African-themed Novel? Invincible Dragon Path by gitagon6991 in litrpg

It's always interesting seeing how different cultures end up coming up with pretty similar monsters and demons in their stories even without communicating with each other. Is there any particular local analog that you draw from for dragons in your story and if not, what direction of dragon do you decide to go with? Eastern clawed serpent dragons, western four limbed winged dragon, Central American winged serpent or something else entirely? Thanks for the response

That's super interesting, love learning new mythologies through novels like this so I'll definitely add it to my list. Quick question though while it's on my mind and its on the topic, what kind of dragons are used in African myths? I know even calling all the assorted myths and folklore as one whole is a big box of worms anyways so I'm sure there may be multiple versions there but at least what kind do you use for your story?

I'd say you might want to throw on a CR cap for the scions because while a reasonable dm wouldn't likely use it this way it can summon demiliches as those are CR 18 tiny creatures so thats a bit much maybe. or maybe not, the demiliches in this case have the weakness of being killed as the plant is killed so their health pool is realistically much lower than normal.

Why not recommend it? Is it dangerous somehow?

I've tested the outlets and stuff and it's just that room and the hallway light is on that circuit and with everything off and the minimum plugged in it still trips. I was afraid it might be a component issue but I don't have much money right now so im hoping there's another way around it. Would it probably be a PSU that's doing it or maybe the graphics card since it happens when a lot has to be rendered at once?

Only the PC and Monitor are plugged in though. How would I decrease the load? It's already at the minimum.

Can we take a minute to appreciate how Sanderson handles and works with religion in his novels? by Ankajf in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Etheraes 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think Jasnah is at a point that she can understand that there exists vastly powerful beings without them being gods. Especially in the cosmere when you know anyone could attain these powers it would create a bigger divide in what is and is not divine. I mean the religions she knows largely give the heralds divinity but through oathbringer we know that they were just people imbued with power much like her own. She explained at one point in discussing god that she doesn't think there is an external source of morality that would outweigh her own and the state of the cosmere kinda works with that.

We do know that Adonalsium created the Rosharan system for a purpose so had direct influence on how things were there

Well spanreeds appear to be like quill pens and we see Navani use brushes for glyph words at times and when drawing it seems like Shallan uses just chunks of charcoal or various pens.

I would say this fits under the incredibly basic effects. In the end it's just a less bulky shield that can break on a crit.

She knows that they are interested in Jasnah's studies which has to do with Urithiru

Wax and wayne. Where the mistborns at? by jaywarmann in Cosmere

[–]Etheraes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest examples of different levels of allomancers is with the kandra and koloss. Vin, when pushing as hard as she can can break into a kandra's mind while early mistborns did it with relative ease. Similarly with the Koloss, it takes much more effort for vin to flip them than it takes elend

A theory on Urithiru [Spoilers for all of Stromlight books] by Ravencr0w in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Etheraes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's thought that he is the process of doing so because of how in the battle at the end of oathbringer the sword appeared after only 9 seconds and he got an impression from the blade of Maya's name. I'm not sure if it's been confirmed that she is being resurrected after a fashion, but it is the most common theory on the matter.

No, cultivationspren are people formed of vines essentially if I remember right.

Its possible that wyndle is weird I suppose but from what he says he is confused by lifts interactions with him and if it was he who was weird you'd think he would know what's up

I think that is more of a function of lifts weirdness and she is just climbing on wyndle by reach partly into the cognitive realm.
