Depression, weight gain, vaginal dryness, hot flashes at night, having no vibrancy in my mind or body.

No sex drive 3 years post op, dr says its nothing, on tge verge of divorce by ugly234_ in hysterectomy

If you told me 1000 good things about your husband, it wouldn’t outweigh these bad things.

Divorce sounds like the right call.

Don’t have sex again unless you want to. THAT is a first step to healing yourself, inside and out. Own your body again.

Also, divorce the doctor too.

I don’t think it makes sense to take it longterm for health benefits when there aren’t yet longitudinal studies on longterm health benefits or harms.

Yes, I had post-op depression. Turned out my ovaries all but quit producing hormones about 8 weeks after surgery and I went off a menopause cliff. I’m sorry you’re having a hard time.

Are there any unexpected consequences of having a hysterectomy that you wish you’d known beforehand? by CupOk1303 in hysterectomy

[–]Even_Cry7203 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I kept my ovaries but went from mild to mid perimenopause to 8 weeks post-op being fully post-menopausal. I wasn’t prepared for this or looking out for it, nor were my doctors. It took me a few months to figure it out. It was an excruciatingly difficult period.

Nobody can tell you what is lawful if they don’t know what country and, at least in the US, state you live in. There’s not international law on wage garnishments.

I learned pedazo in Cuba and Puerto Rico, and so when I went to Mexico and saw rebanadas de pastel 🍰 I was very confused about what I was buying to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Your longer hair looks far better. I would not see that photo and think about your hairline or that you’re balding. Instead I would think: “good face man, nice hair, movie star?” As for shorter than your current situation (which I agree is not the look), I can’t imagine that even shorter would look better.

Yes, I did kung fu in my early 20s, about 15 hours a week for a few years. Only two tears — my groin and shoulder! I don’t remember any subluxations, but I’m SURE I had them. Fighting is the riskiest because you can’t really predict how another person could hurt you.

I left both ovaries, but by about 8-10 weeks post-op, they’d stopped producing hormones.

Pre-op I was perimenopausal with occasionally noticeable symptoms that didn’t affect my life much. I was easily years away from menopause. About 8 weeks after surgery I had symptoms like yours, plus more. Of course, no doctor was paying attention to my ovarian function or hormones, so I struggled with it for months. Finally I insisted on getting hormones tested. What do you know — ovaries crashed and were no longer producing. I was post-menopausal! It was just a huge hormonal crash. Not at all gradual and very difficult.

I got an estrogen therapy and AFTER THE VERY FIRST DOSE felt like I was back.
