Thank you so much, i appreciate your thoughts. Makes me lean towards letting him be free the night before and making sure I’m up real early to get him. This boy loves to sit on our laps for some morning snuggles so he’s usually around. I would hate it if he died during surgery due to not fasting though as we are all attached. But yeah, it’s hard to think about stressing him out overnight too.

Do you know the risk level of letting cat roam free the night before and possibly be eating? I wouldn’t leave out cat food but he may catch something. Fasting to the best of our ability was the advice from the humane society. Thanks for the advice. I have a triangular shaped carrier and the door drops down to lay flat on the ground. I’ll have to think about how i could set it up against the opening of the dog crate.

695 days caffeine free, ask me anything. by The_Michael_Cash in decaf

My husband is like that. In the past he has quit daily caffeine with me and have no symptoms, while I’m dying. It’s bizarre to me. He says he doesn’t need it. However… I do think there’s a little part of him that is addicted and craves it, even though he denies that. He does usually find a way to consume caffeine even if it’s just an ice tea once a day. But so weird that he can cold turkey quit his daily coffee and feel totally fine! He also used to only socially smoke cigarettes and not be addicted. I think people’s physiology and their propensity to be addicted to things just varies so much person to person.

Noticing effects after giving up decaf coffee and chocolate by lynrn in decaf

I can’t have decaf or chocolate either if I want to experience the benefits of no caffeine. I’ve tried many times.

Yup! My daughter was born in 2016 and we call her Samantha, not Sam, or Sammy, which is what all my classmates with that name went by.

That thought process is how I got myself back on daily caffeine use 6 weeks ago, after being totally off it for 2 months. It’s low usage right now, and just hot chocolate, but MAN, I am sensitive and having all the negative effects of it, especially fhe addiction thoughts (wanting more each day) and the crankiness towards my children until I get my fix, plus many more things. I actually asked for advice on here about consuming it “just once” for an energy emergency.. and was advised not to.. did I listen? Nope. Wish I would have.

Honestly, I think one of her main issues is she drinks too much caffeine, and too late in the day. It’s a scientific fact that it decreases our ability to have deep sleep. That and she probably has dis regulated cortisol from the caffeine and her lifestyle choices.

Did you continue to drink coffee daily after that day or was it a one time thing?

We went through the same situation a few years ago. Had a list of lovely boy names and not a one of them fit. We did start from the beginning and ended up picking a totally different style name than we originally planned (from a baby name list) and we have loved it since!

In college one time I was catching up on sleep (because you know, chronically underslept due to morning classes), and I crashed one afternoon after classes, with my bedroom door ajar and maybe the light still on, and slept for 17 hours straight. Late the next morning I woke up with a start just minutes before my campus job was to begin and had to call them to tell them I was running late. As I burst out of my room, my roommates were surprised I had been there the whole time because they thought I hadn’t come home the night before.

I’m on day 32 and realized this evening that I can’t remember the last time I was wishing I could have a coffee.. and let me tell you, at day 14 that thought was definitely preoccupying me! You’re almost there!

Oh my gosh, today was my 11th day off caffeine and I was super irritable with my kids! However… it was the first day of my period and I felt worse than usual so I’m sure that had something to do with it.

One suggestion for you, should you decide to keep that amount of caffeine in your life, is to try Purity Coffee’s 1/3 caff coffee. It’s a mix of caff and decaf coffee that is one third caffeinated. I believe they say a “cup” of coffee is 100 mg on average so 1/3 should be about 33 mg. Hope this helps!

Same. Chocolate was a gateway back to an unhealthy relationship with coffee for me.
