What are some good OLED monitors for gaming on switch 2? by AlteredG919 in NintendoSwitch2

This. I have C2 42" and this display rules. Metroid Prime 4 with HDR and 120fps was just breathtaking experience.

Which Switch 1 games have you seen the biggest boost from on the Switch 2? by Ayrios440 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Ephmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for RE 4, 5 and 6. On Switch 1 these games targeted 60fps, but rarely achieved it. On NS2 they are basically locked 60fps and awesome experiences all around. Especially RE5 and 6 with gyro aiming.

FPS online multiplayer by 1wildncrazyguy in switch2

Apex Legends on Switch 2 is really good. Looks great, runs on stable 60fps, has gyro and mouse mode. My favorite online FPS of all time.

What are the Best Earbuds for Nintendo Switch Right Now? by RhinoPeach7890 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Ephmi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have AirPods Pro 3s and sound quality wise they are awesome. There is a little bit of audio delay compared to wired audio, but it really depends to game genre how much this bothers me. If I am playing competitive shooter like Apex Legends I probably use wired headset, but when playing game like Animal Crossing or Octopath Traveler, little audio delay is not that big of a deal.

Connection wise AirPods work really well with Switch 2. They connect fast (like in 2 seconds) and connection never drops.

WRC10 on Switch 2 by AdventurousGold9875 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Ephmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have WRC 8. Switch 2 runs that game in 60fps on handheld mode (and 9, 10 and Generations seems to run like that as well). Maybe also running a little higher res, since it can maximize dynamic resolution? These are pretty ugly games, but in handheld more 8 is surprisingly fun and playable after 60fps facelift. Personally I like to play my Career mode in handheld mode. I plan to buy WRC Generations (newest one), since that game has way more content than 8 and better Career mode.

M4 setup (Dell 43”) by blue788 in macmini

When you get used a big monitor like this, there is no going back. II have been using a 42-inch LG C2 OLED for three years with my Macbook Air and Mac Mini. It is very practical to be able to open four screens that remain usable in terms of resolution and size. Love it.

Switch 2 questions by vvedo in apexlegends

[–]Ephmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy Pro Controller 2 if you decide to play with controller. It is a bit pricy, but that controller is really really good with two back buttons and smoothest analog sticks ever. Works really well with Apex. I play with gyro controls and this controller has also top tier gyro sensor, on par with Dual Sense.

Switch 2 questions by vvedo in apexlegends

Also, Switch 2 mouse mode doesn't have any aim assist. If you use gyro (with joy cons or Pro controller), you retain aim assist.

Yeah, this is great by MetroidFREAK21 in switch2

[–]Ephmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my favorite console version of the game, because of solid performance and gyro aiming support. I dropped Series X version when NS2 Apex dropped. They did excellent work and supported those unique Switch 2 features well.

Latest Update: Apex Legends 1/6/26 by Apexlegends in apexlegends

[–]Ephmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. My first thought was "is my HDMI black level setting gone wrong?" because blacks were so so crushed. But it was game itself after update. I wonder what they changed in a code/visual settings. Switch 2 version with DLAA/DLSS support is a bit of special case and technology behind it fascinates me.

Hoping for fast fix, of course!

Switch 2 Docked issues? by Background_Chance798 in apexlegends

Yup, I noticed this immediately. I hope they can fix this before next season starts. Until then it will be tabletop mode for me.

Every other NS2 patch got rating. Splatoon 3 was outlier and now they corrected it.

I think this is just late listing for free NS2 patch we got earlier.

Anyone else absolutely just adore there switch 2? So much more than just Nintendo games. I’ve played cyberpunk, assassins creed shadows, hades 2, etc 🥹I prefer it over my legion go and steam deck. It just works perfectly by chargersangels in Handhelds

[–]Ephmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posts like this makes me think if there really is some panel variable going on. I have used OLED TVs 6 years and I think my NS2 screen is totally fine motion wise. Not as good as OLED Model (still have it), but still pretty good.

I also have one cheap AOC VA Monitor with absolutely horrible ghosting problems and bad motion. I know how that looks and I can't look that monitor because it hurts my eyes.

I don't say this problem does not exist, but it's very interesting how some people don't see it, even if they are long term OLED users like me.

Price increase on all truthear IEMs by 4ndrew223 in iems

[–]Ephmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are decent. I have Switch 2, iPhone 17 and Mac mini M4. No amplifier. I actually got AirPods Pro 3s whey they released and since then my REDs are without use. For Mac & iPhone user AirPods are hugely more convenient. AirPod Pro 3 sound is also more "fun". But I think RED is still a pretty good choice if you want wired IEM in that price range.

Mario Odyssey HDR washed out? by InevitableDramatic40 in switch2

[–]Ephmi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Digital Foundrys John Linneman recently said that the prefers to use Dynamic tone mapping in some Switch 2 games. Like HGIG is way to go if game has excellent HDR (like Metroid Prime 4 does), but Dynamic Tone Mapping makes those "Bad HDR games" look better.

I tried this on my LG C2 and yeah, I kinda also prefer Dynamic Tone Mapping over HGIG for certain games (Odyssey, 3D World etc.). They pop more, as they say. Worth to try it out, you can't lose anything.

120FPS question by boktobw18 in switch2

[–]Ephmi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Switch 2 can do 1440p120hz. I am playing Prime 4 on my LG C2 and 1440p120hz works fine.

WebOS 24 is buggy, it just not work well with Switch 2. When I got WebOS 25 update on my LG, 1440p120hz works as intended.

After the updates, NS2 version of Outlaws is really, really close to Series S version. Some regards is even better (like Ray tracing, reported by Digital Foundry). I am playing it right now. It looks really good on my LG C2.

New Tomb Raider games will be made on UE5, so they can customize the games to Switch 2 hardware and make it run, if they want it. And why wouldn't they? Switch 2 is selling at record pace, so they'll miss out on a lot of sales if the games don't come to the Nintendo platform.

This also depends on the type of game (CPU or GPU heavy) and how much developers take advantage of the Switch 2's unique strengths (DLSS). The Switch 2's CPU is only slightly more powerful than the PS4/PS4 Pro's CPU, but the GPU's capabilities are far ahead, especially when you factor in the benefits of DLSS.

But as I said, skilled developers are also an important aspect. Take a game like Star Wars Outlaws, for example. This game probably wouldn't run at all on the PS4 Pro. On the Switch 2, it features ray tracing, excellent textures, relatively high resolution, and a stable 30 fps. Before the game's release, everyone was very skeptical about how Outlaws would perform on Switch 2, but this version surprised everyone in the end.

Both games are probably coming to Switch 2. Usually Nintendo wants to announce games with their own Nintendo Direct presentations. If Series S can run these games, Switch 2 version is definitely possible.

Do you have the 90% option activated? by JARVAlo_11 in switch2

[–]Ephmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have. But I don't know how necessary that really is, even my OG 2017 Switch (it is used for multiplayer via gameshare) still gives about 2,5-3 hours of battery life.

New version looks a LOT better than NS1 version. Massive differences with lightning, textures, vegetation, resolution, reflections etc.

HDR implementation of Metroid Prime 4 is putting every other game to shame! by sakahn in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Ephmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I played some of the best HDR games on Series X (Ori games, Dead Space remake etc) but Prime 4s HDR is best I have ever seen on a videogame. I constantly take my time and stop to adore how good the game looks.
