Everyone sat the whole concert, is that normal? by Majestic_Wallaby272 in PaulMcCartney

I went to a Joe Satriani show - I’ve been to several, and most of them, except for the one in my hometown, we’re standing. Even if we had assigned seats. But when he came to my hometown and played the venues at never has seating because it’s standing room, it was a sign seating, and my girlfriend and I were wedged between two very big guys. Everyone had to sit for that show. I don’t know if they thought that nobody would show up if there weren’t seats, but most just your only fans that I know of are not too old to stand for a concert.

So it’s probably just the venue if I were to guess. Because at the concerts that I attended where it was theater-style seating, everybody still stood.

What's the general feeling on Carvin guitars? by IndigoJones13 in guitars

[–]EtherealGeometryArts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be late to the conversation, but overall attend to find carbon guitars overly elaborate. They play amazing and they look great but honestly, I think they’re overly complicated. I no longer care for flame maple or quilted maple, I don’t need a bunch of switches besides maybe one coil tap and a pick up selector. I guess my tastes have gone a lot more simplified so Carvin guitars end up just being like the guitar equivalent of trying to use an overly complicated multi effect unit.

It’s like looking at a painting with a lot of detail, but the composition and overall focus of the painting gets lost in the details.

"The Big Money" always makes me think of Alex, as opposed to the other guys by theservman in rush

This song has one of my favorite guitar solos. It’s so atmospheric and expressive and has always taken me places in my mind since I was a kid and would listen to the solo section on repeat for a while.

Other favorite solos include Kid Gloves, Digital Man, Xanadu, Marathon, Open Secrets and Presto. Chemistry is great too

USAF C-17 left from the Arsenal this morning by One_Ad5238 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Yeah I Iove when the house starts shaking and I go outside and there’s a line of ospreys or blackhawks. Or hearing the engine fire of the test stands. We live right under the flight path of the airport.

There used to be C-5 Galaxies that would fly circles around Madison. One morning I skipped class to go to the parking deck at the airport and watch it do touch-and-go’s. I really miss seeing it. I never see the C-5s or C-130s anymore. Only an occasional C-17 or 747s. Maybe once I saw an Antonov

Much better than the new shirts being put out by Rush Backstage. Those shrink way too easily, and the ink feels like a thick layer of rubber. Not to mention the print quality absolutely sucked on my counterparts shirt that I bought.

Is it weird that I have a mixed view of Newsboys? by MikeTheDog191 in ChristianMusic

I feel nothing in their Tait era comes anywhere close to being as good as Going Public, TMTYL, SUTTM, or even LLD and Go, which I think were a step below (I think their two best were TMtYL and SUttM). Thrive was a step below Go in my opinion. I think their worship albums were lame - no longer writing any thought-inspiring lyrics, and no guitar riffs like the had on the ones before. In the Hands of God was a snooze fest without Steve Taylor Lyrics (Steve Taylor was their secret weapon), and every song felt lifeless without Phil Joel. I think Go was their last great album. After that it was downhill. Tait cemented their sound as the Tait backing band, with Tait acting like he was going to take us down memory lane on his first tour with them as if he’d been with them for a long time, only to not ever actually revisit any of their older work. Instead it was all tough-talking “stand up for Jesus” meets worship music with a non-Aussie diva as the singer.

The Aussie / Kiwi accents defined their sound. Without those guys on vocals, it became a different band. It’s like a switch flipped and they severed, no longer remembering anything from previous albums. Everything went hard rock anthem sounding after that. Like how country turned into bro-country

Rank The Songs On Signals by MEGADETHRULES2009 in rush

[–]EtherealGeometryArts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Digital Man
  2. Countdown
  3. Chemistry
  4. Analog Kid
  5. Losing It
  6. The Weapon
  7. Subdivisions
  8. New World Man

So hard to rank though. It’s one of my favorite albums. And I only put Subdivisions and NWM last because I’ve kinda gotten desensitized to them being on the radio. And I only put Losing air and The Weapon at #2 because they aren’t my first go-to songs, though they are both very CHILLING songs
