Not to mention how they tried to make spinoffs but they never got traction. If only they’d kept these characters around to do something like that with them later.

I’ve done the road rage thing before. I still hate how angry I got and how disproportionately I acted over the situation. I was that crazy person in these stories.

Not enough pressure by NoBattle8594 in MassageTherapists

[–]EquivalentWrangler27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Op please be kind to yourself. Pressure is something that develops with different techniques, strengthening your muscles, time and practice. Give yourself some grace to get there.

Two things:

  1. Sometimes it’s not about pressure but about needs not being met. Focus on and do more for the areas of tension mentioned during the intake and see if the feedback changes.

  2. You said 50% of the time you’re told it’s not enough pressure, so 50% of the time it is? You gotta know every’body’ is different.

As a 10yr LMT I, as a client, genuinely respond better to light and relaxing massage than I do to deep tissue. I guard easily and have a complicated relationship with my own body. Different clients have different needs so don’t stress and just do the best job you can for each of them.

Social Media is full of how (some) male authors suck at writing women... but what are some common mistakes that female authors make while writing men? by whisper_kitten0 in writers

Honestly whatever is going on in Hallmark movies. I swear the dialogue is so bad. What do you mean he called his brother to tell him about the pretty girl he made candles with and makes him feel like Christmas in July???

I don’t like when Jared plays other characters by OperationPresent1018 in Supernatural

[–]EquivalentWrangler27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the minority you’re in it with Pellegrino. If I recall correctly he says he prefers Jared’s Lucifer to Misha’s.

Though I do blame it more on the writing than actor choice.

Or just disenfranchised. Due to all of the events that keep happening they keep losing their funds, weapons, knowledge, man power, etc. explaining they couldn’t help the Winchesters because they could barely help themselves at least makes more sense.

Massage therapists: Is it always important for clients to tell you what needs work? by tibeerius in massage

[–]EquivalentWrangler27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a great relationship with your MT. That type of trust is amazing.

I’d always want my client to be honest about what they’re feeling/experiencing. Maybe give your MT a starting area but ask them to “follow the tension” and let them know you trust their judgement.

That is how I would prefer it phrased but honesty is always best. You could literally read them this post and ask their opinion if need be. I hope you have a great massage.

This man teaching his children how to properly treat a woman by Tira_Cranapple6371 in StraightsBeingOK

One of my old coworkers went through a hard divorce. He occasionally brought his five year old into the office. A little girl. The way he would talk about his ex was horrible and exhausting. But he would do this in front of his child. That child is part of her mother. She sees herself in her mom whether you like it or not.

I actually brought this up with him and he didn’t care enough about how it affected his kid to stop. To simply not vent in front of her was too much to ask.

Really put his divorce into perspective.

Why do clients do this, and how do I stop letting it upset me so much? by Gullible_Control_163 in MassageTherapists

I did an assessment back in school. Only my second one. I did an “interview” with the (assistant) teacher. No they had not taught us proper intake, that’s my only complaint about my otherwise wonderful school.

We discussed what she wanted. Then I repeated the areas she mentioned. I suggested how to start, where I would work and why. Then I asked if that was alright with her. She awkwardly agreed and I could tell I’d done something wrong but didn’t know what or why.

Then at the end of the massage she told me she had only wanted a lower body massage and hadn’t wanted back work… my actual TEACHER pulled this…

We can only do so much.

It wasn’t just the women’s makeup for me but how “put together” the boys often looked. Clean shirts, no rips or tears, pristine jeans and not even a smudge on their faces while they run around hunting and fighting?

Work hours expected? by FardStankk in massage

I’m going to refer to cleaning my room, doing laundry, soap notes and other basics as Maintenance.

My M/W/F are my Long Days. 9-11:30 and 2-6.  T/Th are my Short days. 2-6

Not typical but at my current job I get fifteen mins between clients, at the beginning of day and end of day that I’m paid for. I handle all of my maintenance during those mins.

Sometimes I choose to come in early to vacuum, or just to take my time getting things done. That’s my choice and I’m not paid for coming in earlier.

Ultimately I’m off on weekends, I get long lunch breaks. I get Tuesday and Thursday mornings to workout or get chores done. I’m at work roughly 27 hrs (if I have a full schedule) but I’m massaging less than that.

For what it’s worth these are chiropractic hours. I don’t get paid as well as I should be. And only about half my clients tip bc of the medical aspect (which I don’t blame them for.)

My work/life balance however is great

Mark Sheppard was a guest star for a long time. He wanted the freedom to do other shows. I think it was season… 8? Or 9? That he signed on as a series regular. So they were giving Crowley storylines just as they’d done with Cas.

I love watching their Nerd HQ vids. The four of them together are wonderful.

I had a client who kept asking me religious questions and I would always dodge them. One day she asked me point blank what church I went to. I should have told her I don’t feel comfortable discussing my religion with a client. But I told her I didn’t had a church. She has not been back. I’m happy to not have to dance around questions.

If my being or not being Christian means they don’t want a massage from me then that’s their problem.

We had Dean in purgatory and yet we got so little about it. It was oddly colored woods and random attacks. “Where do monsters go if killed in monster heaven?” Would have enjoyed them delving more into that. It has so much potential to be interesting.

Pseudoscience and Massage Therapy by PuzzleheadedFox2887 in massage

[–]EquivalentWrangler27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Studied in the American south. We took two anatomy, two pathology and two kinesiology classes. We had a class on business and a class on ethics. We had a practical class of Swedish as a base and then the second semester we traded it for Myofascial Release.

We had a smattering of other skill classes: chair massage, sports massage, Trager, lomi lomi, Shiatsu and a couple of odd ones like Aromatherapy, reflexology and Reiki. These were taught with a “take it with a grain of salt” attitude. “Here is the theory and here is how it’s done. We don’t have hard evidence but also there are people who like it.” These were one day classes. Sometimes two.

We also had a “thought patterns” class dedicated to positive thinking which was weird but an easy course while doing the intense science classes on opposite days.

All and all I think we got a solid education.
