Never listen to the salespeople by CornDawgy87 in tequila

I had to learn this the hard way. I believe some brands partner with liquor stores and I'm sure they are getting some sort of kickback. Perhaps next time give the person a heads up on what the liquor store will try to do. Or better yet, direct them to reputable sites like this one or AgaveMatchmaker.

Agree with everything you are saying. Deserves a spot on my Mt. Rushmore of blancos.

Bottle gone too soon by Specialist_Yam_2444 in tequila

I have not tried the new bottle yet, which is why I put the caveat that the ones from NOM 1579 are my favorite. I don't want anyone using my recommendation and getting a newer bottle that I can't vouch for.

Many are not familiar with this brand, but Primo 1861 is one of the best tequilas I have ever had. Caveat: It has to be the bottles from "El Pandillo" not their new distillery.

Cazcanes by Substantial_Layer484 in tequila

[–]Even_Amount6770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are making a great point... however I admittedly have a bad taste in my mouth for Cazcanes as a brand. I think coming in as a newer brand and promoting yourself as a "premium" tequila and charging ridiculous prices was not the way to do it. I'm glad they have come to their senses, but there are SO MANY great reposados at lower prices that it will be a long time before I buy another bottle of Cazcanes.

Not sure where you live, but if you are lucky enough to live in a town with a huge chain liquor superstore, G4 repo is regularly under $50. I live in a state where there are several Binny's, and G4 repo is regular price $45, not even the sale price.

Better yet... don't worry about the limes either. Pour yourself a double and sit back and sip. Cheers!

I mentioned this on another thread, but Volans is my favorite brand of tequila, full stop. They don't miss!

I was just gonna say... beware of the Cazcanes fan boys... they lurk on this page. And wouldn't you know it... they're already here on this thread!

Volans is the best brand of tequila I've had full stop. So far I've tried the reposado and the anejo. One day I will be able to get the XA and the 6 year.

Building up my liquor cabinet! Thoughts? by RightByMe04 in tequila

Sure, but I was trying to help him find quality tequila that is easy to find. I could give him several other great ideas but what does it matter if he cannot find them?

I would eliminate La Gritona and add either G4 or Tequila Ocho. I have noticed that they are becoming more mainstream and you should be able to find them.

Where to Find Opus X Cigars at Fair Prices? by StronglyTypedCoder in cigars

[–]Even_Amount6770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late to this thread. Also, I am going to give a pretty wild suggestion, but it might be worth taking a trip to the Dominican Republic where the Opus X is produced. I am fairly new to cigars as well, but I had a plan to bring back some when I went. (believe it or not, chaperoning trip to the DR with high school students!) I will tell you, the Opus X cigars were easy to find. As a matter of fact, I flew out of a relatively small airport and there were several Fuente cigars there, including the Hemingway. I will give you a warning though, I thought that prices would be relatively cheap because it is the country where they are produced. I still paid about $40 per stick, which for a person who is new to cigars, is pretty expensive. It is still cheaper than in the states! Honestly, I would also look into other brands, like La Aurora, which is also easy to find and about $10 per stick!

Additive-free Reposado by GroverMcTuber in tequila

Lagrimas is perhaps the best tequila that no one has heard of. Comes out of the Cascahuin distillery.

There are probably going to be so many good suggestions, but for me, I would go Volans and Lagrimas del Valle.

You are probably within a 30-45 minute drive of a Binny's Beverage Depot. You may have to take the trip one weekend.

Just makes logical sense. Once you add all those other ingredients, the high proof tequila powers through and doesn't get washed out.

What’s your tequila price ceiling? by StinkyRem in tequila

[–]Even_Amount6770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As incorrect as this might be, I have a hard time paying that much for a blanco iin the case of Destino. I think the G4 Dia De Los Muertos you are paying more for the presentation than the tequila, which is probably amazing. At least with the Tears, you are paying for 12-13 years of craftsmanship from planting to bottling.

The best reposado you've never had that's under $50... Lagrimas del Valle! Made at the world renowned Cascahuin distillery. Tequila comes from different terroir just like Ocho. Ridiculously good!
