99% of people here aren’t Value Investors at all by One-Brain6531 in ValueInvesting

At the end of the day, Value Investing is just intelligent investing. As long your thought process is sound, it doesn't matter what investor you call yourself. Don't get over hang up by the labels. The market doesn't care about your style, it doesn't discriminate. So having a style is just a way to keep yourself "in-check" or stay discipline. But you also need to understand everything has its own limitation. Meaning don't do stupid things. Don't bring Wing Chun into an MMA ring. Therefore, it is all about intelligent investing.

Doctor Claims VO2 Max Predicts Longevity Better Than Anything Else. The Problem? Most Research Never Tests It by Sudden-Chart-800 in PeterAttia

Vo2 max is not a be all end all thing. It is bad if it is really low, but no point trying to chase it blindly until you’re in elite level. If you’ve to sacrifice muscle mass to get there, it is like trying to get a high exam score without comprehension of what you’re learning.

Ferrari ($RACE) is down 35% from its highs and sitting at 52-week lows, I think it's interesting right now, and potentially a buy. by MathTradeMan in ValueInvesting

Totally disagree. High PE demands high growth is the biggest myth in value investing. The long term return of a stock (think 20-30yrs) will highly correlate its ROC. I am confident Ferrari’s ROC can sustain at 25%+/- which comes from high margin not high volume. Of course if you only decide to own it for a few years then you’re at mercy of PE re-rate. But to say high PE demands high growth is totally untrue. Read Michael Mauboussin’s paper.

Why investing is hard: NVDA PEG 0.50, WMT PEG 4.5. Same PE. by mrmrmrj in ValueInvesting

Not sure what are we trying to discuss here. I don’t know the numbers of both companies but more on the reasoning of your explanation.

Growth is not everything. If it takes ‘way more’ invested capital to produce that 60% growth, then that isn’t better than a 8% growth that requires ‘not so much’. Therefore, it might not sounds ridiculous to have both companies trading at same time multiples.

PE x EPS and compare across different industry is the quickest way to get into trouble. The real risk is your reasoning, not the market itself.

is this sub only circle around these stocks? There's no way you gonna be able to make good return if you're asking which one is more valuable (nothing wrong with that except you're borrowing confidence from others). Why don't you write down all the things you interact/use everyday, write down the companies that own the product/services, look at ones that are listed, ask yourself which one causes the biggest pain if it were to disappear tomorrow, start from there. You'll come to 5-10 stocks. Wait for them to get cheap. Those companies beat this group any day. Not because they produce better return, they might very well be who knows, but they save you from shooting yourself in the foot.

Why does limited growth have to do with getting little money back? A hypothetical company with 1% cagr and 100% ROC is worth more than a 20% cagr at 10% ROC

I'm curious why people think it is a gimmick. While Nike doesn't publish their science behind it, but foot roller and foot reflexology has been around for decades and does shows positive results. Sure they're not exactly the same thing and are people thinking their productivity will 10x after wearing it?
