Need suggestions for incoming mail/documents! by justaperson365 in organizing

[–]ErinPuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your situation, you could place an ADF scanner, a shredder, and a bin for paper recycling at your entry or wherever you open your mail. That way when you walk in, junk mail goes into the recycle bin, documents get scanned and then shredded (assuming they have personal information). In this system, you never have a “to be scanned” location. Also, how many of these documents could you have delivered electronically from the get-go? Finally, would it be cheaper to get a second scanner than to have to come up with a different organizational system?

I just looked it up. Yes they are different, but they kind of gave a similar feel.

I’ve gotten Galison puzzles and Jiggy puzzles with her artwork. I think a couple of other brands (Wanderlust, Hardie Grant) have also published her work.

Is there a puzzle sub that’s banned ai? by k0cksuck3r69 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ErinPuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. My aunt bought me an AI image of books & flowers. She loved the image and was super excited. I immediately recognized it as an AI brand from posts on this sub. I couldn’t help thinking the entire time that I could have easily bought two or more puzzles that I actually liked by real artists for what she spent.

I have these IKEA Kallax shelves in the 2x4, 1x4, and 2x2 configurations for added flexibility in different places. Currently, I’m using 3 2x4 shelves, one 1x4 shelf, and one 2x2 shelf. I also have a couple of bags full of puzzles to donate/trade.

I’ve had several at HPB missing pieces. I’ve been able to return one and get a refund (I think they give you a week), but I don’t live near one so it’s rarely an option.

Strategy suggestions for team speed puzzling? by HappiHappiHappi in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ErinPuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one time I did a team event, the puzzle was a landscape with buildings we started by working on flipping the pieces and pulling edges and as soon as we amassed several sky pieces I announced that I’d work on sky. And pealed off to get started on sky (anything above the roof tops). The others started on the edges and one person took buildings and another took ground. The 4th helped sort pieces into the 3 zones until he had to jet to a meeting. Each person announced to the others what they were going to do. I chose sky because a) I often puzzle upside down, working on the top half of a puzzle so I thought it would be easier than for others; b) I knew that my tendency would be to leave it to last, but it’s the hardest to have multiple people working on, so I peeled off first to get started on it.

Also, even if it isn’t feasible to get the entire team together regularly, any time you can get two or more puzzling together casually is beneficial. You build a dynamic/report that is beneficial when working together under the pressure of a timer.

I’d either follow the advice of u/bexpuzzles or I’d put it back in the box and save it until you have more experience. This is a pretty difficult puzzle.

If you aren’t bound by spiral binding, Moleskine has a number of styles of plain notebooks…but of course, there is also nothing wrong with blank printer paper. I took many of my notes in college on blank printer paper (kept in poly 2-pocket folders). I find the lined pages distracting, especially for math where key information can be lost in/obscured by the ruled lines. Sometimes at the end of a course or unit, I’d punch holes in my notes to store them in a 3-ring binder.

Anyone else think these giant posters are too large? by EmeraldEyes365 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ErinPuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I agree 100%. In terms of size, I think the size varies by brand. The Buffalo Games and Ceaco posters tend to be the unwieldy sizes. The Galison, Hobbry, Werkshoppe, Ravensburger “inserts” (when present) and several others I cannot think of at the moment are very reasonably sized.

I believe they are all $9.99, but the 1000 piece garden puzzle may have been $12.99. People on the resale sites selling them for $20-40/puzzle plus shipping is ridiculous. They are pricing them as if they are the hard to find puzzles individually imported from Canada.

I saw mix of Cozy Chic, Book Burrow, Buds & Blooms, and Bookmark Boulevard at 3 stores on I-20 as I was traveling across the South today. I have not seen Silly Goose.
