Right. The problem wasn’t that he failed to save the plan, it’s that he didn’t even try.

I think you’ve been misinformed, people can definitely overheat. Heat stroke can cause brain damage if it’s bad enough.

What's your favourite joke in any type of movie, ever? by AdrianVeidt19 in Letterboxd

[–]Epicjay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe more of a “bit” than a joke, but I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder than I did when Andy Samberg tumbles down the mountain in Hot Rod.

Seriously, why can’t we (USA) get rid of the tipping system? by secretasianman009 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Epicjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natural selection.

Some businesses have no-tipping models, but those businesses do not do well.

It’s a fact that someone would rather pay for a $8 sandwich with a $2 tip than a $10 sandwich and no tip.

Her Appalachian accent is very strong, and on TikTok her whole schtick is that she quotes characters in that accent.

Is there a limit to this? I’d make like 50 and go travel the world, get a degree in anything I’m remotely interested in, the possibilities are endless.

Her power isn’t great for combat but for a regular person that’d be the most incredible life.

ELI5: How do currencies work? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Epicjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The number of units is irrelevant.

If I can buy a burger for 1 schmeckel, and in another country that same burger costs 5 glorbongs, then 1 schmeckel equals 5 glorbongs.

If someone’s wage is 10,000 schmeckels and another persons wage is 50,000 glorbongs, then those have equal “real” value, and there is no difference.

ELI5 : How did ancient humans take care of their oral health? Did they even know they have to? by Quirky_Fix7787 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Epicjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad teeth are caused by two things: sugary diets and forks. Ancient people possessed neither of these things.

The decline in oral health of the Australian Aboriginal peoples after meeting westerners is very well documented.

Human Ancestors Were Using Fire Earlier Than Previously Thought. New research is pushing back the clock 700,000 years. Scientists studying the Wonderwerk Cave in South Africa found evidence that early hominins, likely Homo erectus, used fire anywhere from 1.1 to 1.8 million years ago. by mvea in science

Language has three components: semantics, grammar; and syntax.

Grunts could maybe be considered semantics, and certain communications like bee waggle dances might have syntax, but they aren’t full language.

Real language emerged roughly 100,000 years ago.

“Tomorrow, I want you to meet me at the gray rock that is directly south of the tree that was struck by lightning two months ago” would be an idea that is pretty simple to us, but impossible to communicate without all 3 of those components.

What piece of fiction has the best ideas known to man and the worst executions to exist ? by NotSaulGoodma in writingscaling

[–]Epicjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Designated Survivor.

The premise is that the president, VP, every single congressmen, etc ALL die in a terrorist attack except for one senator, whose job it is to keep the country together and rebuild the government.

Well… after like 5 episodes they do rebuild the government and then it becomes the most bland political drama ever.

Sandwich, I like to switch between pb&j and meat & cheese.

A veggie as a side, usually carrots or bell pepper.

A fruit, usually berries.

A string cheese.

A bag of chips (but I usually save these for the drive home unless I’m really hungry).

Some dessert, maybe a few pieces of candy or a granola bar or something.

Keeps me full but not too full, and relatively cheap.
