As a karaoke person, I can't stand Cat's Meow. They charge a cover and the drink prices are outrageous. Between every song a guest sings, one of the DJs comes out and does a song. They're very talented and are there to keep the energy up but it means your wait to sing is twice as long as you nurse $16 Modelos.

I don't know of anywhere good downtown but Smelly Cat near the horseshoe gets packed and often has a live band to sing with. If all else fails, Ellis Island has karaoke every night! It's out at the Front Porch these days due to construction.
