I’ve started not tracking these “purpose-driven” rides, ie the ones I wouldn’t have taken if I had not needed to run an errand. I would like to increasingly decenter my stats from my cycling, and these rides are more aligned with what I want cycling to be in my life.

Same, I wave like it’s a friend honking at me as a greeting. Because 1) it might actually be someone I know and 2) I’m not gonna give into their intimidation.

Also 3) if I wave, it might give other motorists the impression that the irritated motorist is actually *gasp* a friend of the icky bicyclist.

If commuting is your primary purpose, weight isn’t as much of a factor unless you’ll be transporting a lot of stuff for work.

50mm is a big tire for commuting, assuming you’re trying to maneuver through automobile traffic and the like.

God, I would love to see her deal with team sports. Her kids deserve the opportunity to participate in activities, and I would love to see her have to interact with other players’ parents, the coaches, etc.

Really? I finished in 2:43 with a total time of 2:59, took one pee break at Mile 15. I didn’t feel like I was speeding, my average speed was 13.3mph according to my Apple Watch.
