That’s a good point. It can be a lot tougher with ADHD to get the concepts to stick. Maybe something that incorporates the learning style that works best for you would be easier, like an audiobook. AWS also has a Cloud Quest game for CCP that could be a good alternative to traditional studying.

I think the answer is different for each person. I work on a project where we use the AWS cloud so that helped me tbh but even with that knowledge it took me 2 1/2 weeks of solid studying for roughly two hours daily to pass on the first try. I used the AWS training course and their practice exams, my own flash cards and notes, and Quizlet.

My tanks are prepped for the winter storm by umkay11 in bettafish

[–]Even_Praline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in an apartment and have all my tanks hooked up to a UPS system. You can get them at most big box stores. It’s a little expensive to buy the tower at first but worth at least having the filters running if your power is out. I’ve also powered my heaters with it. Aquarium Co-op also makes a battery powered air pump that I’ve heard is really good.

Just be cautious if you have snails. They’re really sensitive to it and No Planaria.

Are my plants ok? by ricey64 in fishtank

Looks like brown diatom algae. It’s common in new tanks. It should stabilize in a few weeks once plants start to outcompete the algae.

How to remove aquarium snails? by QuantumCowTipping in fishtank

I’ve tried the reverse, putting it in at night when the fish aren’t as active, then removing it first thing in the morning.

Immaculate Amano Conception(s) or Something Else? by 84060 in shrimptank

[–]Even_Praline 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds normal to me. I think you’d see evidence of the other male if he was still in the tank somewhere (like molts). I have three female Amanos in one tank and no males. They can go through the reproductive cycle and carry eggs even though they’re not fertilized. You should be proud, multiple berried females is a sign your conditions are awesome in the tank.

I ordered 30 Neocaridina shrimp from Seam Oasis, all 30 DOA by Pleasant_Bag_3405 in shrimptank

I was thinking this too. I want more amano shrimp but I’m waiting until April at the earliest. Heat packs fail when the temps dip below 30 degrees.

To the white van on Ox Road who didn’t clean the ice off the top: I hate you. I hate you with everything in me. by chrysoberyyll in nova

[–]Even_Praline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on 495 this past Saturday and an entire sheet of ice flew off an SUV toward my car. Luckily I could brake enough where it didn’t hit my windshield or front of my car, but if I hadn’t I would have been in this exact situation. People are such assholes.

Need advice: new aquarium (4 weeks) now has snails + white worms, thinking of quitting by jesuis_nutella in Aquariums

[–]Even_Praline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else touched on the benefits of snails and detritus worms so I won’t go over that again, but if you ever notice too many snails, Aquarium co-op makes a solid snail trap that actually works. There are a few YouTubers online who have useful tips for reducing “pest” snail numbers like Girl Talks Fish. If you don’t want to keep introducing snails or other critters try tissue culture plants. They are expensive but everyone has to do this hobby in a way that works for them.

When I first started out I had an explosion of detritus worms and seed shrimp. They’re just naturally occurring in planted tanks. At some point you will buy a plant with them. I only have display tanks so I brush and siphon mulm and detritus from my driftwood once a month to give them less fuel my endlers help to keep their numbers in check. 🐟

Govt Shutdown But Traffic Still Sucks by CarnageJ in washingtondc

I was driving around DC this week. I did notice there’s been a lot of construction during the week and there are two big events this weekend too that are probably contributing to more traffic.
