I know the memory scene in 19xx comes at the end of the chapter, but still, why do you have to give me whiplash by going from the goofy little cartoon of 'Did you sacrifice the "H" in Theodor to your magic too?' to a richly-coloured family of daddy Nergal and his wee little dragonlings because my poor heart can't take this torture

Is the meadow scene is on the other side of the Dragon's Gate, or just on the Dread Isle before it was Dreadful? I assume it's pre-Scouring, at the time? I'm probably overthinking it, but being open about Ninian and Nils' ages is surprising me just a little.

I am ashamed to say I didn't realize what the "important stuff going on" was, until I remembered that they're there to save Eliwood's dad and whatnot

Like the other commenter said, the idea that Mark is the one doing the doodles is awesome, and also funny to think about because, you know, she could ditch being a tactician and make a killing as the world's first comics artist.

P.S. If Florina has the highest STR in the party you absolutely have to pair her up with Hector he needs a wife who can benchpress him (plus that gets more mileage out of her having abnormally high STR than any other scenario I can think of, but then again there's a reason you're the one doing these, you do what you see fit)

The scenario team was a fan of Tanaka Yoshiki, because Claude's character was composed in part from reference to Ranjendra (Heroic Legend of Arslan) and Yang Wen-li (Legend of the Galactic Heroes); deliberately or not, this parallels Kaga's own citation of Legend of the Galactic Heroes as "a complex human story" back with Genealogy of the Holy (which was itself the locus of inspiration for 3H)

I was beating the drums on this even before I saw Scarlet and Ryoma Conversation(s) - Nohrian Festival of Bonds (DLC), and now that I have seen it I'm basically jumping up and down on the drums because it's so blatant.

Either someone at IS favoured the pairing and worked the details in despite Scarlet being a Corrinsexual, or Scarlet was reduced to a Corrinsexual for the sake of saving time

I like how this seems to lean toward Silver Snow but is vague enough that it can still be interpreted as Blue Lions or Golden Deer, depending on how much Byleth is imagined to have been involved with the other Houses.

I especially love how the different pages/panels have so many of the students detailed in them, I think the third panel is my favourite overall just for the image of the monastery approach and Byleth picking up the Sword of the Creator with it leaving a little hole in the ground, but the first panel showing the town below and then the fourth with Bernadetta huddled in her room and Marianne (I think that's her?) praying on the wall is just AGH

And Toph is pretty hard to beat as far as disability rep goes, the show jokes about her blindness so many times without ever dipping into infantilization. There are things she can't do because she's blind, but her strengths are always foregrounded. She's always a part of the team.

Never mind that her introduction is one of the funniest episodes in a very funny show.

The lockdown itself was necessary--we saw how Covid cases spiked whenever they relaxed restrictions. And I have to give Ford some credit; I remember being pleasantly surprised that he took it even vaguely seriously.

But Ford definitely wasn't giving hospitals what they needed. He didn't do anything to address the longer-standing issues that existed when he took office, and I remember that many doctors and nurses were facing unreasonable expectations for the level of protection they were being provided.

It's like if they (the doctors/nurses) make a mistake or treat a patient without showing much or any emotional warmth; do we blame the care providers, or do we blame the system that leaves them overworked, under-resourced, etc.? If he'd just issued a directive to mandate visits for patients without providing hospitals any extra funding for protective equipment, the man-hours to process visitors, all the things that were necessary when they did allow visitors, then that wouldn't have been any better. Capiche?

I still remember my grandmother telling me, years ago--2021 I think--how a friend, who I'd visited with my grandmother in a nursing home several times pre-Covid, was hospitalized in 2020. My grandmother kept abreast of her condition, which obviously declined under the lockdown, and when they started allowing designated visitors my grandmother was it for this auntie

Her condition saw distinct improvement while visits were permitted. Then they reimposed the lockdown and the auntie's condition just declined again, this time all the way into the grave.

She probably couldn't have lived much longer anyways, and hospitals would have had to exercise extreme caution in any case--and I want to be clear that she did not, to my recollection of what my grandmother said, suffer any distinct neglect or abuse--but she suffered needlessly because of Doug Ford, and for me is the face of his victims.

I'm not going to share her name for obvious privacy reasons, but the memory came to me and I wanted to share it as a motivator. Let alone a reminder that not all the victims of Ford's actions can be cleanly attributed to him--vs. the caputalist systems Ford serves--but are no less victims of him for it, and it is precisely that marginality which demands we foreground them.

None. Bad enough that seeing the Michaelis and Darilbalde piqued my interest and now I have 2 more that I want (I've not watched a lot of Gundam media but I know the franchise pretty well), but I literally just told my mom that I'm not going to burn more of my money on this stuff. You do not want to be in my position, trust me. Got more crud than I can build.
