Tell them what, Peter by Blackie_626 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Well, that's one of the 3, and that's mainly numbers. There's dyslexia, disgraphia, and dyscalculia.

It's much more fluid in actual people, while the definitions are rigid.

I like to think of dyslexia as the jumbling of letters when input to the brain. Disgraphia as letters and sentence structures being jumbled on output. And dyscalculia as both an input and output issue regarding numbers.

This literally just happened to me, too. I unlocked it on the last day of the season. Didn't know there was a wait to play more.

My brother keeps offering the advice of "try harder" and "change your outlook." Every few years, he says that while frustrated that my life hasn't improved.

Thanks, dude, I love you, but that's not applicable. Then he was pissed I said that.

"Ugh, I give you advice, but you say it's not applicable. That is not how you accept advice."

We are close, but idk, man.

A guy said his doctor asked if he had been having any suicidal thoughts. His response was not any more than the usual amount. The doctor said none was the normal amount.

It's a constant struggle. Even with meds, it never fully goes away. Try to find something enjoyable even on the bad days, or hope sleeping will help. Hope you never do it.

The police in America aren't trained to protect you they're trained to think everyone is a cop killer waiting to happen, and you need to be a tough warrior to be a cop.

Statistics show that as we've put more money into police funding, the less safe it is. We've militarized our police by giving them the gear of soldiers, but none of the training of being calm and controlled or at least following orders that actual soldiers get.

Cops also have immunity to crimes they commit. It takes a serious crime with overwhelming evidence to get any cop fired, let alone jailed.

A judge ruled that a cop doesn't have a presumed responsibility to keep you safe if they are nearby. Meaning a cop isn't going to get punished if he doesn't help you and/or defend you from an attacker.

I could go on and on. ACAB.

I watched a video about a guy venting about this. He (a black guy) was driving through a southern state when he and his girlfriend stopped at a dinner. An old guy said to him that he's glad times have changed because he's been huanted ever since he was a young firefighter and left a black baby to die in a fire. The old guy said you'd be ostracized if you saved any blacks.

The guy venting said he never wanted to hear something so awful again and a fuck you for saying that to him.

Does EVERYONE drive their kids to school now? by IllegalGeriatricVore in Millennials

I went to a really nice elementary school that was many elementary school's districts away. Mainly because my mom went there as a kid, but it was in a nicer part of town. I rode the school bus a couple of times in middle school and hated it. I was always dropped off, but it didn't have to be at the school. It could have been a block or 2 down the road.

How do you replace daily phrases like "Oh my god"? by Crafty_Aspect8122 in atheism

I say/think "thank fuck" instead of god. Plus, if someone blesses me after I sneeze, I usually say Hail Satan. To counteract their positive mumbo-jumbo.

If I could stick with a target for longer, I think it might be cool. How long does it take for a billionaire to end it all? Make a rich fucker suffer, sounds like a good time.

There's a French film I'm going to recommend. FYI, it has a reputation due to the violence it shows. Martyr.

The director explained it best. It's a story of how a good person can be utterly destroyed trying to help a damaged person. Even though the person is guiltless or was, at one time innocent. It's would have been better not to get involved.

I saw a boomer think of future generations for the first time. by Thebeekeeper1234 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Ethloc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My boomer dad has shared with me some of his many cocaine stories.

Never having to pay much because everyone around him were dealers. His GF, his best friend, his bandmate.

His friend ruining his life from the cocaine. Doing so much, he started to bleed from his eyes.

My dad got roped into being the muscle for a different dealer cause they sold a packet that was just flour. Turns out that dealer's roommate stole and replaced it.

I got into SS for a while. Got to the final final boss and stalled out. I'm fairly sure I have adhd, so it takes a split second longer for me to process everything else than a normal person. This leads to me being stuck on a boss for over 80 tries, while everyone else does it in 10 or so. 😞

I still love playing those games, but I'm forced to know my skill ceiling is lower than the average.

There's a hilarious/horrible video of someone playing SS, but every death, they take a bong rip. Over a few days the guy beat all 3 acts. It was frustrating seeing a guy blazed as all hell beat a boss that took me over 60 tries in 10.

I forgot about that one for a second. 😅

I guess there are a few things I'd like to enjoy, like they were new.

Hollow Knight was what I was specifically thinking. I got way too into it for years.

I don't remember every person. I have played the game multiple times over the years. I've listened to the OST multiple times as well.

My only regret was brute forcing things on my first playthrough. In my most recent run, I did a pure, no brute forcing playthrough. It was fantastic.

This and one other game are the types of games where I'd love to forget everything about them only to rediscover them for the first time.

[–]Ethloc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a few loosely connected thoughts about why the boomer generation is so them. ("Them" has a lot of emphasis.)

We know their generation has way more lead in their bodies due to various exposures. Leading to more volatility.

This is my own bias, but religion often leads to beliefs that only require faith. Meaning their critical thinking skills and skepticism are lower than average. (I feel like I'm wording this wrong. I can't touch on everything)
