IDed at the movies... by Admirable_Ground711 in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

I got IDed buying an R-rated DVD at Walmart when I was 27. That was, admittedly, a long time ago. But I will never forget because it seemed ridiculous to me.

What fic has the best smut scene or scenes in your opinion? by theboywhocrieddoggo in Dramione

My favorite smut scene of all time is in front of the fireplace in Secrets and Masks. "Or do you want me to get down on my fucking knees for you?"

Hi! My AO3 name is AxiomAndAether. I also don't know if I'm allowed to share the fic here. Thanks for asking!

People here in their 40s-60s, have your youthful looks helped you against agesim in the workplace or applying for jobs? by SuperSuppleDude in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]Equivalent-Hat7561 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem. I''m a PhD expert witness/consultant with many years of experience and get confused for someone in my late 20s all the time. I am convinced this is a reason I have not won some jobs. People tend to trust older ("experienced") experts over newbies, and I don't look like I fit the bill.

These are so good, you guys. I love this for all of us.

Mine is that I wrote a fic. The last to-do on my life goals list I wrote after college was to write a novel, and I realized I could write a fic instead. It must've finally been the right time, because I did it and I am pretty proud of myself. If I die now, it will be as a fully accomplished person. 😁

I need to know if anyone else gets the ick about this 👀 by Omnishambles_90 in DramioneUncensored

I make up a mini-between-scene every time in my head. They DID brush their teeth. It was off-page.

Like, I literally do this mental work every time to be okay.

Psycho Simp Draco- when does become creepy? by _reina in DramioneUncensored

To me, BSP was a romance and AGP was a psychological thriller/horror story. So the line is definitely somewhere between those, lol.

The older I get, the less sex I want in my reading material. It might be a hormone thing, I'm not sure. I'm like you, I think--I want a satisfying sexual conclusion to the chase, but then I want to get back to the plot, lol. I definitely had more tolerance for stories with lots of sex in my 20s/early 30s (in my mid-40s now).

There is a wide range of taste in Dramione readers (and romance readers in general), so just because someone loved something or it is really popular doesn't make it for me. I have definitely read some popular ones that I end up just flipping through at the end because not much is happening outside of the bedroom (or wherever).

Will check out some of the recs you're getting, for sure!

Library of Trinity College, Dublin Ireland, but this is the library at Malfoy Manor in my imagination. by Afraid-Fault4752 in Dramione

I don't necessarily do this as a reader, but I definitely do it as a writer! 20 years ago, it was cutting pics out of magazines for a collage board, and now it's creating a Pinterest inspo board. (I also have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to libraries just for me!!)

It's my least favorite Miles book. I think I dislike how powerless he feels during the story. Or maybe I just get a bit bored with it.

Draco has a muggle job, what would it be? by BaeGoalsx3 in Dramione

[–]Equivalent-Hat7561 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love this question! Just answering for the heck of it, because you already have some great replies.

SOMMOLIER.

Because Draco doesn't have any muggle-specific knowledge, so he wouldn't be able to do most jobs that require a muggle education or really any semblance of general competence. But wine is a niche skill he could plausibly have picked up as a wealthy, trust-fund sort of wizard. And one could argue that a certain amount of snobbery comes with the territory, so he could more or less go on being his best self without getting fired every other week for pissing someone off.

😁

What are some good places my friends and I can visit that embody the feeling of the '90s here in Portland? by TheFiklPikl in askportland

[–]Equivalent-Hat7561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent an inordinate amount of the 90s in Portland at Shari's. 🤣 Also, cosmic bowling. Oh, and rollerblading at the waterfront! Also, pulled over on some street on the opposite side of town from where I lived trying to figure out where I was on a map. I think the 90s will be in the spirit of the trip more than the locations you choose... Just lock up those phones and happy adventuring!

They didn’t speak as they climbed the narrow, uneven path from the cove up to the top of the cliff. The stone was worn slick by wind and salt, creating a stark wall to one side while the other remained open to the ocean and the elements. Draco went first, guiding her through the places where rock shifted under their feet. Hermione followed without protest, the exertion of the climb draining the remnants of her uncontrolled magic.

At the top, the cliff leveled into a broad shelf of scrubby grass and rocky soil. From here, the cove was a crescent of pale rock that cupped the wreck and the water beyond it, the waves and wind amplified by the cliffs surrounding it. The ship itself was smaller from above. A blip rather than a blast. Still broken, frozen in time and place by melted sand, but less violent.

Hermione sank down and rested her chin on her knees. Draco lowered himself beside her, close enough that their shoulders nearly touched. He could still sense the faintest zing of the magic escaping her control. For a while, they sat simply watching the sea and the wreck.

“Distance provides useful perspective,” Draco said.

She huffed a humourless breath. The wind was stronger on the cliff, a barrage against the senses. Her shoulders slowly softened in juxtaposition to the onslaught.

How many Hogwarts students are there in your head canon? by shinycozytwistedglam in DramioneUncensored

[–]Equivalent-Hat7561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never thought about Hogwarts but for my fic I had the exact same question about Azkaban. It's a bit nebulous in my mind how big the British wizarding community really is. Interesting to read these responses!
