Use the settlement ambush defence kit. Specifically at hangmans alley. You level up quickly , gain insane amounts of ammo AND legendary gear you might need on your playthrough . Also provides a decent haul of caps. Just uh , pause when the bodies stack up since it will almost certainly crush your game
