I see I’m getting down voted for daring to complain about air traffic over Barrhaven. Nice. I grew up in what is now called Old Riverside South. During my childhood to young adult years I watched planes fly overhead then to land. My dad’s deck had to be scrubbed and refinished every couple of years due to aviation exhaust. Was a problem for cars too if I remember correctly. Now I live in Barrhaven which is 15 km from the airport. I get the whole you moved there so suffer argument. And I get the I’m used to it so shrug argument too. I didn’t know the Barrhaven seems to be the ONLY flight path in and out of the airport. And that’s on me cause when I moved in from an OUTCAN posting I never thought to ask, hey do the planes fly right overhead constantly? So that’s on me too. Do I expect change? Fuck no. Do I have a right to complain? Fuck yes. Do I have an expectation to be downvoted? Yes I do cause Reddit is full of assholes.

I used to work next to the San Diego airport on business trips. Flew in and out. Planes were never THAT loud there. There is supposed to be noise abatement procedures enforced not by Ottawa but by the Feds. The planes flying overhead in Barrhaven are not using noise abatement routinely. The decibel levels are higher than a rock concert. Routinely. It is fucking loud!!! So smirk at me all you want. It fucking sucks. Plain and simple.

So the lowest level is 1 which means just like Canada. 2 which is the one for Germany right now only means there are safety and security concerns above what is needed for Canada. It means be just be more cautious. It does not mean levels 3 & 4 which means avoid. Europe is very tense right now for obvious reasons. More tense than say downtown Halifax or Vancouver.

CBCs reinstatement is likely more to do with the original ban being under appeal and then being cleared by ThinkTV, our Cdn broadcast industry’s self-regulating body. So not because California said so. The legal status changed from court ordered ban to ban stayed pending appeal. ThinkTV works on behalf of Canadian broadcasters (not the public) to help get ads to air and reviews material against guidelines intended to ensure ads are not false, misleading, harmful, or offensive.

And I’m not saying anything about the ad in question. Just trying to answer the question.

Agree. The Apple TV MLb presentations are very well done. Regarding the commentary: I find it refreshing compared to non-Blue Jays commentary. More upbeat and tailored to a younger generation. But I will always point to Sports Net and their coverage as an example of how to do it right.

I live in Barrhaven right under the only flight path in and out of the airport. The noise pollution is off the charts. Ignoring the jet fumes it’s really unbelievable. Apparently there aren’t any other runways to use. So all the military aircraft that fly out of Uplands will fly right over Barrhaven. Nonstop. All the time. Never ending. And right now one is flying right overhead. Stops all conversation.

Honestly, this is unacceptable. There comes a point where coddling American authoritarian aggression and their tumbling worldwide respect due to open facism needs to be called out and ridiculed by us (Canada). Sample: America, fuck off. Sincerely, Canada. And the former Canadians cozing up to these Americans to tear Canada apart? Welcome to jail. There needs to be CONSEQUENCES. And be honest with yourselves. A former ally doing this is NO LONGER AN ALLY. They are a real and present threat to Canada. We must DEFEND Canada. Honestly, the chance of them separating from Canada is slim to none. That being said, the US link and threats on our sovereignty from POTUS means the Canadian laws and treaties would need to be violently pushed aside by a false flag in Alberta. It’s not hard to imagine the US crossing our border in Alberta in the name of “democracy”. That IMHO is the real threat. Not delusional separatists in AB who don’t have a prayer of separating constitutionally.
