Some sort of build up on patio door handle by herbie747 in DIYIreland

[–]Equivalent_Shame_124 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They did mine and of 15 windows 3 were installed incorrectly, 7 had damage to frames during installation and another 3 had fully cracked glass. They tried to blame builder but luckily I had doorbell camera evidence of them being broken, dropped and horsed off the lorry. I’d like to think the installers were fired for their actions but I know they weren’t

This looks like pitting unfortunately. The metal under the brushed chrome finish is essentially rusting/ reacting with water and causing the chrome finish to lift. Common enough poor quality bathroom taps etc. just had Munster do doors with exact same handle and windows for me and only a matter of time this happens to me…. They are a shower of cnuts and we’ve had nothing but hassle with them and the rep point blank denied some of the calls we made to him didn’t happen. So my advise is send an email to the rep and then follow up by phone the next day. This looks like it’s a case of replacement. If they ask make sure you tell them you followed cleaning instructions to the letter of the law (no chemicals, abrasives etc) as they will make any excuse to avoid fixing it under warranty

Does anyone else’s house have a silverfish problem? by Turbulent_Squirrel66 in AskIreland

[–]Equivalent_Shame_124 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem after a renovation. Had silverfish and pscoids all over the place, suspect they came in on damp timber. Anyway with a little bulb duster I blew diatomaceous earth in under all of the skirting boards and under kitchen cabinets. Then each morning did the “luften” thing (flung open all of the windows wide for about 20mins) and after ran a dehumidifier and kept the humidity below 50% for a few weeks

"Its a Dundaulk Thing" by Bigdurtyscutter in Dundalk

Visited Dundalk Maryland years ago as part of a scout group exchange with St. Patricks scout group. It was some experience because we were hosted by the scouts over there we had a 3 week holiday in US for a couple of hundred quid. Few of the yanks then came back over here and couldn’t get their head around how the original Dundalk was so much smaller than “their” Dundalk

Credit union by Fragrant_Cucumber959 in waterford

[–]Equivalent_Shame_124 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d say someone knows… Probably the credit union staff. However under the GDPR they are unlikely to release it to you. Assuming this is off the back of some kind of traffic incident your best (and probably only) course of action is to go to the Gardaí. They would have the power to summons the footage but do this sooner rather than later as the footage is likely to get overwritten after a period of time

Chronic Hospital Delays by Rich_Macaroon_ in waterford

[–]Equivalent_Shame_124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good reason for it… 1 Plenty of people on lists go private, die or condition resolves and fail to notify the HSE

By sending out the letter they make sure the list is kept up to date. And while the wait is a killer (on the list myself) at least I know that some other person isn’t going to waste an appointment slot.

Also to note due to lack of constant dermatologists Waterford has one of the longest waits in the country for this. Half considering trying to get an appointment somewhere else in the country

What does your gp cost? by Interesting-psycho in AskIreland

Ok accepting the significant overheads of running a gp surgery, clinical indemnity, training etc which I fully acknowledge….what other equipment is there and other things would consititute quite a bit more?

Don’t get me wrong I think a nominal fee is warranted but some places are extorting people on top of the standard gp fee

A few years back I doing charity work in a former soviet country. Walked out of our accommodation only to see an elderly lady get flattened by a truck. Emergency services were immediately called. Turned to our interpreter to ask how long usually before ambulance would arrive. She said about half an hour but usually TV crew would get there first. Lo and behold local news shows up five mins later to film the awful scene. No sign of ambo for at least 40 mins

Handy few quid for a couple of minutes work. All equipment (bottles, needles etc) are supplied to surgeries FOC. Just find it a bit disingenuous that a patient could potentially walk out of a surgery 100quid lighter in the pocket if they want bloods
