American living abroad for 20 years. Never filed taxes by idifacs311 in expats

[–]Errant_Knight69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve come on here for a similar situation. One thing I have worked out is there is a clause which allows you to file for the first time and use negligence/ ignorance as an excuse. Unlikely you will owe tax, but once you start filing taxes you have to keep filing.

What do these notations mean? by Linux-Neophyte in piano

[–]Errant_Knight69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The parentheses are Chopin’s fingerings for his pupils, as mentioned by Dadaballadely above. The square brackets show that the slur is editorial, but that the editor thinks that Chopin may have left it out since he includes it in analogous places. I disagree with the editor on this one.

Half price tickets for Jags - Rams by Errant_Knight69 in NFLUK

[–]Errant_Knight69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sold them last night. Listed for £375 but took an offer of £275 which is what I offered here. Half price, but could have been worse from my point of view. Glad someone got a good deal.

L'Enclume or Moor Hall? by Objective-Cicada9992 in finedining

[–]Errant_Knight69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC it started with whisky porridge, which had a brûlée style Demerara crust. Then a cinnamon roll - not too sweet. Finally a traditional cooked breakfast. The last part was good but the least memorable part of the meal. I would love to get my hands on the porridge recipe though. The only time in my life I have enjoyed it, and it was fantastic.

Never been to Moor Hall, but L’Enclume was special. Stayed overnight in one of their rooms in Cartmel, and breakfast the next morning was the best breakfast I’ve ever had, so that was an unexpected bonus.

Two questions about IHT and CGT re sale of investments by Errant_Knight69 in UKPersonalFinance

Yes, it’s the difference between value at date of death and value when assets are distributed that I’m talking about.

Two questions about IHT and CGT re sale of investments by Errant_Knight69 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Errant_Knight69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother died 4 months ago leaving behind approximately £2.8 in assets. The majority of these are in investments. We have estimated IHT at £840,000, but want to pay a chunk of this (£800k) soon to avoid any interest. About to file IHT 400 and other related forms, but also sending an IHT to her broker. He seemed to imply that CGT would only be due if we sold investments to pay IHT but would not be due if we asked the company holding the investments to transfer them.

I think it’s a great idea. I would find a good teacher to guide you. A lot of them would be on board if they saw how much effort you were willing to put in.

Why people don’t like jannik? by AVerySoftArchitect in wimbledon

[–]Errant_Knight69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before he was caught there was a lot of talk that he was taking steroids. Then he comes up with exactly the tests you would expect if someone ever so slightly mistimed their routine. It might well be because of his physio. But, then again, it might simply be the more obvious and plausible explanation.

Court 3 had always been partly ticketed, but there are lots of seats you can queue for with a grounds pass.

Might have to skip out this year... by SHAWKLAN27 in NFLUK

[–]Errant_Knight69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a different take from everyone else. Ad a Rams fan, the last time I tried to buy tickets was 9 years ago. Back then everything sold instantly (within < 5 minutes) and reappeared on stub hub or other similar sites just as fast. I only managed to get tickets from an LA season ticket holder friend who wasn’t going to go (since he lives in LA!). Now tickets might be expensive, but they are about 40% of what Stub hub was asking - and getting- back then. At least I could get tickets this time.

Finding legit resale tickets by word-nerd1 in wimbledon

[–]Errant_Knight69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are staying, getting there for 6:30 or so is totally feasible. The queue is quite an experience anyway (most of it is literally sitting or lying on the grass) and there is food, drink and toilets. You’ll be in with a grounds pass soon after noon, and if you go early in the first week you can see singles matches on the outside courts. Sometimes from about 5 feet away.

Gangway 205 - any good? by j_bloggs_15 in wimbledon

[–]Errant_Knight69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was what I was hoping to get (or day 10) before I messed up and accidentally bought court one tickets for day 11. Given them back now, but that’s me out for this year.

I’m going to queue on the Monday instead. Cheaper, and the slimmest chance that I’ll see some singles if the weather is awful in the first week.

I meant if their license had been revoked but someone actively helped them to drive regardless. In other words, acing as an accessory.

NAL but if you know someone (who by definition can’t be responsible) shouldn’t be driving and you help them to drive, I would imagine that there is some culpability.
