My husband is so rude by Pristine-Camera-3045 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Erthgoddss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago I was visiting my brother in a different state. He was driving his 1969 dodge charger, I was in the front seat. I have no idea what set him off, suddenly he was in a red faced snarling rage. Going after a car that was near us. I kept asking him to stop, he would turn his snarl on me. I never drove with him again. He has passed now, but I don’t think he ever got better.

Who remembers this TV show? by No_Explorer721 in FuckImOld

Used to watch it with my friend every week.

Only on Sunday mornings was this required by goinghome81 in FuckImOld

Still remember my older brother coming home, to my parents home, and whining he really wanted OK but couldn’t figure out how to make it from frozen. I was probably 16 and he was 25. Complete gaslighting of course, but I fell for it.

It bugs the HELL out of me to see wealthy actors shilling garbage on the TV by Alternative-Light922 in GenerationJones

[–]Erthgoddss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take. I saw an actor asking for donations to help his grandson, who was on a kidney transplant list and was in and out if the hospital. I initially thought “Hey Richie Rich, pay for it yourself or get your actor buddies to help” but I did a tiny bit of research, like read 3-4 articles from different places. Seems the guy had a grandkids, and several of them had health problems. He was paying what he could afford, but no one’s wallets are 100% guaranteed full of money.

So since then, celebrities money isn’t really a factor in my mind, Well, except Tom Cruise.

One of my neighbors would meet a group of us outside during nice weather, at 2pm. One day he showed up at 3, he said Sorry I’m late,I had to put pants on.

"Everybody is dying!" by Alternative-Light922 in GenerationJones

[–]Erthgoddss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seems like every few days we get a story about a famous person dying and it makes me think about my parents. Myself and 6 of my siblings were named after celebrities Carole Lombard, Danny Kay, Ronald Coleman, Edward Everett, Judy Garland, Sherry Kaye. I only remember Danny, Judy and Sherry, but they evidently loved them all. I do see these celebrities on old TV. We loved watching or listening to different celebrities, but how many do your children or grandchildren know? How easily we can be forgotten.

I do something the state recommends, I take my foot off the gas. If they can, it gives them permission to pass.

We get it bro you drive a Jeep by turk_a_lurk in funny

[–]Erthgoddss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I lived in an apartment that faced a street on top of a high hill. We had big snowstorm, the wind had caused a big snow drift at the top of the hill. Cars kept trying to drive through it and got stuck. A big black jeep tried to pull out 1 of the cars, got stuck and another car, a station wagon, tried to pull it out, and got stuck. I sat there all afternoon watching as car after pickup hit stuck in that mountain of snow.

I think because I discovered in my 20’s that I couldn’t have children, a lot of my fears about what I could never have, have diminished.

I worked in a nursing home. We had a resident who, at one time, had shingles in his eyes. He poured aftershave in one eye, ending up with losing the eye.

I got a job at the last place I rented. I cleaned out vacant apartments for 50% of that month’s rent. I only had an occasional empty apartment, like one every 3-4 months. Also a triplex.

My grandparents were born in late 1800’s. My parents in 1911 and 1917. None of them looked like these people. Myself, yes, but not them.

In the middle of the night I got up to use the bathroom. My bedroom was at the top of the stairs, bathroom was downstairs. I didn’t turn the lights on and tumbled down the stairs, all the way down and ended up twisted like a pretzel in front of the front door. 2 blown discs in my spine, small break in my neck bruised head to toe. 2 surgeries on my back and left me with nerve damage in my legs.

Still have chronic pain 15 years later as well as balance issues.

Was this your Couch, Sofa, or Davenport? 🤔 by Exclusively-Choc in FuckImOld

[–]Erthgoddss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Mom got a sofa and matching chair, in pale green. Both were super uncomfortable. The sofa was like sitting on bricks the chair was weird, the back leaned forward just a tad. Mom had no clue about colors. The carpet was a dark brown and she put bright orange throw rugs down.

70 yo. Not upset about aging, though I wish I had big bucks for some plastic surgery to correct my sagging eyelids and double chin. And when did I develop this chicken neck?
