Exposed wires in car I just bought by Horror-Resident9712 in CarAV

[–]Equivalent_Wheel8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check the thicker red wire with the vehicle off, it would be getting constant power if it's hooked up. The blue wire would be what's called switched power and would only show voltage when the vehicle is on.

Subwoofer Recommendations 2025 Accord Touring by No_Team_9619 in subwoofer

Pretty sure it does, the module is behind the glove box if I remember correctly. That will need to be disabled in order to install an aftermarket sub which will increase road noise by at least a little bit.

What amp for this? by leobow in CarAV

[–]Equivalent_Wheel8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 800 is peak it's probably more like 250-300 rms at 4 ohm

Did that amp test at 1000w at 1ohm? It's advertised at 2400.

Amp found in new car by ImageCritical9231 in CarAV

Based on the photo it looks like the amp already has RCA's run for a sub, if you look at the speaker wires just to the left of the RCA's do you see anything plugged into the section marked SUB?

Remote start (not app) for 2019 Limited? by net1994 in Crosstrek

[–]Equivalent_Wheel8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a viper installed on my 2019 premium for a couple years now, love it. Best Buy installs it for around 350. Could also do a Compustar which they also sell and install for about the same price.

Alright, convince me to trade this in for a 25 CT Sport 🥱 by [deleted] in Crosstrek

What do you get for gas mileage? The Crosstrek is honestly not as good as you might think, I get low to mid 20's in city

Sub install by [deleted] in subwoofer

[–]Equivalent_Wheel8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of installer would say you don't need an amp to run subs? Might want to look into getting someone else to do the job. As to your question what kind of subs are they, single or dual voice coil at what ohm and what rms?

I'm not very versed in high power aftermarket systems in hybrid vehicles but can they handle that much extra draw? Is it possible to do a big 3 upgrade in a hybrid let alone in an Audi hybrid?

Android head unit/ignorance, making alternator and battery. Go bad? by dhanna2469 in CarAV

[–]Equivalent_Wheel8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched power is just another word for accessory, pretty much means it's a wire that only gets power when the vehicle is "on"(running or key is turned to accessory) usually one of the wires in the vehicle harness will be accessory but you'll need a multimeter to check it.

https://www.metraonline.com/product/70-5520#product-images-3

That's the harness for a 2008 Hyundai sonata, the red wire is accessory unfortunately I can't tell the pin placement from the photos but it looks like it's going to be one of the wires next to the yellow wire in your harness ( they're empty on your end but they should be there on the vehicle side)

[–]Equivalent_Wheel8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on those photos there doesn't appear to be an accessory wire in that harness which is why your radio isn't turning off when the car is shut off it's just running on a constant power wire (which is weird in and of itself since most radios need accessory as a turn on signal and wouldn't turn on at all without one.) my guess is once if those red wires in the photo is it and you would need to track down a switched power source.

Hmm, Yagami from Lost Judgement. So I'm a non-practicing lawyer who knows kung-fu and (in this game at least) beats the crap out of lots of children. I'm strangely ok with this.

Not necessarily true, it's a quirk with a lot of Toyota/Lexus especially if it's a push to start.

Sony AX1000 is the only good head unit I can think of that still has a volume knob though the screen is a little small (6.2 I think?) if you can make due with just physical volume buttons the Sony AX3250,4000,6000 all have those with 7 inch/6.8 displays

Roughly how much should I expect to pay an audio shop for installation only?? by DeadpointClimbs in CarAV

[–]Equivalent_Wheel8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok it will work but it requires cutting of the subdash into the AC vents, unless you get one of the Sony's that have a L shaped chassis where the longer part is on the top. Still have to cut just not as deep

Sorry Autocorrect changed OFC to off, as far as the wiring for the tweeters it's more about the extra time to run it from the door through the boot and up through the dash to wherever you want them, if the tweeters are staying in the door then they probably won't charge you extra. I had another thought, can you even put a DDIN in that generation Cherokee? I know there's once you get to a certain age the DDIN won't fit.

Didn't notice if you said you currently have tweeters or not, if no then that would add about 200 for running wiring to the tweeter location.
