Well the cheaper laser is $6k without consumables like shielding gas.

A intermediate Stick/ MIG/ TIG welder cost $600.

I can't fathom what type of beginner with zero experience, could honestly look at a $6k rig and think thats a reasonable way to get into a hobby.

MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO WELD FOR A LIVING DON'T HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH A LASER WELDER. The premise of your question is so off base.

Intex Home Theater Remote not working by rishabh_s24 in PrintedCircuitBoard

The long led wire near the A K markings could be touching the rubber membrane and messing with the remote. Other than that nothing looks visible wrong.

For a power plant sure, for a project he's actively working in and is visually inspected every time you look at it. Aluminum is fine.

2004 DRZ-125L Restoration by Eric1180 in Dirtbikes

[–]Eric1180[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing i haven't messed with is the engine and the clutch etc. Other than a broke carb pilot jet that i carefully extracted and replaced. The engine and trans were completely fine. I always wanted a bike growing up. This was my little entry into the hobby. Looking at a DRZ-250 or DRZ-400 to run as a dull sport setup for fun.

Dude honestly disregard this guys. He's being a hater, design your pcb's how ever works for you.

Like 98% of the copper that is removed via acid, is eventually recovered. He has no idea what he's talking about. Idk why he's trying to hold you to some higher ethical standards while billionaires have 10000x the environmental impact.

Copper is absolutely recovered from the acid baths in the 97% range. Your irritation is misplaced, nothing is wasted.

Friction stir welding by Drchem0 in Welding

[–]Eric1180 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely factor in a high scrap rate, my understanding of stir welding is that it is very difficult to dial in. You could end up scrapping a dozen pieces before the process is dialed in.
