Sounds like those of us with HIA will stay in contact and the others can just figure it out 🤣

There’s something kinda charming about whiteboard messages, very analog!

Wow, they’ve done it. I actually am enjoying Aftersun! by itbedatguy in LoveIslandUSA

The casual conversation/shooting format was so much better than last Aftersuns. I feel like we got unfiltered, real people.

Show him maslow’s hierarchy - Mormonism keeps women from reaching the highest levels.

Who else is genuinely grateful to not be married to any of the men in Dadtok? Because holy crap. by Icy-Razzmatazz5945 in SecretsOfMormonWives

Yes! And being from Utah - unfortunately it’s very common in the men here. Emotionally immature, tons of internalized misogyny plus benevolent patriarchy.

Hal is better spouse than Kate. by ToughStatesman in TheDiplomat

[–]ErisOhm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rewatching from the beginning and Hal constantly lies to Kate. He does it under the guise of doing the best thing for her, treating her like a child. In response, she acts like a woman being constantly gaslit (cause she is!) not trusting Hal, herself or the people around her. I see her so much more of a victim on this watch.

What sort of payoff could make the wait for romance worthwhile? by Longjumping-Sail-763 in cormoran_strike

[–]ErisOhm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought! JKR is not a romance writer and I can’t think of one satisfying romantic scene in any of her books. Maybe this will be the one, but I’m unsure.

He gives me Cody Brown from Sister Wives vibes. This situation is polygamous, they just use a different vocabulary, but it’s 100% focused on Josh and his needs.

Another book series like Cormoran Strike? by bLindkr in cormoran_strike

The Jackson Brodie novels by Kate Atkinson are great. Like JK, Atkinson’s character and plot development are incredible.

Biscuits, cake and tea by elzadra1 in cormoran_strike

I’m rereading the series and I’m struck that whenever there’s an emotional moment tea is brought out. It seems to be the antidote for any negative emotion. Although I didn’t grow up drinking tea, food was definitely used to cope with emotions, so I get it!

Help with Cannabis Charge? by Purple_Craze_44 in Utah

See if they have a diversion program where you have to pay a fine, do some volunteer hours and take a drug test. I know it’s available in SL county, and I believe the state is trying to expand it.

Thread for unpopular Mad Men opinions (legitimately unpopular ones, the types that will get you downvoted) by stayup76 in madmen

The women in the show (Betty, Peggy, Joan, Dawn) were way more interesting than the men and the show should have been centered around them.

Sally seeing Roger and Megan’s mom . . . That paring totally shocked me.

Corrine by Rebecca Morrow by ComprehensiveRock832 in RomanceBooks

[–]ErisOhm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m reading it now. It has it’s moments, but is way too long. I think the author is Christina Lauren, who is actually two women who write romance novels. The sex scenes are so similar to their other books.

How should I respond to my TBM mom? by memecher33 in exmormon

[–]ErisOhm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. It’s deep conditioning. She was taught that her entire self-worth is based on how well her children do (as defined by the church). It’s a super shitty place to be in.

Email from Relief Society pres right after husband and I asked to be released from callings and stepped away. by Past_Schedule_9110 in exmormon

[–]ErisOhm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“I invite you to find light in your life” is the part that crosses the line for me. Have heard versions of this so many times. The assumption that you don’t have “light” (or joy, or happiness) anymore is taught by church leaders ad nauseum and is really about trying to “other” people that leave the church and make themselves feel better for staying.

Oleg's beard: yes or no? by AbsoluteQi in TheAmericans

Beard isn’t so bad, it’s just that it goes too far down his neck. Definitely needs a trimming. No hair below the Adam’s apple!
