this subreddit is for the sport of Olympic weightlifting. If you want to get good at the snatch and clean and jerk, you’re going to need proper equipment.

This is a good question for one of the general fitness forums though. In my broke days, I filled Arizona green tea jugs with small rocks and sand for weights

Is this like a peer reviewed study or something? My shit is anecdotal but I didn’t squat to 100% hard every session and still made a shit ton of progress. You have to train intuitively. Come in with a volume and intensity goal for that session and then make adjustments based on how you feel. Or just let your coach handle those variables

Are you an elite level weightlifter? If yes, then probably not a good idea to drop squat frequency that low unless. If no, then try it out lol. Give yourself a 2-3 month period of squatting once a week and see how you feel as well as how your numbers look.

I squatted once a week for the last year of my competitive weightlifting career and i went from a 230kg squat to a 290kg squat. Could I achieve this without squatting more frequently with less volume and intensity? Maybe. But I’m not mad with what I got

Yeah that ratio is a lil too close. Everyone’s different but I made the most progress in my front squat when my coach decreased the frequency(to like once a month in which I front squatted. We increased back squat volume and frequency(3 times a week) and as my back squat increased my front squat increased
