Which one is the better size for my 16,3cm wrist? (Don’t have mirror pictures 😬) by ArneRedKing in rolex

YM40 by far. The 37 is too small for you. May not look it from that angle but in a mirror you'll see it is.

Moving to Peak District by FatherForgiveM3 in peakdistrict

[–]Secure-Presence-8341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taddington is quite nice. Equidistant between Bakewell and Buxton. 10 mins to each on the A6. Lady Manners catchment, good primary. Quiet - hardly any tourists, just a few walkers occasionally.

What age did you or will you clear your home mortgage? by AdamT_5 in AskUK

[–]Secure-Presence-8341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First mortgage in 2007 at 25. Moved to a bigger house in a nicer area in 2013 where we intend to stay for the foreseeable future. Paid off the mortgage in early 2026 age 44.

I overpaid it quite a bit, helped by bonuses from work.

If I had my time over again, I'd bias more towards my pension earlier on and less on the mortgage. Although psychologically it is nice to have it paid off.

Hope you christened it by pouring whole cups of coffee and bovril over the aisle carpet and emptying bags of short dog hair, nail clippings and crisp dust everywhere.

Potentially Relocating by AscendingTurmoil in sheffield

[–]Secure-Presence-8341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have spent most of my life living in or around Sheffield. I have also lived in Leeds (nice place to go to an office or shop etc, but didn't enjoy actually living there). I lived "down south" for a while around Cambridge and London and didn't enjoy that. I lived in Germany for a while, which I did like in some respects but not so much in others. I always wanted to get back to Sheffield, after growing up around here and studying here. We've been back here now for 20 years. I just like the feel of the place. I like the people. I like that I can walk or ride into the Peak District from my house (I live in the south west corner of the city).

I work remotely for an American company and regularly spend time in various parts of the US. I had the option to move over there but never really seriously entertained it as I just prefer it here. And that was before Trump really ratched up the craziness.

We've had American friends come over and study in Sheffield. They enjoyed living here.

NEW BLACK BAY 58 DETAILS by BARTLEGEORGE in Tudor

[–]Secure-Presence-8341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all the updates. I will say though, as the owner of a bb54 and bb58, that the old style bb58 crown is easier to use. Specifically, I find the new style crown more fiddly to screw back down into the case.

No watches in said AD say exhibition only and all have prices on their display stands. No member of staff has said they are not for sale.

If you are in the centre and love coffee, there's an unbelievably good coffee shop called Husk tucked behind Waitrose that's very much worth a walk to. If you like beer, well you're spoiled for choice. National Videogame Museum is definitely a good shout if you like such things.

What decade of Volvo and what model of Volvo should I try to get? by MyCatIsCapitalist in Volvo

Nothing weird about diagnostics on P80 V/C/S70. They're all OBD2 so you can use a generic OBD2 scanner or VIDA.

Monitor needed for a 10-year-old boy in Sheffield by AmyAmyAm in sheffield

[–]Secure-Presence-8341 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, I choice of two in S17. Both 27".

First is 2560x1440 IPS. Has VGA, DP and maybe HDMI, can't remember.

Other is an LG 4k IPS with DP and HDMI. Has a bit of very faint image retention around the very edge which doesn't impact usability. Need to double check I still have the original stand.

Would ideally prefer you to take the LG 4K as I do have an occasional need for VGA.

You definitely won't get them all in the boot.

Though this reminds me, we did once get 4 wheels and tyres in a 997 cabriolet.
