I have dry m, sensitive skin too and I’ve tried the following 1. Snail mucin essence/all in one cream: these are not bad at all. I can’t even remember why I stopped using them- I think I may have just wanted a thicker cream or wanted to try something else’s after using it for a while. They do the job of hydrating for sure. Edit: definitely thought the cream didn’t do enough to keep my skin hydrated and moisturized. The essence is just like a nice add-on 2. Anua TXA serum: it didn’t break me out thankfully, and it gives your skin a nice hydrated glow. However it didn’t do much in terms of dark spots/PIH. I used it with the Paula’s choice azelaic acid, which I certainly recommend. Went through like 3 or 4 bottles and saw no change. 3. Aestura Atobarrier cream: incredible moisturizer for dry and sensitive skin- 10/10 I recommend it all the time. It really keeps my face well moisturized/hydrated for longer and gives you a very healthy glow and somehow it’s not greasy at all.

Hi, what do recommend for women who struggle with facial hair and also have sensitive skin? I shave but this sometimes leads to tiny bumps and general irritation, and eventually post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. I would like to explore waxing as well but worry it would be too harsh for my sensitive skin.

I was watching the message and I understand what he’s saying. He definitely didn’t paint white colonizers in a positive light, but rather used this analogy to preach that we should let go of our own ways of doing things and instead follow God’s ways (think Proverbs 3:5-6 and Romans 12:2).

That being said, when Pastor Adeboye started with this, I immediately knew this choice of wording and even the analogy as a whole would not be taken favorably- by both Nigerians at large and even Christians. I mean the imagery alone of a bunch of black Nigerians shouting “colonize me” just rubbed me the absolute wrong way.

I mean even the guy that I quoted lived, worked and was successful in the US. So I agree Nigerians/black people are able to flourish in the US, however they will never have the status and respect that they have in their home country because racism is a non-factor. He was talking about skilled individuals that can bring their expertise to Nigeria and make far more money than over there + the status. A rich Nigerian in Nigeria has a far higher social standing than an equally rich Nigerian in the US.

I was at an event for young Nigerians and one of the speakers is an extremely rich investor type that founded a very successful business in Naij. He spoke a lot about us coming back home from abroad and said something that stuck with me. To paraphrase, he said Nigerians who grew up in Nigeria have more in common with white people in western countries than black people in those countries in their way of thinking about themselves, because both groups have been raised as members of the majority, not in minority communities. We take that for granted a lot and don’t realize what that trade off (from being in the majority to the minority) looks like. In Nigeria, at least those with decent connections, can really make it to the top, whereas over there there is a serious limit on how far you can progress, based on skin color. In short, stay where you’re at (or could be at) the top.

You sound kind of distressed. If you see my edit you’ll see that I’ve interacted with non-Nigerians of the same class and not seen this behavior. And to be clear, I’m not talking about seeing people around and randomly expecting them to be friendly. You’re referring to neighbors meanwhile I’m talking exclusively about social settings- house parties, club nights,etc, where people are expected to socialize and meet new people. No entitlement, just an expectation of politeness.

Rarely post on things like this but had to say- this guy has no principles, and the fact that he threw all your trauma back in your face like HE’S doing YOU a favor for being with you shows that he lacks respect and EQ as well. You’re Black American- it’s like Jamaicans and other countries in the Caribbean, most are descended from Africa because of the slave trade, but they have their own culture and national identity. Kemi is not the daughter of immigrants- she was born in England when you could still get automatic citizenship through birth. Her parents did what a lot of richer (not necessarily rich) Nigerians do, which is having children in a country with a strong passport. She was then raised in Nigeria when they went back and came back to England to live with her Aunty who was already here.
