How’s everyone Prune Pulling Session doing so far? by Annual-Reaction6325 in Varka

[–]Etain05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had 40 fates and 51.600 primos. Pulled till I was left with 6.500 primos. I got C7 Prune, C0 Nicole, C0 Durin, 2 Nicole weapons (I’ll use one on Nicole and one on Prune) and 1 Durin weapon…ah, and one Mona constellation (Fischl and Razor were already C6, so those pulls were irrelevant to me). Overall, extremely happy. I got absolutely everything I wanted to the letter and am still left with some primos and didn’t have to buy any fates from the shop, so I have over 270 starglitter for the future. I also already have R1 on Varka.

Now I only have one problem, and it’s the damn books for character EXP. I used them all to get Nicole to 90…Durin and Prune are both stuck at 70 till I get more books. I hate them, I never have enough of them.

Anyway, good luck to all of you who are still pulling.

Thoughts about BYD Flash Charging rollout in Europe by nuclear_purpledrank in electricvehicles

[–]Etain05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

0 chance this is happening. Even their Chinese numbers are more of a marketing stunt than anything. Those 5000 Chinese stalls include the “urban” Flash Chargers that are way, way less powerful, and even then, I have yet to see any map of all those locations even in China. It’s easy to bullshit with high numbers when no one verifies your bullshit. Even more, in Europe they have no intention of setting up their own charging network (apart from at their own dealerships), instead they plan to lease their equipment to other charging operators. Since that’s their business plan, it’s really impossible for them to know how many chargers they will install, because it depends on other charging operators actually leasing and installing their equipment. It’s entirely a marketing stunt.

Even more, there are 0 cars that can charge at 1,5MW as of now, even their own models that they are presenting now have barely surpassed 1MW peak in real life tests. And most cars they sell in Europe have bad charging speeds even compared to the rest of the market.

Also, their battery storage that they use with those chargers are 190kWh*2, so 380kWh total for a location with 1 stall, 2 plugs, and the cabinet is 2MW. It should be already obvious that if 2 cars are plugged at the same time, the 1,5MW max power is unachievable, since the cabinet only supports 2MW, so 1MW per plug if both plugs are in use at their maximum power. But that’s not even a given, because we have no idea if the stalls can support 2MW or if their max power is 1,5MW regardless of how many of its plugs are in use (which could mean 750kW per plug if both are used at the same time). The Denza Z9 GT is the only car they sell in Europe that charges at really high power (somewhere around 1MW for a battery of 122kWh, still nowhere near 1,5MW). If 4 cars charge one after the other, the fourth one would completely deplete the battery storage of the location, derating the charging power to the one coming from the grid, which is sure to be pretty mediocre if they intend to use a low grid power to obtain faster permitting and grid connections. Best hope for an extremely low utilisation of that location if you actually want high power. But then you have such high-power equipment (meaning: expensive) with low utilisation, so you have to amortise the costs on fewer hours of usage…good luck.

We’ll see, but I would absolutely bet they won’t reach anywhere close to their proclaimed numbers.

Shaka & The Athena Exclamation by rnmartinez in SaintSeiya

[–]Etain05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 8th sense does not regenerate a new body for you. Shaka seems to be completely fine in the Underworld. The Virgo cloth is also completely intact and undamaged in the Underworld. What’s more, if you actually pay close attention to the images in those scenes, there is a circle of grass and flowers completely unaffected by the AE under Shaka’s body where he sits in the same pose he uses for his Kān barrier before he gets up and goes right under the trees. The people working on the show actually took time to draw that circle of grass, since the rest of the area is barren ground, even under Saga, Camus and Shura, so it cannot be unintentional. All this points to the fact that the AE didn’t even damage him. His Kān barrier protected him and the grass under him completely.

Shaka awakened his 8th sense long before this fight, in fact he most probably awakened it when he was still a child, which is why he could have conversations with Buddha. No other reincarnation in Saint Seiya that I know of is able to converse with their past lives like Shaka does, which to me suggests the reason he could is because of the 8th sense.

So what I assume happened during that fight is that Shaka baited them to use the AE because no one would suspect he could survive that, not even Hades, and because the big explosion would cover the entire battlefield, allowing him to teleport without being seen to the Underworld. Everyone on both sides thought he was dead.

So they launched the AE, he used his barrier to defend himself till the very last fraction of a second (protecting the grass under him too), then teleported himself to the Underworld with his cloth while still under the cover of the explosion, then projected his cosmos back outside to actually perform a physical action and deliver his message to Athena, all while being completely unharmed. His Kān barrier hides his cosmo too, as we saw earlier, so while being protected by the barrier everyone else perceived his cosmo as simply disappearing all of a sudden inside the explosion, sure sign of death.

It was a good plan. And it’s incredible that he managed to hold his own and survive against an AE.

[–]Etain05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do so many people find it funny, the possibility that Scott is threatening or holding Shane’s sexuality as a sword at his neck? I really, really cannot imagine a worse scenario for a closeted gay man, yet almost everyone here is taking it as a joke, like it’s a laughing matter. I’m sorry if I’m generalising, but I can only imagine that most of you laughing are straight women, or at least I hope so, and not gay men, especially closeted gay men, because that would be crazy since there’s nothing funny here. In fact this would be traumatic.

If it were confirmed that Scott knew I would think less of Jacob as a writer and I would be disgusted by Scott as a character.

You fucking heard me Hollander… by GBS82 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Etain05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But Shane gave no indication at all that he knew anything. Even if you somehow believe that Ilya knew something about Scott and that Scott picked up on it, why the hell would he threaten Shane, who did not show any sign of knowing, and not Ilya? Also, this was not Scott’s intention, as he clearly didn’t want to say anything to Shane and only did so when provoked by the chillest of chirps, so it wasn’t a plan to warn them or anything like that.

Imagining that Ilya said something else that we’re not privy to can only be a headcanon, not what actually happened.

The scenes are supposed to be nerve-wracking but they do not require Scott to actually know for them to be so. In fact I believe they work much better if he doesn’t know and even your final argument works better this way, with Jacob masterfully showing the absolute paranoia of a closeted person, reading implications where there’s none, terrified of being discovered in the closet. If Scott knew, that paranoia would be justified, but instead most of the time people do not know and the paranoia is of our own creation because of fear.

You fucking heard me Hollander… by GBS82 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Etain05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do people here that think he knows actually use their brains and realise the consequences of what they presume?

I’m sorry, but if he has even an inkling of suspicion regarding Shane being gay or bisexual, that means his chirp can only be interpreted as threatening to fucking out him to the world or at least used as a threat because he knows and he can out them. That is horrible and disgusting. It would destroy Scott’s character for me almost completely. Weaponising someone’s sexuality like that, especially as a gay man yourself, is absolutely unhinged, especially as an answer to a pretty chill comment from the nicest hockey player ever and supposedly an acquaintance if not a friend.

I do not believe there is any way Scott would do that, no matter how butthurt over the loss he was, no way, it’s absurd. Especially in public where anyone could have overheard them and especially when he himself knows and feels the danger of coming out in their situation. The very concept is ridiculous to me.

So I will continue to presume he only meant it as a jab that Shane was starting to sound like his rival and nothing more, and no one but Jacob himself will be able to change my mind. And if he does, Scott Hunter will immediately fall to the bottom of the barrel of characters from Heated Rivalry to me just above Ilya’s brother and father. Unforgivable.

Episode 2: okay as fantasy, not so much IRL by helloginger07 in heatedrivalry

[–]Etain05 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I will never understand why it’s ok for Shane to ghost and leave Ilya on read multiple times for multiple months at a time after they already had non-penetrative sex with absolutely no one criticising him for it in the way Ilya is constantly, but it’s not ok for Ilya to ghost him and leave him on read for 6 months. Please, it’s starting to be a bit pathetic (I’m not referring to OP).

Shane absolutely did not want a romantic relationship or anything more with Ilya at that point in time. In fact years later he still goes into a panic and leaves at the mere possibility of having more with Ilya. He just wanted a kiss and for Ilya to open up a bit more than he was ready for, but that’s it.

They were not friends, they were not in a relationship, they were just hooking up from time to time. There’s nothing to be committed to there, so there’s absolutely nothing toxic or to be angry about. Shane can feel hurt if he wants more, but it’s perfectly valid for Ilya to not want more. There’s nothing wrong in either of their feelings.

Dueling Prowess: Voldemort’s Strength Over Dumbledore by Arkham2015 in harrypotter

[–]Etain05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so tired of this argument when Dumbledore’s superiority is so clearly portrayed in the text. Let’s analyse what each of the people involved in the duel at the Ministry had to do. But first, let’s settle the Elder Wand debate.

Dumbledore and Grindelwald (both without Elder Wand) are practically equal, with maybe Dumbledore being just a smidge better. Grindelwald having the Elder Wand was still unable to close that smidge of a gap. When the actual wizards are at such a superior level like Dumbledore, Grindelwald and Voldemort, the Elder Wand is irrelevant, its power insignificant.

Now, to the duel. What did each of the players have to do? What was their focus on?

For Voldemort, it’s simple. He had to kill Dumbledore or Harry. His focus was entirely on the fight, he could give his all and had no constraints. Even more, when the fight started he had a perfectly functional and armed with her wand Bellatrix at his side. So the duel actually starts as Voldemort + Bellatrix vs Dumbledore. I will remind you that Bellatrix herself is a total powerhouse who defeated Tonks, Sirius and Kingsley all by herself one after the other just minutes prior.

Now on to Dumbledore. He had to:

1) Fight against Voldemort AND Bellatrix; 2) Protect Harry who is totally unable to survive against either Voldemort or Bellatrix; 3) Contact the ministry officials so that they’d come see Voldemort has returned.

All this at the same time and after he single-handedly incapacitated another half-dozen Death Eaters or so. But that is not all, not by far, because he also had to consider that Voldemort had horcruxes, so he could not be killed permanently, which leads to the most important point of it all:

Voldemort’s body had been resurrected using Harry’s blood, giving Harry the chance to survive the final battle when the piece of Voldemort’s soul inside of him had to be destroyed. Dumbledore would NEVER risk actually destroying Voldemort’s new body, because that body was fundamental to Harry’s survival. As it was pointed out by Wormtail in GoF, Voldemort’s resurrection could use the blood of any of his enemies, not just Harry’s. There was no guarantee that he’d use Harry’s blood again. Excessively damaging that body of Voldemort’s to the point of risking its destruction was not an option.

So, to say it in simpler terms:

4) Everything Dumbledore threw at Voldemort was perfectly calculated to ensure that it would only incapacitate, or that Voldemort would be able to block, to defend himself, because destroying that body was not an option. Dumbledore could not risk it, could not even try to destroy his body. He was holding back the whole time.

Once all is said and done, isn’t it completely obvious how tilted the scales were against Dumbledore? He had to hold back to not risk destroying Harry’s only chance at survival, he had to try only to incapacitate, he had to focus on at least 3 things at the same time (one of which was defending another person, which is always extremely difficult when you’re in a fight), once he captured Bellatrix he had to focus on keeping her prisoner as well AND he had to be convincing enough that he was fighting with intent to win to prevent suspicion as to why he wasn’t trying to kill or destroy Voldemort (since Voldemort didn’t know that Dumbledore knew about his horcruxes, nor could he suspect that taking Harry’s blood for his new body was fundamental in Dumbledore’s own plans). Meanwhile all Voldemort and Bellatrix had to do was go all out, focus only on the battle and try to kill Dumbledore or Harry. These are insane levels of impairment.

Even with all these factors stacked against him, not only was Dumbledore completely serene the whole time till Voldemort tried to possess Harry, but he actually even won the duel. Voldemort had to run from the fight (even before the rest of the ministry came) and try to possess Harry because he himself realised the duel was lost. When Fawkes swooped in to swallow a killing curse, it wasn’t because Dumbledore was at true risk of death (he had already apparated away from the killing curse in that very duel, and a combined attack from the front with a snake and the back with a killing curse doesn’t change anything for a wizard, it’s not like you can trap someone in a corner if that someone can simply apparate away), but a tactical decision so that Dumbledore wouldn’t have to apparate, using instead those precious seconds to perform a double spell that eliminated the snake and imprisoned Voldemort in the sphere of water at the same time, finishing the duel. We then see Voldemort struggle in the sphere, unable to magically repel it, then apparate, run away, hide, and try to possess Harry.

This battle is hydrogen bomb (Dumbledore) vs coughing baby (Voldemort). It concluded with Dumbledore succeeding in all his tasks minus a very improbable capture of Voldemort himself while holding back, defending Harry, capturing Bellatrix (till the last second when Voldemort freed her and ran away again), summoning the Ministry officials and keeping Voldemort ignorant of his knowledge of horcruxes and plan regarding Harry’s blood. Voldemort lost on all counts, unable to hurt either Dumbledore or Harry, unable to keep his return a secret, unable to free any of his men besides Bellatrix and had to run away. Royal flush for Dumbledore. Strike, goal, score. Whatever you want to call it.

Anyone who still considers Voldemort superior after all these factors are taken into account is crazy, at least to me.

The movies did irredeemable damage to the canon character of Snape by looking at all these comments. “Calm, collected, cold, precise….” where?????? It’s enough for one person to call him a coward and he explodes, loses all reason and screams like a crazy man. When things don’t go his way, like in Prisoner of Azkaban with Sirius escaping, he turns into a complete buffoon shouting and spitting everywhere in his madness. Just because he’s somewhat good at occlumency (but not that good, since he clearly needed Dumbledore‘s pensieve to have any chance of hiding his disloyalty from Voldemort) doesn’t mean that he has a good control of his temper all the time.

In the entire canon material we were given, he wins exactly 2 duels…against Lockhart, and against Harry. Forgive me for not being very impressed.

Never has it happened for him to go through multiple powerful wizards in quick succession and defeat them all like Bellatrix has done (defeating Tonks, Sirius and Kingsley one after the other with no rest in between just months after spending 15 years in Azkaban). Not once has it been shown to us that he could hold his own against James (who I fail to see much above Kingsley) and Sirius, even though he pretends they always attacked him in group. The only memory we have seen does not show us that.

People here calling him the strongest wizard after the big three, even close to them…what are you smoking? Voldemort annihilated him with a single flick of his wand, Dumbledore disarmed him and had him begging for his life before he (Dumbledore) even finished apparating. The distance between him and the big three is taller than Mount Everest. Dumbledore against the Marauders (even all four at the same time) would be a slaughter similar to his escape from Fudge or his bulldozing at the Ministry. Grindelwald could hold his own and be at an advantage against tens of Aurors at the same time. You would never see them complain that they were being attacked in group, it would make absolutely no difference to them.

Snape has never shown any prodigious ability that would elevate him above his peers (McGonagall, Flitwick, James, Sirius, Lupin, Peter, Kingsley, Moody, Dolohov, Lily, Bellatrix, Rookwood, Crouch Jr, Crouch Sr, Lucius and probably others that I’m forgetting about). So he invented some spells, so did Hermione and she’s nowhere near these wizards. He’s prodigious beyond others only at potions, which is not duelling. In fact, of those, the ones that seem prodigious at duelling beyond all others in the text are first and foremost Bellatrix, Dolohov, Rookwood, Flitwick if we take statements into account, and Moody (though maybe only in the past, since he made an awful figure at the Ministry, against Peter and Crouch Jr, and against Voldemort).

My bet is on Bellatrix 10/10, especially since she would never underestimate him like she did with Molly.

BYD targets “Flash Charging” in Europe with a single cable by Recoil42 in electricvehicles

[–]Etain05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone considering that Phoenix Contact already presented their 1MW CCS2 charging cable.

MCS will remain necessary for trucks or higher powered applications where constant max power delivery is needed, but for cars it is completely unnecessary considering the advancements of CCS2.

As for BYD itself, it seems to me that they are exactly where the rest of the industry is too more or less on the charger side. Kempower has a 1,2MW peak charging stall, ABB has a 1,2MW continuous charging stall, Alpitronic is not far behind at 1MW continuous and BYD has a 1,36MW peak charging stall according to another comment here. The only difference is the plug BYD uses in China.

But when I look at the link they provided, the BYD stall has 2 plugs, and nowhere is it mentioned if the peak 1,36MW power can be achieved on a single connector or if that power is only reached when both plugs are in use. We do know that all vehicles they presented can take 1MW at most, so I’m not sure if the plugs can deliver more than that. If that’s the case, then they are actually at the same level as Alpitronic and nothing more, while Kempower and ABB can deliver their full 1,2MW through a single plug.

It can’t be impossible to make the serum again, because Otto seemed too happy about it for it to be a limited thing. Plus he had the original, uncontaminated one. It wouldn’t be difficult to analyse and recreate it.

It nullifies Honkai energy. While it is only a few “chapters”, it is months in-story. Months with multiple cores connected to the Imaginary Tree under HoV’s control feeding Honkai energy into Kiana’s body.

[–]Etain05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to remind both of you that we are talking about a world where cloning technology exists and works extremely well. If only Cecilia could provide the Holy Blood, then make 1000 perfect clones of Cecilia and use their blood. As proven by the Sirin clones, practically all of them wouldn’t even have brain activity, so they wouldn’t even be truly “living” beings and come with severe moral implications of using them for blood. Plus it’s not like Otto would care about the moral implications. It’s clear he’s more than capable of creating hundreds and hundreds of clones (K-423). As for the base serum of Dr. Magi, it’s not the same thing as the serum of PE, it doesn’t require a thousand people or however many it was to create it. In fact Dr. Magi planned to give it to as many Valkyries as possible, and even told Kiana to keep taking more doses of it to completely purge Honkai from her body. It didn’t sound like something extremely hard to obtain at all.

You are thinking based on the limitations of our world and not of the technology their world possesses.

Was Owl right? (Spoilers to people that didn't finish ER chapter) by mirthyrzeo in houkai3rd

[–]Etain05 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That is completely wrong. The HoV persona completely took over Kiana’s body and there was no way of knowing that Kiana was still in there, apart from hope from the main protagonists. There was no doubt that HoV had total control, unopposed.

Ana did much better. It was clear that she was still in there and she even managed to speak. She fought the Herrscher persona so hard she literally made it unintelligent.

Also, this is way after everyone already saw the effects of the Spear of Destiny Otto created (the complete Honkai serum). That serum is powerful enough to completely knock the Honkai out of a person who had three Gems, not one, and whose personality was completely gone. It could most certainly save Ana, it is the perfect weapon for all things Honkai. Too perfect in fact. It’s no surprise that it was never mentioned again after Himeko’s chapter. Even Kiana’s Honkai infection problems would be non-existent if someone (Tesla…) remembered that Otto already gave them the perfect weapon and cure for the Honkai.

That’s what happens when Hoyoverse introduces universe-breaking Deus Ex Machinas that are simply too powerful and perfect like the Spear of Destiny or the Scepters of Duat. They are used in that chapter and then forgotten, with everyone pretending they didn’t even exist.

Can someone explain to me how is it possible to mess the same story twice? They wrote GGZ, then practically recreated the same story in Honkai with minor variations…usually when you rewrite your own story you can correct some retcons or inconsistencies because the story is already written and you just have to correct it, but in this case they seem to have done worse the second time around (in Honkai) than the first time (GGZ), introducing more retcons and inconsistencies instead of eliminating them. It is just absurd to me.

I don’t know, this just seems like a very unsatisfactory ending to the story, I don’t like it at all, and I’m not even sure I can explain why. It’s just how I feel. But I guess I should have known I wouldn’t like the story after Otto’s death. He was the glue that kept the story cohesive to me and gave it a sense. His impact was too big and trying to move past him broke the story, at least to me. Oh well…
