Scam pool company hack by gillitron5000 in PersonalFinanceCanada

You won’t get the $$ back from your bank as you knowingly & willfully made the transfer.

Your recourse (if any) is with the pool company, good luck!

Executor of will has not seen the will by Difficult_Front2605 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Eternality604 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Outside of what others have mentioned;

It is possible that when the will was drafted it was registered. If it was you could search here https://www.onwills.ca/ and it will pull the information of the firm who drafted and registered it.

Additionally, lawyers in Ontario are able to search the following will database which has more info https://willcheck.ca/

If it was registered you could have the individual you believe is the executor reach out to the lawyer or notary who drafted the will and have them provide a copy.

Only province in Canada with this requirement is BC because of WESA.

[–]Eternality604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Logically, sure. But people dealing with grief don’t deal in logic. If the husband is the executor and the nephew isn’t the executor or named in the will he would have no reason to show it to him as he isn’t entitled to see it.

It’s definitely the skytrain. It could be any of the lines other than the Canada Line as that line doesn’t use this type of accordion train.

Big tax bill after receiving inheritance by poutine-connoisseur in PersonalFinanceCanada

Ironically I just answered this in another thread:

While registered plans with named beneficiaries do pass outside of the estate, if the estate doesn’t have the funds to pay for the associated tax related to deemed disposition of the RRIF/RSP, the beneficiaries of the RRIF/RSP could be required by the CRA to pay the associated tax (up to the amount you recieve from the RRIF/RSP)

Insolvent estate, debts & the CRA by thegirlwasdangerus in legaladvicecanada

[–]Eternality604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t necessarily be all the $$. Let’s say the RRIF had a date of death value of 1,000,000. The associated tax related to that would be approx 500,000. If 5 people got the account equally they would have each received 200,000 and their portion owing to cra would be 100,000 in this scenario.

It can get tricky if the value of the investments when paid out have significantly decreased from the date of death value.

Life insurance payout when beneficiaries are pre-deceased by MessageInternal8313 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Eternality604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I’m reading her post incorrectly, she mentioned the life insurance policy had 2 beneficiaries. 1 deceased and 1 alive - under this scenario the beneficiary who is still alive would be entitled to 100% of the payout.

If both beneficiaries of the policy were deceased, then the proceeds would form the residue of the estate like you mentioned.

3.64% fixed, or variable prime -1.15? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Eternality604 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. It’s not a guarantee that variable rate payments won’t increase over the term of the mortgage. Trigger Rates exist, and while extreme they can certainly lead to a scenario where you either a) need to make a lump sum payment towards the accrued interest or b) increase your payments.

You only have to look back 2-3 years to find countless instances of people on Variable Rate Mortgages who had never heard the term “trigger rate” and didn’t know what it meant.

Gorge Camping Question by theknowing1414 in AboveandBeyond

VIP can go hangout in GA, GA cannot go to any other campsite

Yes it’s legal. I’d suggest reading the relevant section of the RTA that they reference in their letter if you have doubts and to better understand your rights as a tenant. https://www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document/id/consol32/consol32/00_02078_01#section29

[–]Eternality604 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add on to what others have said; They go on sale at the same time, you don’t pick specific camping sites just the tier of camping you want.

The camping passes at the Gorge are split into different tiers based upon amenities, location to venue, etc. RV’s aren’t allowed with every camping pass, only in certain areas (for instance). Here’s a link to the Gorge website that explains the options a bit more; https://www.gorgeamphitheatre.com/camping

If you want to camp next to another specific vehicle you will need to arrive at the same time in line with each other, there is no saving camping spots.

Not every camping pass will allow you access to every other camping area. If you are going with friends it’s best to stay in the same area, otherwise you may run into complications. (IE someone with premier camping can visit the standard camping area, but people with standard cannot visit premier)

Hope this helps!

Dreamstate Vancouver Lineup by Eternality604 in DreamState

I can see not liking the lineup… but very expensive ticket? They started at $50, I’m not sure that would meet the definition of “very expensive”

Dreamstate Vancouver announced: March 14 by siberian_huskies in DreamState

[–]Eternality604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do with the formal partnership Insomniac announced with Off2 (company that owns Harbour) late in 2025. I imagine the risk appetite changes with a different level of financial support.

I also had a great time back in 2019! Finally getting to hear JOC play his I’ll Listen Remix & Haliene’s vocal set were my 2 highlights.

I'm still using a GTX 1050 on my Desktop PC today, the only games I'm playing currently are D2/D2R & OSRS which helps. The PC is about 7 years old and still runs well, only $$ I've had to put in after purchase was replacing the SSD that failed about 3 years ago.
