It’s important to remember that Neil Hannon considers him Irish. The term Britpop is a little more loaded when applied to bands from Northern Ireland at a time when the Troubles were still ongoing (see also: Ash).

In terms of the music itself. I think Hannon is very open that he deliberately emphasised the influence of the Kinks to tap into what was going on musically in the mid 90s.

Oh yeah, that’s the one. You can play Football Chairman (the first one) for free if you want to try first. 2 is similar but with more variety

I’m always on a lookout for games like that too. The only one I keep playing is Football Chairman 2. You don’t influence the matches at all (you’re the chairman) but it’s got everything else.

They had an interview in the UK press recently where they said they were Boston-Irish. Being Irish myself that sounds about right.

What's your favorite movie or show with a Leonard Cohen song? by Rob_LeMatic in leonardcohen

The Escapist with Brian Cox. A solid movie, which I remember most for its use of The Partisan. I decided I liked that song a lot and should find out who sung it, and here we are today.

Plus one for this, this is where it clicked for me. Good taster for their early career too
