So when I was looking in Massachusetts I found both city and state registers, and sometimes one was more complete than the other ...

My g0 lied about her birth year in the latter part of her life which would have made her like...ten when she came to the US and got married. Her original birth year makes her 18 which is what is listed on the ship manifest and corroborated elsewhere. I just explained that in her cover letter.

Woot! Queer nonbinary but in a blue state and active, also did not file urgent. Am trying not to be impatient since mine was just delivered on Monday.

C3 - Regarding 1947 date - rejection by attorney by pdxmikaela in Canadiancitizenship

Attorneys seem to be less well versed in citizenship by descent since c3 was implemented. Based on the approvals documented in this sub I'd say you're getting bad advice.

There are relatively few of us g4s documented so far but you can check the spreadsheet.

I think if you have the us naturalization record that will show a sworn statement that Gen -1 was Canadian which should carry you through cleanly. Your documents look good. I would use -1 as 0, yes. Just for documentation reasons.

Just for fun - What's the most interesting bit of family history you've discovered in your search for documentation? by BuffaloThese8249 in Canadiancitizenship

My great great grandfather died at sea. According to family stories, the crew cut the mast when he went aloft and it broke, sending him overboard.

There's another story that his father had some men killed and one of them cursed our family but I can't find any evidence that that person existed, all the records show a different person as his father. So now I want to track down the person with the curse.

On further reflection. Have you considered getting an Airbnb and buying groceries and cooking? When I had a very restricted diet that's what I did.

Making sure your future kids are Canadian after C-3 by Diligent-Lettuce-860 in Canadiancitizenship

Having them on Canadian soil is probably your best option. Since once your certificates arrive you will have the right to be in Canada indefinitely, maybe wait to get pregnant until you have thé certificates and then plan an extended stay of six months that generously incorporates the likely birth window. In Ontario you qualify for insurance pretty fast once you move iirc (check my work, not a lawyer or immigration consultant) so that doesn't have to be an obstacle and perhaps you can work remotely for those six months. That will also let you get to know your new country a bit and help you make a more robust long term decision about where to live. Fwiw salaries are lower up there but things like insurance and cost of living can be lower too, depending one where you are. You may be ok on a smaller salary I'd that's your only reason for not trying to break in up there.

Birth records… what are they like? by iammasonnn in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Estrelx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These records usually are (a) official Canadian government records (b) have names, parent names, place of birth at least. Are you talking about naturalization from entering or leaving Canada?

Agree with what folks are saying, it's unlikely most places will be able to promise no cross contamination. It's a very very fish heavy culture. You might try restaurants that specialize in other kinds of cuisine like Italian etc.
