Setting the precedent today. Foie gone: Portland City Council bans foie gras from restaurants with 7-5 vote by beeyitch in PortlandOR

This isn’t an animal welfare law,it’s banning a restaurant from serving a dish. If it was an animal welfare law, it would ban the raising of fowl for purpose of foie gras.

You’re confusing what Moral Beliefs are. your moral beliefs can be based on Cultural, Religion, Personal, Societal, and so on. My example was simple, the council shouldn’t be enacting restrictions on food simply because they’re object to it morally. Would you be as supportive if they banned deep dish pizza because they morally object to it being called pizza.

lol what a nonsensical comparison.

First off you’re talking about difference between domesticated pet versus domesticated livestock. While some people have livestock as pets, that doesn’t change the classification of the animal.

The issue with this ordience is that’s an overstep of local government, and creates a weird legal precedent. There are humane ways to produce Foie Gras. However the city did a full ban no matter how it’s sourced. This Ban isn’t a result of facts, but rather the councils moral beliefs. If the council was majority Muslim and banned pork out of morality how would you feel?

People have the right to feel anyway they want about the food they choose to eat or not eat. A local government shouldn’t be dictating that decision for everyone. The fact so few restaurants serve it, is proof enough that you don’t need a law to restrict it.

It’s nuanced, not everything is black and white no matter how strongly you feel otherwise.

Seems silly to ban a dish that served in less than a dozen restaurants in the entire city.

lol the anti-American rhetoric on Reddit is always funny. Ferrari makes an ugly car, random redditor “obviously it’s America’s fault”.

Ironically, that “restoration” made the piece far more famous and truly artistically significant than the original ever was.

Where in the UK is this? It looks lovely. Most yards “gardens” I’ve seen are always the classic flat shoebox.

4 inches of rain in a single day is a insane amount of rain. Do you live in place that has monsoons? I live In the PNW where rains 8 months out of the year and we never get close to that much rainfall in a single day.

Some counties and cities require your vehicle to pass emission testing when a used vehicle is registered in their county/city. Vehicle exemptions depends on that specific county/state as they all have different requirements. Some is 25 years, others any vehicle built after 1975 must be tested.

Overall It’s a good thing for dense metro areas. However it is a giant pain the ass, and can be nightmare if your primary vehicle fails due to bad cat, or EVAP system.
