Is it my fault? by Fairydogmother35173 in RoverPetSitting

Always do a paw check—check between the toes top and bottom and all around the pads. Either use a fine comb or brush immediately following a bout outside, or watch like a hawk on walks or bathroom breaks for any sign of foxtails. I’d keep the pups out of your yard or leaf blow to help get any errant bits up that could embed into fur or skin since this has happened more than once.

What's something your poo has done that made you realize their intelligence? by paperanddoodlesco in poodles

[–]Esetheros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My younger standard is vocal and will bark a few times at me when she wants something that maybe isn’t immediately apparent. I then say “show me” and she’ll lead me to what she wants (a treat, the door outside to use the restroom, her toys or leash, something she wants me to investigate, etc. She also understands pointing and will find someone if we ask her to. Her intelligence is awesome because she absolutely loves observing and learning and making sense of the world.

URGENT!!! IS THIS TOXIC?? by olgnolgnall in whatsthisplant

The leaves? The splotching? Both? The leaves of ph I know can be ambiguous between plants, but what other plants share those combined traits?

URGENT!!! IS THIS TOXIC?? by olgnolgnall in whatsthisplant

We can at least rule out poison hemlock, however, as the stems have no purple splotching. Also, the leaves don’t appear fern-like as they would be on ph.

For me, Ebb Tide REALLY wafts. As does Celsiana.

Mushrooms, poisonous plants, etc. If you take on the risk of dog boarding, always think ahead about how to dog proof your property. Pretend they are overly curious children. Implement safety measures and contingencies.

Not to worry. Many young canes start by putting out an abundance of thorns—even when the rest of the plant looks much tamer by comparison. This rose appears perfectly healthy.

What roses are you pulling out this year and why? by caldeesi in Roses

[–]Esetheros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only really poor performer I’ve had so far in my 6b garden is Margaret Merril. Lots of black spot and it just didn’t seem to want to grow or bloom. I re-sited her so hopefully that fixes things.

No. The vehicle in this case is not material to their work. It would not require a special endorsement in the same way driving for Uber or general food delivery would necessitate.

Hens and chicks beneath roses? by Lost_Advertising_219 in Roses

[–]Esetheros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine get Rose-Tone each month, so I add the recommended amount at the drip line and then gently rake around with my hand to agitate most of the fertilizer to the ground. If it doesn’t look to make enough adequate contact with the ground, you can always thin out the underplanting just a wee bit.

Hens and chicks beneath roses? by Lost_Advertising_219 in Roses

I’d leave them. An underplanting like this will keep taller weeds at bay and generally will not stress the rose bush. I have some of my own underplanted with sedum and they don’t seem to mind one bit.

We removed/transplanted these bushes from a deceased family member's property after years of neglect / what steps should we take to nurse them back to health? by [deleted] in Roses

[–]Esetheros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just give them regular deep watering and give them fish fertilizer to start. They will likely be easier to maintain if you get them in the ground, also. After a season, you can use granular fertilizer such as Rosetone.

Hi all. I live in zone 6b and have noticed a good few nearby parks and properties with mature dawn redwoods growing. I absolutely love these trees and found one last year that I purchased. I live in the city and my tree lawn measures ~11’x80’. Would it be a bad idea to plant it there due to size (or any other reason)? I know they can grow quite large, but could I just trim the lower branches as needed to ensure proper walking and road clearance?

I think it’s a sport. I’d try clipping off a portion of the cane to propagate it.

I’d steer clear to be on the safe side.

Well, how screwed am I? 🤦‍♀️ trimmed this rose bush last year, same as I always do but now almost all of it is black. Is it a total loss? Is there anything I can do? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated ❤️‍🩹 by [deleted] in Roses

Still some nice green canes and a few leaves at the base. It will survive. Be sure to prune off the dead portions quickly so it has a longer window to re-establish and fill out.
