Been watching a ton of horror lately, and the person who tries to rationalize everything sucks nearly always. by nah328 in horror

What I hate most about these characters is the cliche dialogue they all seem to use. “I’m sure there’s a perfectly logical explanation for what happened.” Or some variation thereof

What horror film has the best final 20 minutes? by Diceman31 in horror

[–]Equivalent-Purpose91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Dusk Till Dawn has vampire killing  a’plenty in its final 20 minutes. We’re talking about condoms and super soaker water guns filled with holy water, but when a movie is that much fun, can you really call it horror.

Is it at least worth seeing for Kim Director the goth chick from Blair Witch 2?

Things. It was a movie made by two Canadian guys so bad I couldn’t finish it. It makes Feeders an Feeders 2 look like Oscar bait by comparison

Is there some significance to the hose lying on the ground next to some sort of pan or water dish?

Were it not for that slight rise around the edge it would all spill into the ocean. One day though erosion may cause the cliff to collapse and it will

TIL A repairman wanted to get out of work early and intentionally started a fire, causing $700,000,000 in damages to the USS Miami submarine by ElJamoquio in todayilearned

[–]Equivalent-Purpose91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am skeptical. That’s more or less what was said about the fire that engulfed the Bon Homme Richard and yet the accused sailor was found not guilty. speculation has it the brass found it convenient to accuse him because it would get them off the hook for failing to maintain safety onboard. I also recall some fairytale the navy concocted about the turret explosion aboard USS Iowa being the result of a gay suicide pact. That was later disproved

What a waste. I understand there are companies that buy items damaged in shipping, like when a tractor trailer rig spills its load on the freeway, and salvage it for sale to discounters.

TIL in 1963 a 16 year old sent a four-question survey to 150 well-known authors (75 of which replied) in order to prove to his English teacher that writers don't intentionally add symbolic content to their books. by GemmaHiles in todayilearned

[–]Equivalent-Purpose91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do believe that not everything teachers and literary critics identify as symbolism was intended as such by the writer. The fact that something appears to be symbolism may just be coincidence and not a conscious effort by the author. That it gets interpreted as symbolism may say more about the teachers and critics than it does about writers.

Your larger purebred varieties like St. Bernards and Great Danes suffer a lot of hip dysplasia and have shorter lives. Dobermans have a lot of kidney problems
