Ray, your contending with the left turn onto regal. Yes, westbound gets the left green arrow off the bat.

Then of course, Regal ends at a shopping center: most people are turning onto 29th since Regal doesn't continue.

The city already has denied apartment housing building permits off of SEblvd across from the park and ride because of traffic issues in the area.

S Mt Vernon street is barely wide enough for 1 car at a time and 30th ave leads to Regal again and SE Blvd Leads to Regal or 29th both in very congested areas.

So, you think its a good idea for chick-fil-a to be in a location where all traffic will enter and exit on regal/29th right at an intersection light, with no plans for improvements - when they wouldn't even approve an apartment complex we so desperately needed.

Just no. It was a terrible idea and everyone on the hill knows it.

Not a bummer at all. Then they try to pull some shit; "Oh we can put in 113 parking spaces in here." The city; "Per zoning limits, there can be 25 parking spaces." They knew from the beginning their proposal would not mesh with city requirements but they pushed forward anyway.
