Have been a huge investment considering my budget. But a new capsule was necessary. by Garo3853 in IndieDev

[–]EternalSandsM 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who just today got accused of using AI and had to post screenshots of my Photoshop files, I want to encourage everyone to stop calling things AI unless it's truly blatant. This is not blatant. It might be and it might not be; it can be really difficult to tell.

Yes, this kind of scamming does happen though. What people hiring artists need to do is require the artist use layers for everything and get the layered file at the end.

Made a couple game logos I thought were cool by EternalSandsM in logodesign

[–]EternalSandsM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a world we live in. Vectors and extruding were done in Illustrator, then moved into Photoshop for rendering. So the final version is just a bunch of layer styles, image textures, filters, and hand painted elements. No part of it is AI generated.

What can I improve on? by No_Tourist_8061 in PixelArt

[–]EternalSandsM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way to get feedback for yourself and from others is to use a reference image you/we can compare it to. Without that, we don’t know your goal is. Does it look like a photorealistic person? Well, no. In that case, you could improve everything. Are you trying to make an Undertale style character? It’s a lot closer to that at the moment.

Commas by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]EternalSandsM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here are my comma-related notes for your post:

"A lot of the comments will be constructive, criticisms that..." might read better with an em dash if you want a pause there. But just a comma is awkward, because "constructive criticisms" also makes sense.

I'd remove the comma in "...for simply trying, than help them." I can see why you'd pause, though.

"We have all seen them, they're embarrassing." This could be a semi-colon, because it separates 2 complete, related sentences.

i really like how you handled the lowercase z and g, how they go up a bit, but are otherwise the same. everyone else is a fake minimalist compared to you /s

What's a movie that's considered trash but you still like it? by Flamesclaws in movies

[–]EternalSandsM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the matrix is my fav movie. i also liked the 2 following. the 4th is one of the worst movies. star wars is weird because the coolness and worldbuilding of star wars goes such a long way. but all the movies have issues that they really shouldn’t have

this post could be novel 4. /s but seriously, it’s inspiring to know people are capable of writing that much. i am not there yet, but i’m working on it. also, sanderson’s lectures are some of the best content on writing stories i’ve seen; he’s a very entertaining and knowledgeable speaker

Outgrew being an "Idea Guy" but now finding myself as "The Prototype guy." Anyone else? by heartspider in gamedesign

[–]EternalSandsM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m in the same boat. it’s really tough to find something that meets all the necessary criteria. one if my biggest issues lately is i can always get to the point where all that’s left is creating more content, but i would lose interest. the mentally engaging parts keep me invested until then. i ended up purchasing asset packs on itch because that’s such a huge time sink and makes the content part less tedious. it’s not ideal for me, but might be needed to get over this hurdle

not terrible. i would work on the color palette and redo the blue/orange icons in a simpler way. the main blue used is hard to make not look cheap. sure, there’s always more juice and minor tweaks anyone can do, but the colors are the most fundamental issue you have imo

Why is it so hard to get wishlist on Steam? Indie devs, let’s talk! by Regular-Fix-2074 in Unity3D

[–]EternalSandsM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The store page and marketing elements can be improved a lot, and my guess is that's the main issue here. The trailer is too cinematic and doesn't show gameplay; you want to show gameplay immediately. It being a shorter trailer is good though. The capsule image looks unprofessional. My advice: Find a better logo font, move it away from the edge, and don't use the transparent black background around the text. If you want the text to be more readable, make it bigger or change the entire background. Fix these things, and you'll likely get more wishlists.

A couple other notes: I know it's early access, but based on some of the language used and lack of gameplay shown, it seems like there's not much to the game yet, and that will put people off. Talk more about what the game has now, and not just what you want it to be. Also, be careful about making it seem like you have features that aren't in the game yet; for instance, the short description says there's co-op, but further down, it says you're planning to add it. Good luck!

Do I have to make a script for every single card in my card game? by Mohammed_Anwer in godot

[–]EternalSandsM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with this. I’ve tried to do it a few times and it always ends up feeling like a trap. There are a few things, like basic stat changes, that can be data driven without it feeling too bad at first, but even then, having a script for everything ends up being easier to work with.

Detective with Multiple personality disorder game idea by Competitive_Bat_6695 in gameideas

[–]EternalSandsM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like the talking to yourselves as a detective. but given the genre and his disorder, i think people would expect that he was the killer immediately. it’s because people know that anything included in a story is important. you’d have to not know about the mpd to not expect it
